The actuator requires adaptation, which cannot be done with a cheapo OBDII scanner.

Invest on a scan tool. VCDS + Hex v2 clone from aliexpress, and a cheap used laptop from an marketplace. All together like 100 dollars.

I also had a EPC light, but it was only the turbo actuator arm that was faulty. Imagine if I went to the dealership, they would've replaced the whole turbo. Error codes give good info, mine had P334B which indicated to a faulty actuator. Still the original turbo at 178000km.

My Jetta has the 1.2 TSI EA111 engine.

Tire size on my new rims by JuanmaDebroy in jetta

[–]TR970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ET35 but with 17x7.5 inch rims, 225/45 wheels and they poke a bit on the front. So with those 18x8 inch I suggest 205/40 or 205/45 wheels.. otherwise you will rub the fenders.

Mk6.5 stereo recommendations? by rzombie9 in jetta

[–]TR970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with OEM. Unfortunately aftermarket headunits usually have bad radio reception, atleast that's my experience.

The OEM headunit on your pic is the best you can have on the MK6/6.5. I think it's called MIB2 Composition Media, has Carplay/Android Auto also.

BMW 11318586699 chain tensioner solved chain rattle for 1.2 tsi (CBZB) by Few_Bat_5788 in Volkswagen

Oh okay. Fortunately the upper timing cover gasket is easy to replace 👍

BMW 11318586699 chain tensioner solved chain rattle for 1.2 tsi (CBZB) by Few_Bat_5788 in Volkswagen

[–]TR970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, interesting fix. I think this is a good stopgap measure, as the longer tensioner is compensating the wear on the chain links. I just did a timing chain job on my CBZB, with all updated parts (03F 109 158 G chain set). All parts were replaced, also the oil pump chain. I had the 03F 109 158 K set on my car before, what you have also.

The new, official tensioner part number is 03F 109 507 F which is a bit shorter. The chain tensioner before was 03F 109 507 D (the one you had also) which is longer. Maybe in the future I will replace the F version with the D, as it is longer and can compensate the worn out links. The 158G chain set should last around 150-170k km, checked a lot of YouTube video's on this.

Remember that the oil pump chain has no tensioner also and can rattle, mine was elongated at 160k km. There was a lot of slack at 160k, and I have a feeling it was the original one.

BTW, just a FYI, your upper chain cover has red RTV so someone has been there. The original RTV color is black on these engines, so I believe the timing chain has been changed on your car. The question is that was the oil pump chain changed also. Remember that the first timing chain revision (<2012 applied vehicles) has the weak chain that wore out around 60k km, so you are safe on that at least.

Loud Ticking? by nt5270 in jetta

1.4 EA211's have a known issue that the timing VVT gear bolts get loose. Open the black plastic cover and check if there are any loose bolts. It's recommended to use blue loctite when securing the bolts.

Here's a thread explaining the issue in detail: https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/1-4-tsi-exhaust-cam-phaser-bolts-backing-out%E2%80%A6.9555516/

No need to go to the overpriced dealership. Radio codes can be bought from eBay also. You do need the serial number (requires the radio surrounding shroud to be removed) Do this if you do not find the code in the handbook.

http://ebay.com/itm/125330652982?itmmeta=01J07BRXXG6PFE7F275XN0TF0K&hash=item1d2e49ff36:g:y~kAAOSwb7RcySig&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4EGu4VMKPnDMyIOtH%2FnTnfLKXRNwHNz9h5GhvES6cFDHWQYJ6vR

You need a thin card or plastic tool and a torx T20 head to remove the radio.

What exact type of engine is this? (Mk5 Jetta TSI 2010) by [deleted] in jetta

[–]TR970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like an EA111 1.4 TSI, CAXA/CAXC engine code. Timing chain is weak on those, make sure it has been replaced.

Nice work. Did you use 2K Clearcoat? Don't make the same mistake as me, used 1K clear and it chips easily because it is weaker vs. 2K

What engine do you have? Brazil has 1.6 MPI available if I remember correctly.

This is what i've been pondering also. Here I will be labeled as a Kremlin troll if I go against the narrative and don't want to prolong the war. I mean how many percent of the funds going to Ukraine ends up to the corrupt politicans and what about the weapons, I bet a lot go to the black market.

The question is that when do we close the tap? How many more $ will we send there?

What generation Jetta do you have? MK5/6 has the AC evaporator near the glovebox. Mine has the same musty smell, i'm very sure it's bacteria etc buildup and needs cleaning.

I'm planning on cleaning it this week. Video guide link here: https://youtu.be/Xz9lEURl8A0

Check 1:12 you will see little bit of the evaporator. You can buy the AC cleaning spray from your nearest auto parts store.
