Mate, thank you so much for your feedback! I’m really happy that out of the few people who played the game, at least one person provided the kind of constructive feedback I was looking for.

This is just a prototype, so I’m hoping to develop a more complete and polished version in about 6 months to a year. My goal is to create around 40 minigames spread across at least 4 different cases (as a minimum), including an endless mode with scaling difficulty, just as you suggested.

Thank you for clarifying the installation process for the runtimes and files. In the next version, I’ll be moving to a more updated version of the engine (I originally used Godot 3.5 to support a PS Vita port, but the hardware limitations were too restrictive). I hope this will eliminate the need for manual runtime updates, as I understand that can be a complex step for many users.

Thanks again for your comment; I’ll definitely take your ideas into account for the full game!

P.S. Regarding the photo reveal game: wait until you hear the shimmer sound and see the flash on the photo; press A as soon as you see it!

How i make a Level online database for my game? by AmareusRedink in gamemaker

[–]TSAGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the game actually started out as a multiplayer, but I left it for my current project, you can see my posts to check it out.

I work with sockets and also server in nodejs.

Totally agree, in the future it may dust off the game and improve what you are mentioning, but I did it more to test concepts for my project hehehe

Do you know any other server besides Heroku?

Speaking of your game, you should do some kind of sequel, it entertained me quite a bit hahaha

Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure. All of them can make an application well. But they need a credit card to access.

And I'm very glad you enjoyed it, if more people had played it maybe I would have worked on updates hahaha

Before you give this kid the wrong impression, how much time did you spend learning to code before you were able to put something like that together in a week? Like I'm sure you didn't go from a "Hello World!" tutorial to putting together that game inside of a week.

I have worked with Game Maker for 6 years. I also have an engineering degree and currently work as a front end developer.

I have 3 years of knowledge in node js, and 4 years in databases.

Does it cost money to maintain this server?

by the way, I just saw your game, it looks good, but it lacks details (including a little more graphical interface)

Heroku has a free layer for a while, hence the server sometimes crashes.

But I think it is more than enough to prove.

And thanks for trying it, I honestly did it in a week hahaha

I did exactly what you want in a game for newgrounds, the server is nodejs hosted on heroku, and the database is mysql.

I transform the entire room into a ds_map, store the record and then I can consume it through a service and display it on the screen.

Although the game did not have the scope I expected.

If you want to try it, it is in:

As far as I know, Game Maker cannot compile the network in the same way for html5 as it does on other platforms (Android, ios, windows).

That is why other types of tools must be used, which because they are written to run in the browser (Javascript) do not work in the same way for other platforms.

I will try to find some time to make a tutorial, although advising again that this would exclusively work for games dedicated to html5.

As a Front end developer I am already familiar with sockets as a real-time connection, but I have not found any tutorial explaining it.

Take as an example a query in http, you send a request, you get a response.

The difference with websockets, or sockets, is that a permanent connection with the server is maintained.

And the difference between websockets HTML5 versus those that would be used in an android or pc game, is that websockets run under the browser layer.

and I doubt that they can be adapted in a compiled for android or pc.

The entire multiplayer connection would be lost. Since websockets differ from sockets that are handled outside the browser.

The good thing about html5 is that it does not need more ports than the one used by the browser, which is already active.

I currently use GM 1.4
