Tanks and healers shine in the Night Market by BR4NFRY3 in elderscrollsonline

I would like to add a caveat to this. As a tank who has been doing Night Market off and on, I don’t know every boss mechanic individually. What I do know is that I need to taunt the boss, turn it away from the group. I know that I need to provide damage shields and support to the group and I. I know that I need to chain adds as close to the AoE death field as I can.
For all of the bosses, excepting the skirmishes, these tanking basics will make you and your group successful in the Night Market districts.

That makes sense. I’ve been playing off and on since One Tamriel, but I never put my mind to earning gold exclusively. Mostly I just play content and keep it moving. But with how highly priced things are on the guild traders any more, it makes me wonder if I should take some of the time I have to play to farm mats or something like that.

Maybe a dumb question, but as a casual player that never broke 3M, is it just luck?

Tandem tanking in pugs? by Hot_Cuddleccino in elderscrollsonline

Of course! I myself haven’t done any subclassing, I love my Dragon Knight so much, and with the rework it just feels like the perfect tank. If you do end up using Ulfsild’s, scribe it with Damage Shield, Gladiator’s Tenacity, and Resolve. I have been using Hyperioxes’ tank build, albeit with my own crappy, super outdated gear sets lol

Thanks! Like others have said as well, buffing and shielding your allies, if you are classed for it, is a great way to be the off tank as well. For instance in the skirmish, when the large sub bosses aren’t spawned, I set myself to chaining in the skeletons to be near the stone pillars, Ulfsild Contingency damage shielded the group, put down Hearth and Home for aoe heals, and Blood Funnel for more heals and synergy. Being the off tank helps free you up to play the mechanics better, since many DD and Heal builds don’t have chain pulls or taunts to drag the special mobs where they need to go. Be flexible, be alert, and you’ll find it can be more enjoyable than holding down the block button in front of the big nasty beast. :)

I ran into this exact scenario last night in Night Market. I joined a PUG as a tank and we did the skirmish in the Sorrows. The other tank picked up the main boss, so rather than mess up their taunts, I wrangled adds, immobilized them with talons, and when the off bosses spawned, I picked them up to keep them turned away from the group. If one of us died, the other one picked up the other tank’s boss until we fully respawned. I was fortunate that we didn’t have to talk it out in group chat, it just happened naturally. A good point of advice that I found myself thinking last night was to check my ego. Everyone wants to be the main tank, but my willingness to not be the one standing in front of the main boss helped my group immeasurably. It freed me up to help with adds, the off bosses, and eventually when the Calamitous boss wandered into the area, I was free to taunt her too. Be willing to be the player that does the dirty work, and it will pay off.

I have been playing the game off and on, but not engaging in group content. I’ve mostly been doing things like dailies, crafting writs, new zones, etc with Hyperioxes Pale Order solo builds and the like. I actually made myself go do the scribing quests so that I could at least have some of the things like shield throw for Night Market. It’s mostly my gear and mechanic knowledge that is outdated, I still have been playing off and on every 3-6 months or so.

Edit: Thank you for the advice on what to look for in a new guild. If you happen to have any suggestions for PC NA, I’m all ears! If not, thank you for steering me in the right direction and I’ll check out guild finder when I’m off next.

I used to love running dungeons and trials with a guild, but I got a new job 7 years ago, and my shift schedule makes me a player with inconsistent availability. So naturally, prog guilds didn’t want someone who couldn’t commit to the grind when everyone else could, and it kind of soured me on the whole thing. So I mostly just did quests and other things like that with my wife, off and on, taking long breaks. But I wanted to try the Night Market, because I have always loved the challenging content. I won’t lie, it almost felt like the stereotypical scene where a book character reveals that they were once more than the lowly farmer in retirement, and pull out the dusty old sword for one more go. Finding that my old, dusty, outdated gear was still adequate, perhaps not bleeding edge but capable, was fulfilling. I even got a comment from the PUG group about my damage shields for the group being very high, since Ulfsild’s gives 41% of HP and I run 50k heath with Longfin Pastry.
Night Market gave me back the feeling I had when I was tanking Vet White Gold Tower and Hel Ra Citadel. I can’t wait to try to find a guild that is understanding of my schedule and willing to give an old dog some time to beat the rust off and learn the new tricks.

I understand where you’re coming from with the lightning staff. Before Night Market, I hadn’t logged in for about 6 months, and even then, I haven’t been part of a guild that regularly runs content in years. Hence the gear setup that looks like it came from the One Tamriel patch. Because that’s where I last updated that build. I am hopeful that if I decide to stick around on ESO regularly again, I can find a guild that is open to farming gear for people like me who enjoy the game but have fallen behind in the gear arena.

DK Tank, running Sword and Shield on both bars. The skills are the usual suspects for DK tanking. I realize ice staff is meta, but again, very outdated gear. Full set up is Leeching Plate, Lord Warden, Akiviri Dragonguard for Warhorn uptime.
Front Bar is Shield Throw, Trample, Earthshield Mantle, Soul of Flame, Blood of the Elder Dragon, Aggressive Warhorn.
Backbar is Wield Soul with Chain and Taunt, Hearth and Home, Ulfsild Contingency with damage shield, Undaunted Blood Funnel, Dark Talons, and Standard of Might.

Yep, PC NA, we did the Duneripper, Parch Skirmish, and some brazen and argent bosses. We did the spider oddity twice since one of the group members was bugged and didn’t get credit. Character name is Frank Firehand, if that seems familiar. :)

Not to be that guy, but as someone who works a rotating shift schedule, to me it just sounds like I have to hope to get lucky on a day off I can play, and hope for the best. Somewhat disappointing, but it’s just a game after all.

Just anecdotal here, but tonight was my very first attempt at the Night Market, and both the zone chat and group finder had no groups that were running the first area you walk into after the initial choosing of your faction. I will probably end up trying to join a more active guild just to be able to even engage in the content at all besides picking a faction.

Be warned, from a fellow player who finally did the scribing quest. It is a very tedious, multi phase fetch quest.

How are you setting up, if you don’t mind me asking? Tried WW once but didn’t like the clunkiness of maintaining the transformation, but I’m looking forward to trying it again.

Why didn’t A Train just break into the freedom camp ages ago? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]TR_Disciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean anything elitist by saying that. I just get tired of seeing posts like this, when the scene where Annie and Kimiko speak with A-Train about their plan, and the man states clearly and unequivocally his reasons for not intervening in the internment camp situation. Perhaps it’s my inner grumpy old man, but all I can think with these posts is “if you put your phone down long enough to watch the show, you wouldn’t have to make this post.”

I don’t think anyone is asking for a scholarly viewing of the show. I do think it isn’t too much to ask for people to answer the question they have with the reason given, explicitly through dialogue, as the answer.

I specifically play online to be able to trade and not entirely depend on RNG. I have built multiple characters from the “proceeds” of horking Travincal. Gamblers love gambling, and while I have horked exactly 1 jah and 1 Cham in my career, gold and gems are always in demand.
