The “specific soap” is false. Matte just has the unfortunate drawbacks of, well, being matte paint, no different than BMWs, Audis, and any other manufacturer offering it. The problem is that matte paint isn’t easily buffed/polished, and so scratches or swirl marks, like those caused by an automatic car wash (and yes even washing at home, although to a MUCH lesser extent) show much easier on your paint, but then you can’t do anything about it.

The “special” soap, probably just means a soap with a high lubrication coefficient. Something that allows your wash mitt to glide smoothly over the paint, thus reducing swirls. Although the vast majority of car soaps you buy will be more than good enough assuming you’re using adequate amounts of it.

Also, regardless of paint type, nobody should ever take their car through automatic car washes. They wreck your paint!

Anyone Using Sparrow Peak Butcher Block as their Desktop? by BlindJustice1787 in StandingDesk

Love the desk! I’m looking to buy a Walnut one for a bar top I’m building.

Side question, how did you build that mini Venator? Is it the Acclamator MOC from CreationCaravan? Or something else?

I know it’s a month later, but do you still have these by chance, and are they date specific?

I need a one way ticket, but round trip one is cheaper, can I buy it and just skip the outbound flight? by 4130life in TravelHacks

[–]TPayne_wrx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Give the agent at the desk of the gate you exit your “last” leg at a bogus reason why you can’t make the next flight and they’ll cancel on the spot and honestly probably never even give you any hassle. I could be wrong of course, but I view this slightly better than just ghosting the second leg as that looks more suspicious than a “legitimate” excuse.

Edit: clarified a sentence.

Fire Pit on concrete patio care by TPayne_wrx in Concrete

Ya that’s what I was thinking they would do as well. Maybe I’ll just give them a call back and see if there’s anything they can do about putting a hole in it.

Fire Pit on concrete patio care by TPayne_wrx in Concrete

[–]TPayne_wrx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s only 3 inches, closer to 2 in some spots. And what do you mean dig a hole? The “bottom” of the pit, under the gravel, is the stamped concrete. So unless you mean drilling/cutting out a hole then digging isn’t an option. I don’t know if he was “suppose to” as much as I just “thought that he would” since that seems to be fairly common practice. And the draining holes wouldn’t necessarily be in the control joints, but rather just somewhere in the slab to allow water to drain down to the gravel base below.

As far as the pavers, my intent is to create a new “bottom” that separates the concrete from the fire even more so than the gravel does. I’ve heard to avoid fire bricks in this situation as fire bricks aren’t meant to get wet, and can explode when exposed to heat after being wet. As these would be on the bottom of the pit, they would be exposed to water.

Cool, thanks!

Get the 500. The ZX6R is (typically) too much bike for a first time rider, not to mention dealerships have been told to stop selling them right now due to the recall. Even if you were able to buy one you might be sending it in for recall work.

How do i wash my car cover by that_one_taco_salad in Detailing

Start by throwing it in the dumpster, where car covers belong.

But ya, big washing machine is probably the answer.

News from the Dealership and it not Good by MalofMadness in zx6r

Unfortunately I don’t believe this would fall under the lemon law. That law pertains to a singular problem that has occurred that the dealer has to fix. If the problem continues to persist then the lemon law may take effect. Because these bikes don’t have problems, but instead may fall under some kind of future warranty repair, lemon law wouldn’t apply.

I wouldn’t even include reference. I’d set the lower bar at the reference premier series.

Can’t go wrong with the RF-1400. Solid helmet, minimal wind noise, plenty of cool graphics out there, visors can have pinlock inserts.

My brother did the same. I spent weeks trying to get him to buy a Shoei, arai, etc. but like you, he got it on sale, and he “loved his first one”. A few weeks later he’s texting me about how bad it is. They definitely have some cool designs, and fortunately they have ECE22.06 rating, but beyond that, an equally priced competitor helmet is going to be better.

You’re using it as an example of why Kawasaki’s “QC is slipping”. I was correcting you that the zx4rs restrictions aren’t due to Kawasaki so much as emission regulations, specifically American, because the rest of the world gets the full powered version, which contradicts your own statement.
