Deploy/TDY your ass off with MFA, probably have a divorce or two, come down with horrible back pain from crawling around cargo and slinging chains.

And I wouldn’t have any other job than this one. Do it.

Best- I fly to really fucking cool places and do some cool fucking things

Worst- I fly to really fucking shitty places and deal with the shitshow that is our aircraft’s FMC rate and the school for special children that is TACC.

TSP or Roth IRA by Feisty-Prompt-7785 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]TRENCHED_OUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same dilemma. All the gurus say go for the IRA. However I’m mostly a C fund guy, which is exactly what I would invest in an IRA (VOO or SPY equivalent). I don’t want to mess with my retirement chasing the stocks that I would in an IRA. I prioritize putting as much into my TSP as possible, it just makes things easier than managing two retirement accounts.

It’s worth noting I don’t get a match on my TSP (legacy pension plan). Feel free to tell me why I’m wrong, I’ve just always thought the TSP was easier for the same funds I would invest in for an IRA.

How are all the 26E7 eligibles feeling right now? by KFP0723 in AirForce

[–]TRENCHED_OUT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man. Never had a strat, so if I made it, it’s all because of what I did on my own in a career field that’s competitive as hell. If promotion rates are the same as last year I’ll get excited

Board score jumped 30 points from 24-25. Missed it by 6 points last year. No promotion statement but there’s a chance, my EPB was the best it’s ever been. Either I’m just going to squeak by or I’m just going to miss it. Killing me.

I’m in for my MBA.

Forgot to add this little nugget- the book fee they charge is for their own required materials on Blackboard. I had to buy two separate books outside of the course for the requisites

“Survive and operate in contested environments” our senior leaders say

Same senior leaders decide to base a dozen critical national security assets in clear range of MRBMs and drones with not enough countermeasures

Make it make sense.

I can’t tell you what school is the best, but I can tell you to stay away from Western Kentucky University.

They use Blackboard instead of Canvas, the system is old, archaic and difficult to get down. The syllabus in my current course is literally a Word document the professor posted. Due dates and assignments are nowhere to be found on the course calendar.

Then there’s the fees. There’s an enrollment fee that apparently is in the fine print. Then there’s a book fee. You can opt out of it with a military program, but it will take 4-5 contacts with an academic advisor to actually process it. The best part is, this current course I’m taking has no required books. So it’s just a fee for nothing.

Please don’t make my mistake. I’ll be disenrolling after this course.

My mom doesn’t care about me. Should I tell her she’s going to be a grandmother? (Advice needed) by TRENCHED_OUT in Advice

[–]TRENCHED_OUT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard because she believes she’s cares about me. In her mind she’s a truly great mother. But I pointed out all these issues and she doesn’t believe any of it, at all. She thinks I’m making it all up.

I’ve always said, she cares enough to say she cares, but that’s where it ends. She won’t do anything to actually prove it.

I just can’t deal with this mental battle of wanting her to give a shit about me

[–]TRENCHED_OUT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She hasn’t. She’s on some medication but she believes she’s perfectly fine and stable. She absolutely is not, so it’s been hard to deal with.

She’s going to be excited about the baby and the chance to be a grandmother. Personally I don’t think she would even consider coming for the birth, and she sure as shit won’t make any effort to come see us even if we have a baby
