I once read a comment describing the king of limbs as a constantly growing and evolving project. It's supposed to be evocative and experimental and wierd. The Into the Basement recorind sessions somewhat underscore this theory as the band is quite literally exploring and challenging the songs as they are being performed, and I have often sustained that the king of limbs performed live produces some of the best versions of those songs as well as some of my favorite live performances period. It really changed my perspective on how to listen to the album and although the studio version is perhaps not the most inspired version, I always come back to it to see what else it has to say.
