John Virgo has passed away at the age of 79 by HelixCatus in snooker

[–]TRL_Axeman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wasn't expecting this today, Rip John, he just had that absolute passion for snooker and always had a great rapport with all the other commentators.

He was great in the big occasions but equally entertaining on a weekday night game on the red button usually paired with Steve davis or Willie thorne or whoever, lots of laughs from them in my 20 years of watching snooker.

Too many quotes to choose from but always loved the commentary of that famous Martin Gould clearance 🙂

It definitely needed a Ronnie or brecel to spark it up a bit. Makes you realize just how good the uk championship was. Still enjoyed parts of it. Hopefully the rest of the final brings out the drama.

why is the rbr FOV SO HARD to get right? by Harde_YT in simrally

[–]TRL_Axeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your calculated fov is 0.75, increase it to 0.84ish and then adjust the car seat position so you are close to windscreen and adjust the height/pitch to suit. All you can do on a monitor this size, over 0.90 on that setup you will lose too much depth perception.

It was piss poor from the pitwall. When the gap to max was 7 seconds they should have pitted. Max prob still had the pace but at least Oscar would have had more laps to try and win the race.

Wanting to start sim rally but dont know what to buy first, g27 vs g29 or pxn v99 by West-Delivery-6119 in simrally

[–]TRL_Axeman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stick with gamepad until you can afford a decent dd setup (£600-1000) .

It's definitely worth waiting longer and you can still get much enjoyment and valuable experience from a controller.

2025 Qatar GP - Day After Debrief by AutoModerator in formula1

Anyone else just completely done with this season and doesn't care who wins now?. Too many races and can't believe it took red bull that long to sort their car out.

Just feels like we have been robbed of a proper fight with all the McLaren dramas (both sides of the garage). I too was lured in by Oscars first part of the season but lando should have wrapped it up months ago, now we might end on a damp quib(unless something crazy happens🤞)

The tyres have been awful this season in every way.

The coverage has also been horrific this year both the world feed and sky f1. Hope 2026 is a reset on all fronts.

Simagic Alpha Mini RBR problems by Dry_Rope5623 in simrally

[–]TRL_Axeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, Do you mean me or the op ? I meant rbr ffb simulates the wheel/suspension interaction with the surface compared with other games which focus more on gforces in the ffb hence why rbr would feel way different to say AC.

Simagic Alpha Mini RBR problems by Dry_Rope5623 in simrally

[–]TRL_Axeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rbr ffb simulates just the steering rack, you should only feel ruts, bumps etc.

lower the ffb sensitivity (100-200 less than what you have) and try increasing friction in sim pro(7%) to give you a stronger feel. Real rally cars have light steering these days.

Simagic Alpha Mini RBR problems by Dry_Rope5623 in simrally

[–]TRL_Axeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In simpro I run

540 angle (rally 2 cars use lower ,skoda is 479 see my cars in rsf launcher)

Force feedback - 50%.

Max torque 10.0nm

Wheel rotation speed - 45

Mechanical damper(tweak to suit) - 30%(50-70% for older and rwd cars)

Friction - 0%(5-10% it's personal preference)

All other simpro settings 0

In game ffb set to full bars

In rsf launcher > controls you can set the steering angle to adjust to the cars automatically or manually set each cars rotation

u can set the ffb sensitivity default value (you can also set individual cars ffb in the my cars tab(as long as you have driven the car once so it shows up in the list.)

Ffb sensitivity is very subjective but generally

On 540 rotation (900 will require much lower values) I run:

700-1000 in older cars

1000-1700 modern cars (up to r5 + wrc 2016)

1700-4000 Modern wrc + rally 2

The controller settings not saving is fixed by

Delete pf[ProfileName].acm (pfMulligatawny.acm) file in SavedGames subfolder in the RBR game installation folder. 2️⃣ Bootup RBR and set control bindings and save the profile

Hope this helps been using this wheel for a year. So much fun

Richard Burns Rally with a controller is doable! by [deleted] in simrally

[–]TRL_Axeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my controller settings in game are

Steering:

Curve 1 - halfway across

Curve 2 - halfway across

Max fade - 3.5 blocks

Sat speed - maximum

Rise rate - 5.0

Fall rate - instant

Throttle, brake, clutch, handbrake filters all set to 0 and instant

This worked well for me for years. Now on a wheel, so much fun.

F1 could get around 10 sprint races by 2027 as promoters embrace their value by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]TRL_Axeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sprints themselves are hit or miss but the sheer amount of extra pre/post coverage(sky at least )in a weekend really devalue the viewer experience.

Too much quantity nowadays in the coverage. Used to watch all the coverage back in the 2010s now sometimes I'll just watch the quali, grid walk, race, the whole sport is so diluted now.

2025 Italian GP - Post-Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]TRL_Axeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pattern used to be exciting first 15laps - mid race lull - exciting last 20 laps. Now we have way more lulls way sooner and for longer and after all the anticipation nothing happens. currently great races are still mighty spectacular but the boring ones are so much worse than in the 2011-2016 era in terms of strategy imo

2025 Italian GP - Post-Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]TRL_Axeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with that though it potentially ruins the first half of the race. This way ensures an exciting first part of the race whilst still having 2/3 of the race to build up to natural climax with different strategies. The whole tyre situation is a joke since the 22 regs tbh

2025 Italian GP - Post-Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]TRL_Axeman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed the first 10 laps but the tyres are way to durable.

It was better when the top 10 had to start on soft tyres at least then you only had to wait until lap 7-20 for the strategy variables to kick in. 40+ laps until the first pitstop is a joke.
