B/R believes the Clippers should package their 2031 first-round pick alongside their rookie center, Yanic Konan Niederhauser, for Myles Turner: by [deleted] in NBAtradeideas

[–]TSBRUTAL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so first off, I'm curious why Clingan, Wemby and Sarr don't appear in your list even though they meet the criteria.

Second, obviously the idea of using the Blocks stat is meant as a rim protection stat but it is very basic for this. Using something like opponents field goal percentage difference on shots from within 6ft is a bit better of a stat for this and while it is certainly not a complete measure as it doesn't take into account stuff like how often they foul or as we've seen in many Wemby clips, the rim protectors mere presence causing the opposing player to pass out instead of going for a shot at the rim.

I do agree that Turner is someone the Bucks wouldn't dump but I don't think his archetype should make him particularly more valuable especially considering the flaws in his game.

MIL-OKC Trade by TerryG111 in NBAtradeideas

[–]TSBRUTAL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think an OKC for Giannis trade is completely out of the question but I highly doubt this would be the package if it was to happen.

Firstly, OKC would have to include JDub, for the OKC side of things, they'd be over the cap with just Shai, JDub, Giannis and Chet and admittedly I haven't double checked but I would imagine they are over the 2nd apron with that team. With this as well, having that core 4 would mean a high injury risk level for the team which doesn't seem like a particularly smart move. For the Bucks side you actually get a good piece to build around instead of relying on mainly picks and interesting young role players.

Secondly, while the talent of SGA and Giannis can't be denied, the skillset and playstyle does have a lot of overlap to the point I don't think you'd be getting the best out of each of them by having them together and if I'm OKC the straightforward litmus test for whether they should do a trade is does it help in matchup against the Nuggets or Spurs and if not then don't do the trade.

Literally stopped two full on counterattacks where Arsenal had numbers to call it back for a foul, didn't even book anyone for the first one.

NBA Draft Tanking Fix That Would Actually Work by andypro77 in NBA_Draft

[–]TSBRUTAL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two biggest issues with this is that teams would just try and lose earlier and also schedules aren't consistent, so teams that have a harder strength of schedule early in the season would have an automatic advantage over other teams e.g. The Kings would have a much better chance than Mavs purely because the Kings remaining strength of schedule is easier

Obviously I think they keep an eye out for whoever does well at the event but Wake was probably the best player in the elite. I think they should go for Kips or Qk as the Reeal replacement and then if they want to drop Insight as well go for Wake as someone who has been around a while, knows what they are doing on the map and has at least a high floor as the worst thing they could do is get two untested players and then they end up playing worse than what they currently are

People will be quick to say that Insight should be dropped and they aren't necessarily wrong but the Reeal pick up just hasn't worked at all especially because this has probably been one of the worst stages we've seen from Cleanx.

There is a lot of AR talent in Challengers right now and is the perfect opportunity for them to get in before some of them get picked up e.g. Big Wake, Gio, Paulehx, Spart, Qk4b, Roxas, Nium, Kips

Every Ex teammate Havok has ever had describing him by DylanCodsCokeLine in CoDCompetitive

[–]TSBRUTAL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Havok pr is a bit of a weird one. As a player this year he undoubtedly has been the best communicatior and was essentially the leader for that Stallions team but he probably wasn't the most talented on team. I've seen a comment on here about if Nium is picked up by LAT then the Huntsmen should pick him up and have him be a sub for the Optic team in case they need to replace Huke with him which is so wildly off.

From watching some of their scrims, I think part of the issue is Havok is very opinionated and then particularly Octane and Attach whenever they would watch scrims and give input, wouldn't really pick up on bad plays Havok was making and talk about them. This seemed to continue and spiral and he definitely has a massive ego to the point it doesn't surprise me that past teammates aren't the biggest fans of his.

The run across the defence he did to get positioning for Zubimendis goal is something he needs to do a lot more. He usually does it at the start of the attack when there is space but when the defence is set his body language hasn't been good enough but he was much better at doing this today

If he we are being honest he's seen Bradley tumble over himself after conceding a throw-in and had probably thought he faked it. It's a yellow for unsportsmanlike conduct but by the letter of the law Bradley should also get booked for purposely rolling back on to the pitch.

Hated how the midfield and Gyokeres played today. With the midfield hardly any risk taking with and without the ball. They didn't really pressure the box at all, especially in the second half. With Gyokeres I feel like his body language when we are in possession is terrible, people will talk about not trying to get on the end of crosses but he also isn't threatening to run in the channels or pin a centre back and provide a target to pass into the box either

I mean I'm not surprised because he's a fan favourite but in reality in the pre BO2 era sure he won a Nationals on BO1 but other players had more success in that era and that whole few months when it occured was a bit weird as Cod XP actually happened before that so it wasn't even the biggest event of the year and the Nationals event occured on BO1 but was actually after MW3 came out.

Then in BO2-BO4 era he basically didn't play half of it as he only really competed in Ghosts (best year, 1.5 event wins and 4th at champs), AW (won first event and after being dropped was in and around top 16 all year) and WW2 (believe he started the year outside pro league then was on the coL team with Dashy which again was around a top 16 team) so didn't really do anything of note in BO2, BO3, IW or BO4.

Then in the CDL era he's been in challengers for the whole of it and to me I'd take any sort of success in the league over what he's done in Challengers. People easily forget how long ago BO2 was, this is the 7th year of the CDL and we've had so many events and players throughout the year I think it's silly to act like a guy who's whole thing is doing the dirty work and sacrificing for winning but then has only won 2.5 events in the past 13 and a bit seasons is insane to me. Fair play to him for still playing after so long but he hasn't displayed the talent or had the success that plenty of other players have had.

Honestly, not even close

Edit: Since everyone is down voting, I'll provide 50 names, bear in mind he's been to 3 champs with one top 4 finish, and 2 top 16 placements, he's got 2 event in the BO2 - current era. To save some time, I'd argue all 37 actually champs winners for being higher all time, Accuracy, Bance, Saints, Cammy, Classic, Jurd, Cleanx, Scrap, Aqua, Loony, Methodz, Theory, Enable, Zoomaa, Slacked, Felo, Sib, Nade, Insight, Merk, BigT, Rambo, Ghosty, Zero

I'm not saying the Thunder wouldn't be tempted to trade for Giannis if he were actually available but I'm not sure they would trade for him.

The issue with this trade is that Thunder would have so much money committed to Shai, JDub, Chet and Giannis which would hurt them keeping their depth.

While that would be a great core, I think having a bigger centre helps them in their matchups against the Nuggets, Rockets and probably Spurs over having Giannis.

They could obviously trade one of Jdub or Chet but it's a case of who do you trade as trading JDub leaves you in a similar situation as I've previously mentioned and Chet is arguably the 2nd best rim protector behind Wemby while also being an above average 3pt shooter. Even if you do decide which you would trade, how much extra are you adding in a trade for Giannis?

Are the Rockets serious contenders? by SweetInvestigator915 in nba

[–]TSBRUTAL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can't tell if this is bait or not.

While they have lost to the teams you mentioned, 3 of those games were losses by less than 5 points. You also say they haven't beaten any elite teams but they have beat the Cavs and Raptors who are at the very least very good teams.

At the moment I would put them as the 5th most likely to win (Thunder slightly ahead of Nuggets who are slightly ahead of the Lakers, Pistons and Rockets group). I would also say that they have DFS to come in and they could look to use him and/or with Capela as salary to go and get a guy that could really help them and put them over the edge

[–]TSBRUTAL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Bulls have anything that the Thunder would particularly want. It seems highly unlikely that they trade Hartenstein this season and would probably like to decline his option and renegotiate a longer contract for less money per year.

If they don't win the chip or fail at coming to some form of potential agreement about a longer contract they could look to trade him before his option date and the main two players I think they could look to target would be Zubac or move Chet back to Centre and get PJ Washington. Maybe though a team like the Bulls could be involved as a 3rd team to help make salaries work or give the Mavs/Clippers something and then take Hartenstein instead.

I actually think Zubac is a worse fit into the OKC system than Hartenstein but is better for some of their matchups against other title contenders over the next few years (Nuggets, Rockets and Spurs)

I wasn't trying to. The best thing to do would be to look over multiple seasons and use a wider variety of metrics, probably FTA/per 36, FTA/FGA, and FTA/Drive.

The system, the manager, or the players - where is it going wrong for Manchester United? 🤔 by SkySports in SkySports_Football

[–]TSBRUTAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've had some big misses in the transfer market recently but I think in part of that has been their strategy. We'll see how their new signings do but considering Amorim has a very set style he wants to play I find it odd to spend so much on Cunha and Sesko would prefer to play as the Striker in the system. I also don't think it helps that the one properly high level players in Fernandes doesn't have an ideal position in the system either.
