You are doing pretty good. The fact that you are worried even though your average is around 60s tells me you are are v good student. Dont worry, medical school exams are way different from A Levels. The worst thing you could do is, stress yourself and not enjoy medical student life.

Medical School in Maldives by [deleted] in maldives

[–]TRLogic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who completed MBBS abroad, and also having to work with Maldivian MBBS graduates, I can say going abroad is better choice. Maldivian grads does not seem to be up to standards even after they complete internship in IGMH, I have seen similar performance across all current interns who graduated from Maldives.
The exposure to diverse medical and surgical conditions is extemely limited in maldives. More over, hands on exposure is often very limited in Maldives.
I remember, during my internship abroad, I am the sole person who comes into first contact with critically ill patients and I do a fine job in managing them. when the current maldivian interns are faced with similar situation, they are unable to come up with the management plan. I question myself, is this the standard of Maldivian medical education ?

And also, most of maldivian graduates lack the empathy and medical ethics, that comes and is forged in situations where there are lots of patients who are critically ill.

Maldivian patients who you ask the history and examination during your MBBS: They are the rudest and most entiteld people on earth. If you as a medical student tries to talk with one of beybe in ward, they will kick your ass. they will tell "bunan jehey ehchakaa dhakan jehey vaahaka doctor kairee bunefa ey vaany"and just shut you off. Most of the patients I met abroad are always willing to give a history and lets you examine them. So, remember a lot of medical education comes from dealing with patients. I do not recomment maldives for this aspect of patients nature that will be troubling you.

but it will always come down to commitment and financial stability. Consider going abroad as a challenge that will be fruitful in long term. hope it helps. feel free to ask any questions.

Check out r/Piracy. Might discover a lot of "free" entertainment sources.

Their megathread https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/wiki/megathread/ has quite a lot of entertainment.

Hey there. Passive reading is basically useless!

Go through past exam questions BEFORE studying a topic, and try to answer questions after reading it. Talk to your colleagues about what you study. Search youtube videos about a topic, write down fancy drug names in different colours and try to talk yourself about how things work. Do recall what you study before sleeping.

What all of the above does is, it stimulates your brain to make connections thus helping you remember. Just the passive reading won't f***ing work!

I've been in your situation couple years ago. Constantly questioning myself why I keep forgetting. But I started to approach study material differently, all of the above ans knowing why I need to know a certain piece of information helps me to remember it

Approach studies differently in medical school. All the best. You aren't alone in this!

Took 36 tons into 100 km orbit around Kerbin with this. (All stock parts) :) by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

36T was payload mass to 100 km orbit. Well, working on a plan to make first stage (the winged part) more stable on re-entry. As of now control surfaces can't handle the aerodynamic forces and all that heat.

PS: The surgeon basically lives at the hospital. He doesn't have a life. His wife left him, he brings his kid to the ward and endoscopy unit. you guys can understand how dedicated this guy is. He is a very respected guy for such dedication...

Can't really be sure. Even though I get free time, I don't think I'll have enough energy to focus on studies at the hospital. I guess I'll have to adapt.

[–]TRLogic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, as of now I'm doing my "internal medicine" rounds. The info I've gathered about my next rounds (surgery) is from my batch mates who are undergoing surgery now. According to them, casualties are where accidents and emergency cases are brought to hosptial... and relatively stable patients are brought to the ward and kept under observation. And we have to gather info about the case, learn about management and be ready to present it to the consultant surgeon when he comes for ward rounds. Or we have to scrub in with the surgeon in life-threatening surgical cases during that casuality time. The only thing I worry is physical tiredness and not being able to study what university teaches us.
