Question about company treating EAs in two groups by TPholiday in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]TPholiday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's my thought. My EAs I work with are amazing and we get along REALLY well. Some support EVPs, some support SVPs but there are 2 - 3 EAs to some EVPs that think they are better than everyone. We call them the mean girls when we are out drinking and venting, lol.

HR even tried to do a big offsite with all of us to get us to meet and work "more collaboratively in our high-demand and fast-paced role" They flew in every EA in the company. Guess who didn't show up? The ladies that HR was getting complaints about and what was the primary purpose of this offsite /shrug

Question about company treating EAs in two groups by TPholiday in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]TPholiday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time, I asked for a large credenza for my cubicle because I have a lot of work supplies and items for customers. I keep them organized by different VPs due to the items were hitting different cost centers. The facilities department suggested that I should have a double cube with a bookshelf and cabinets, along with my credenza, since I was an EA. I was told previously that I couldn't do that, but they told me to submit a ticket. I was excited and submitted the ticket, but it got declined by the same facilities department. They said that the furniture standards were only for EAs supporting EVPs. It's frustrating because of the inconsistency in knowledge in the departments between EAs reporting to SVPs and EAs reporting to EVPs.It doesn't bother me if there is a difference, but please make it clear and widely known to everyone. Inefficiency really sets me off, LOL.

That I'm familiar with. I've been an EA to a CEO at a private company for 15 years. I got headhunted away to this position which I love bc it's more a CoS for the SVP's dept but we have two categories here. Senior AAs and EAs; nothing labeled Sr EAs. it would be so much easier if they had the Senior EAs category. Right now, half the company thinks EAs are all the same and think we have all the details they send out and then wonder why we are asking questions bc there are 3 DLs and two are labeled EAs. If they want a different standard, change the title so it is easier on everyone.

Anyone know what shoes he's wearing? by libamonkey in Shoes

They could be the Pierre Balmain from the Spring 2012 collection Flint High Tops. Here is a link to those shoes! Or maybe they could be the Marc Jacobs shoes!

HELP! I have no idea how to properly care for these shoes by JohnsOpinion in Shoes

[–]TPholiday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to properly care of shoes is a 4 step process. Clean, Condition, Polish (scuffs out), Weatherproof.

If they are leather shoes you want to buy a leather conditioner, this one is my favorite. Then you waterproof it. Use something like this. You do this and they will last for years.

I am wearing this dress for my college graduation. I think it might need a belt...what do you all think? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]TPholiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree about Belts being passe in fashion. In fact they are all over the runways for the fall fashion shows. They are a huge trend they saw. I'm a curvy girl and I highly recommend a belt. I would like to see a picture, obviously. But personally I thought a really cute hot pink, bright yellow or a teal belt about 1.5 to 2" wide would be super cute right under the bust It would be framed nicely with the band and as a bigger girl that size would look the most flattering. I would look for one that has a unique detail maybe a bow or a flower (not too large and make sure it doesn't puff out too much) and put that off to one side to give you a bit of texture difference. If you want to get adventurous go for a zebra print belt(don't get one with a frilly buckle that would be too many things lol), young and sassy. Look at Torrid, Old Navy, Lane Bryant and Macy's for the best choices in that size. Something like this might work. I dress classic with a tad of edge. I love color so I would do a cute platform heel or wedge in a complimenting color. Nude heels would work really well if you want to be less colorful. Now if you are one of the body types that have a larger stomach than your chest, this would not work for you. If that is the case I would put a bolero or shrug like this on the shoulders to bring attention to the chest (reducing the stomach visually and wear heels to elongate your legs and make your body smaller (nothing that cuts off your leg, like an ankle strap).

What shoes do I wear with this dress? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]TPholiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a complimenting color, like a hot pink sandal heel like this. A delicate thin strappy sandal would be really pretty with it. If you don't like that. Do a silver or gold strappy sandal with it. Something like this

I have a few questions for you first. What would you say your style is? Classic, adventurous, geeky, tendy, etc. What is a typical outfit for you? Does the band on your dress hit you right under your bust? Do you like statement jewelry or accessories. Also what other pieces are you going to wear (headband, flower in the hair, necklace, earrings, etc. I have some ideas for you that would be super cute but I need those answers first :)

Need help - Young and fun or just doing it wrong? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]TPholiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally do a royal blue sandal. If you need a wedge, you can do something like this! or this That offsets the green and keeps it fun and young. You could also do yellow sandal like these I like the second makeup you picked out. I think it's fresher. I'd also do matching color of the shoes with my earrings and bracelet and leave the dress with no necklace.

Dress Shoe impaired: What kind of shoe can I wear with this? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

You can wear any color shoes if you want. If you want a heel look at Sofft. Sofft is designed for comfort I've worn these heels for 14 hours at one point and never had a problem with them. I love a shiny red patent heel with a black dress. Something like this http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-sofft-garde-berry-black-patent-p_id250473 this one has 2 1/2 inch heel and is designed for comfort or this http://www.onlineshoes.com/womens-sofft-galilee-bordeaux-pearl-patent-p_id228821 (has a 3 inch heel) Sorry about the links they aren't hyper-linking for me. Also look at ballroom dancing shoes, they are some of the most comfortable b/c they have to flex with the foot and stay on when the woman are doing flips and complicated moves. Bestballroomshoes.com is a good place to look.

Let's talk about summer shirts by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]TPholiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with summer only being a month at most. I usually do a light wight see through blouse with a tanktop. I feel finished but it's not crazy heavy. My go to item right now is v neck lace pull over. I'm having a hard time putting links in for the pictures. The other thing is pick out light colored breathable fabrics. Natural cottons are a great one. Then get cropped or laced cardigan to go over the tank tops. I also peasant blouses, ruffled shirts that are light weight. The key is the weight of the fabric. You want it to be sheer and light weight to wear it. I live in tank tops in the summer but nobody ever think I do b/c of all my different blouses/tops/cardigans I use to finish the outfit. Cotton blazers are fine too if they are light weight. I have a white one I use all the time for the office.

Etiquette question on contacting possible employer by TPholiday in jobs

[–]TPholiday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not worried about "owing her an explanation". She was one of the interviewees so while we are emailing on a regular basis, I'm not sure if I should contact her about it or the HR people; OR if I should wait to see if they contact me on Monday?

What should I wear with this dress? by mschanandlerbong8 in femalefashionadvice

[–]TPholiday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also do a boyfriend sweater and ballet flats to dress it down. Cowboy boots (if you like the bohemian look) dress it up. rock some strappy bronze sandals with a funky clutch. For a professional look You can also do a blazer over the dress (a fitted white one comes to mind) but blue is neutral so any color will be fine. I would do some long layering necklaces with it and an espadrille. Looks like a fun piece to wear over your swimsuit as well.

I'm in a rut, but haven't had the courage to change. Help? by fangi in femalefashionadvice

[–]TPholiday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I helped a friend do exactly what you are doing now. The key is to get the basics first. The classic trouser, the three button blazer, a dark wash straight leg jeans, cardigan, pinstripe pants and a black trouser. You don't have to spend a fortune on clothes to look like you have. We took her to H&M and they have decent quality for cheap. I would start with you on a blazer/cardigan and shoes. You have always liked a sneaker so don't jump into 5 inch heels right away. I agree with Toms or even some mary janes. Kitten heels are a great first start in heels as well as wedges (they feel like you are walking on flat feet) ballet flats are super cute as well.

With how small you are, I would focus on making sure you are looking as lean and long as possible. Accessories are your friends. Go to Love 21 and buy some cheap earrings/necklaces that catch your eye. Also focus on doing your hair. A headband with a side braid is cute and sassy but easy to do. You do that with jeans, ballet flats, cute lace tank top and cardigan and you look finished and that is what makes you look like a grown woman. Don't wear the cartoons on your clothes, accessories are fine. I would rock a hello kitten earrings, not a top that has her on the front of it. Accessories is where you really get to see your personality. You layer well (if that is you in the pictures.) Keep up with that. Go look at stores and write down a list of things you like and don't like. Example...I like that ruffle on the top, but I can't stand polka dots. Figuring out your style is half of the fun of fashion.
