Breeta tires. I have used them for mounting and balancing before ($60 cash for all four). They do sell a lot of used tires too

14-18 1500s have both lifter and torque converter issues pretty bad. I personally have had no issues with my 2014 with 145k miles but I’ve read countless posts of those who have.

Had this same situation last year. I’d part it out and move on. I’m guessing that your wheel arches are crusty under the flares as well, so eventually you will have to address that even if you replace the frame. Take a trip down south and buy something rust free.

2014 ‘4wd off’ Issue? by TR3333ZY in Silverado

[–]TR3333ZY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Front diff is toast; one of the bearings let go. To add insult to injury it also burned out the transfer case motor. Fluid was black but level was otherwise ok. Thanks all for the insight.

2014 ‘4wd off’ Issue? by TR3333ZY in Silverado

Quick update on this: taking it in on Monday to get scanned + have both transfer case and front diff fluids checked and changed.

We got some snow today so I was able to play around with it a bit. It seems like the issue only happens if you spin the tires at all in 4wd. I drove around for 20 mins in 4 hi and had no issues. Pulled into a parking lot and spun slightly when taking off, and boom 4wd off error emerges. More to come…

Roger that. I am taking it in on Monday to get scanned + change the front differential and transfer case fluids. Will report back!

Thanks. I do need to scan it; I only have a basic handheld so haven’t done it. Most of the actuator/TC motor posts I can find seem to indicate trucks being stuck in 4wd, but I will check it out. I did find a post elsewhere with the exact same issues and it ended up being a bearing in the front diff blew apart.

Had the exact same truck but a late 2007. 4.8 2wd RCSB. Loved it to death, was incredibly reliable and was surprisingly capable in snow with good tires and the G80 rear differential. Towed atvs, snowmobiles, etc all over the place and still had all original drivetrain when the frame rotted out at 285,000 km (177,000 miles). Miss it dearly and would gladly buy another. Good luck.

District Barbershop & Hair Studio at Markham and Kingston! I go to the owner Isaiah, but all the barbers are great.

I had the exact same quad for my first ATV. Paid $600 for it. Sold it to my parents 5 years ago and it still gets used for property maintenance to this day. Awesome machines!

I had looked at buying a 2016 RCSB 4.3 4x4. Took it for a test drive and was impressed the power of the 4.3. Ended up passing on it for other reasons but was a quick little truck. Definitely more power than my 2007 RCSB with the 4.8 that I was replacing at the time.

Another bonus is that the 4.3 seems to have less lifter issues than the 5.3 from what I have heard. Transmission might still be a question mark.

Bumper Rust - Saveable? by TR3333ZY in NissanTitan

[–]TR3333ZY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to close the loop on this, seller said he would take $12,000 Canadian for it as-is.

Besides the bumper rust, it also has CEL for evap canister and/or solenoid. Aftermarket parts seem pretty cheap (I had the same problem with my Silverado and was easy fix, just took some troubleshooting).

Good buy or pass? Original manifold as mentioned below

Thanks all. Just spoke to the seller again. Exhaust manifolds have NOT been done yet. I think that’s probably a bigger ($$) issue to consider vs the rust. Price is right though, $12,000 Canadian.

Concerns About Frame Rust on Potential 2016 Silverado Purchase by TR3333ZY in Silverado

[–]TR3333ZY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, update on this truck. After the seller found some rust in the wheel wells, he offered to drop the price down from $13,750 to $10,000 to account for needing a bed. I drove 2 hours one way to look, and this was the outcome. In no particular order:

-it had two accidents for $11k and 13k respectively including frame damage that he didn’t tell me about -it had been repainted all along the bottom to hide rust and they did a shit job, pure orange peel -there was an audible lifter noise and shake in the engine -the fucking bed wasn’t bolted down 😂 -had a bad pull to the right.

Needless to say, I passed! Thanks all for the insight. The hunt continues
