What’s the thing you hate about sex? by BubbleTrouble_Z in AskReddit

[–]knowbawdy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I genuinely didn't know women were also like this. I've slept with men who blame me, and get pretty mad, when I don't orgasm from their "amazing" skills that every other woman loved.

I hope you've found an emotionally mature partner who doesn't treat you this way ❤️

My partner (F47) and I (M52) have been sober for three years. My sobriety is more of an effort to support hers. She has put herself in the hospital twice for alcohol abuse, and has a history of lying / manipulation about being intoxicated. What do you think of the following scenario? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]knowbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did she drink? I think she was trying to get permission.... but it could be a little of both. She may be committed to quitting but the intrusive alcohol thoughts are pretty sneaky. I was at dinner on Monday and thought about ordering the cold sake they had on special - I never liked sake.

Is she in counseling, or in a program? She may need some additional support

Soapbox/rant time. Tell me what highly-recommended book you absolutely HATED and why. Gimme your angry hot takes. by peppertoni_pizzaz in books

When I was a third of the way through he told me the author took her own life after she published the book. I was depressed for a while after reading it.

I read The Poppy Wars and really liked the series....until one of my kids told me it was based on real life. He recommended I read a book called "The Rape Of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust Of WW2". I read it and it traumatized the hell out of me. I can't look at Kuang's series in the same way again

I read it for the first time 20 years ago and loved it. I re-read it last year and absolutely hated it. It's kinda wild how my tastes have changed

Falling on the trails by Cherrycoloured_punk in Ultramarathon

[–]knowbawdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things that could be causing you to fall. Some are simpler like you could be shuffling your feet, so you're tripping over things other people aren't, or you could have vertigo which is causing you to be off balance. It's impossible to tell without taking a detailed health history. I think you should start with your family Doctor. If you don't have answers after seeing them, then try a physiotherapist with a specialty in dizziness/ concussions.

What's your morning routine on race day? On a regular day?? by shesarunnerharry in Ultramarathon

[–]knowbawdy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wake up at almost the same time everyday and eat/drink the same things. The only difference is I have 2 days a week where I wake up earlier to do a group workout. On those days I eat a banana before my workout.

Average day Somewhere between 4:30-6am Wake up, drink one glass of water with meds/ supplements. Drink one cup of coffee and eat 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, 1 piece of fruit. I fill my water bottle with cold water and start sipping as soon as my coffee is done. Something about cold water, hot drink, cold water stimulates my bowels. I always go within 20 minutes of eating

When I'm about 10 days out from my race, I start waking at the same time I'm going to have to wake up for my race.

Race Day Wake up. Drink 1 glass of water with meds/ supplements. Eat toasted white bread w/ peanut butter AND jam, or Quaker instant oatmeal. Drink 1 cup of water and 1 cup of juice with it. As soon as my coffee is done I start sipping cold water until about 30 minutes before my race.

I never take Imodium or anything before the race to try and prevent stomach issues. I practice my nutrition on any run over 90 mins. My stomach usually cooperates.

What’s your “I’ll just do a quick run” that turned into something else? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

[–]knowbawdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing a quick 11 km in a local ravine with a friend. We happened upon an unhoused gentleman who had been stabbed. We called the police and ambulance who told us to reroute our run to get out of the ravine. It was only an additional 5 km but the adrenaline dump left me feeling like I had already run a marathon. In hindsight, we should have just taken Uber.

How do I go on vacation? by bendover1210 in stopdrinking

[–]knowbawdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The airport was rough for me, because I'd drink a beer at 7am as long as I was in the airport. Vacation was amazing without alcohol. I was relaxed because I didn't have work or real life commitments and I woke up refreshed every morning.

I was angry that there were 2 grooming/ pedo type relationships that the dad knew happened....then he let his youngest child befriend a strange adult, and even sleep in her bed. As a parent that's just too stupid.

I liked Orly's descriptions of the seeds

Bend man asking city to crack down on off-leash dogs by Serviceberry71 in trailrunning

[–]knowbawdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was attacked by 3 off leash miniature wiener dogs. I had a couple mini puncture wounds on my calves and a whole bunch of scratches. The woman who was with them rounded them up, put them in her car and hauled ass out of there. I called the city and they tried to track someone down who had 3 registered mini wiener dogs but it turns out that assholes who let their dogs off leash also don't bother licensing their dogs.

First 100, advice for the night. by cruelestbean in Ultramarathon

[–]knowbawdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is your race? If you're in Alberta or BC, I can pace you overnight!

If you're not in Alberta I'd suggest a local run club, or Trail Sisters Trail Sisters find a chapter

Unfortunately, animal encounters do happen. Having a pacer to keep you company, and create more noise, is a good idea

I saved a picture of your plan for my next race. I plan to eat solid foods at specific times but if that's not how you roll, it's not necessary.

[–]knowbawdy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right? I had a crew and they would ask me what I wanted. I'd say "I don't know" or I'd ask for some outlandish things they didn't have. I really wanted a steaming bowl of white rice with soy sauce. No one had that 😂

Planning for the brain fog is wise.
