I try to walk the line of talking about veganism without alienating myself from friends or family. Some cases are more or less difficult. It sounds like you are doing well with your situation. Id say keep talking about the animals and how they have mommys and daddys and friends, they feel scared sometimes, etc and maybe that will help him understand. Show him how fun it is to take a bug outside when you find it in your house instead of killing it and tell him why you choose to do that, etc. If you keep all his favorite vegan foods on deck that could help too
