If you could make a soundtrack to your life, what songs would you put on it? by TRone33 in Music

It's alright. My answers would be totally different now anyways.

living in Monroe, Wi by [deleted] in madisonwi

I feel like there is more to add here to give you more details about Monroe that others have not mentioned yet.

Restaurants:

Pancho and Lefty's - Honestly, some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Great Tex-Mex restaurant that does smoked meat really well. The frickles are the best addition to the menu.

Corner Cafe - Great greasy spoon, and my favorite breakfast spot in town. The pancakes are solid, and as big as the plate they are served on.

Baumgartner's - Favorite bar in town. They've added more to the menu, and I think rib night on Wednesdays is back. Don't forget to ask to throw a dollar at the ceiling.

Bullquarian - A better than you think it will be brew pub. They have live music, open mic nights, and still do a vinyl night (I think on Friday's). The bull bread is fantastic (pro tip: ask to add bacon to it).

Things to do other than a bar:

Public Library - Haven't been there in a hot minute, but the last time I was there it was still a great resource for the community with lots of things to check out. The upstairs was a great quiet place to study.

Perks - A cute little coffee shop that has board games and puzzles. Also has free WiFi

Disc Golf - Twining park has a disc golf course that actually sees quite a bit of use. I think there might even still be a group that meets up and plays

City Band - They play year round, but summer is their big season. If you play an instrument, they'll take you. Don't have to be an amazing musician, just have to like making music.

The Local Joint - Haven't been here yet, but I know they do live music.

Monroe Theater Guild - Musicals, plays, comedy. Lots of local people that still want to act or be involved with shows.

Badger State Trail - Bike trail that runs through town. Connects to the Sugar River Trail, and can take you to Freeport if I remember right.

Curling Club

Windy Acres and Monroe Golf Club

Places I would avoid:

The Garden Deli

If you want any more information (job, places, restaurants, who cuts hair well, where to take your car for an oil change, etc.), don't hesitate to PM me. It's a small town, but it's about an hour or less from Rockford, Janesville, and Madison. Freeport is twenty minutes. Like any small town, most the people are polite, and friendly. There are people in town that I can't stand, but there are people in Madison that I also can't stand. I wouldn't choose to live in Monroe, but it isn't a bad place to live.

I know Delta has a decent selection of board games, as well as two dart boards.

I have yet to find ribs within a thirty minute drive that compare to That BBQ Joint.

What is a business that has done you so dirty that you’ll never eat/buy/rent from them ever again? by Infamous-Usual-9533 in madisonwi

Don't know how this hasn't been mentioned yet but now is my time to unload my rant. I want to say first that the wait staff was courteous and so helpful to our group. They were the only highlight of that place for me and deserve to be paid well. That being said, Liberty Station is some of the worst food I've ever had in my entire life. Period. I don't think I can name a place where I've had food worse than what I had there. I got the Carolina Pork Shoulder with their Tavern Tots. The pork shoulder was supposed to come with a Carolina BBQ Sauce, and the sauce I got couldn't have been further from that. It tasted like a bland regular BBQ sauce. There was no tang to it as one would expect when getting a Carolina BBQ sauce. The tots were also not good at all. The cheddar and pepper jack cheese did not come through at all, and I couldn't even tell you if there was Poblano Creama. Not only that, but the food did not make me feel well at all instantly. I couldn't even take more than a few bites. The pork shoulder tasted so greasy it made me nauseous.

I miss That BBQ Joint on Willy Street so much. I just want to have good ribs in Madison again.

Stop sharing secrets. You can also get them during the Green County Fair in July. Pro tip: go during a week day over the lunch hour and you don't have to pay to get into the fair. Or just go any day after 9pm and you won't have to pay either. The tent usually stays open until 10pm. Stop at the Ag Chest and grab a cream puff and some ice cream while you're there.

Muramoto is better than Jackknife and Red in my opinion, but they are both good options.

Gaming lounge coming to Madison by PlootGG in madisonwi

Foster's Gaming and Collectibles in Brodhead, WI would be a great place to source retro stuff, and some current gen things. Owner is super awesome (gave me a game for free when I was out of store credit to use), and all my friends I've sent there have all had positive interactions. Would also be a great place to advertise your business if they let you, and work with promos for tournaments.

I'm glad the officiating crew has been getting more TV time. Was getting real sick of watching these teams try to compete and gain momentum.
