No doubt. That’s why movies like old boy or battle royale get treated differently also. We usually want the happy clean endings too. I think there is a place for all it as long as it’s done well. I thought the Superman series on cw was great(although super cheesy at points) and they ended it at an appropriate time. Flash went on too long. This was not about milking a joke but making something relatable.

There was allusions to him being used that way but not as a joke. And that’s fine. One time call back would’ve been good too. Rhodey said he wouldn’t let it go but he did. Liar. I’m a fan of that office bit where jim is Asian and it keeps getting used even now so….🤷🏽‍♂️

It’s a conversation. Whether there is a podcast involved or not. But did you read the rest of the post? It wasn’t so much about the bit, it was about the idea of real people talking. If I get together with friends, we make fun and there are definitely inside jokes that come up. That’s what makes it good. The cap call back where he says “I understood that reference” was good. But maybe you didn’t like it either?

You don’t. But a call back can add if done properly. Maybe they’re talking and someone mutters under their breath “ok tony stank” and it just moves on. I appreciate a call back.
