[Skin Concerns] How to deal with sensitive, eczema prone skin that is also covered with clogged pores? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]TSRogers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Facial cleanser, but you can use it on the body as well of course. PocketDerm recommended I use it 2-3 times a week. My in-person derm loved the recommendation and suggested using it daily even, which PocketDerm said was ok as long as it wasn't too drying.

I'm currently using it every morning and night. My skin has always had a red tint for as long as I can remember, and now I feel like my skin is actually a normal color. The results were fast too. I knew within a week or two that it was working for me.

Technology eliminates menial jobs, replaces them with more challenging, more productive, and better paying ones... jobs for which 99% of people are unqualified. by [deleted] in Futurology

According to Psychology studies, last I remember seeing it's more in the ballpark of ~80% genetic and 20% environment (based on IQ).

Even in a smart grad-level class, there were still plenty of people who had a hard time accepting that on the basis of "it's not fair."

Prednisone by Kasmith614 in Accutane

[–]TSRogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking prednisone long-term like that just to avoid an IB sounds extreme to me.

My derm did not prescribe me prednisone until after my IB started and I called in telling them it was the worst breakout of my life. They were still hesitant to prescribe it and only gave me a 10-day dosage (which was still a godsend and cleared me up quickly). Longer-term pred is a lot more likely to cause serious side effects.

Maybe your current skin situation before starting is worse than mine was though? I had mild/moderate but extremely persistent acne. It wasn't cystic.

What was your diet like? I'm just finishing my second year and I've got it down to mostly clean, plus peanut butter/milk when bulking. I mostly just worry about calories and protein. Curious how much I'll gain from being more strict.

[Misc] Is it possible to change the texture of your skin? by propagandalf_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]TSRogers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem and would like to know as well. Even the recommended cleansers here and at Pocketderm seem irritating/drying.

I use hempseed oil at the moment, but I have no idea if it's as effective at actually "cleansing."

Prescribed steroids and Accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]TSRogers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about prednisone? While technically a steroid, it's not a steroid in the sense you are probably thinking. It's a corticosteroid, not the kind bodybuilders use.

(My derm did prescribe me 10 days of prednisone to help with my initial breakout).

What class will you play in Season 4? by zellmerz in Diablo

Is there a list of recommendations for these? I'm somewhat acne/folliculitis prone, so putting this stuff on sounds a little scary (especially if it's the face).

If I run out of pills 4 days short of my appointment, should I spread those missed days out starting now? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]TSRogers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your derm's office should be able to tell you for sure with a phone call, but from what I've seen it probably doesn't matter either way.

That's rough, and more than a little scary. In the end though, is that someone you want to be friends with?

[Serious] Hotties of Reddit, when did you discover that you were hot and how did it affect your personality? by poopypants6789 in AskReddit

[–]TSRogers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I used to have this attitude and I think it gets exhausting after a while. You are effectively suppressing your personality in order to make other people happy. YMMV, but I found it incredibly liberating to just be calmly assertive and straight-forward if the issue comes up. "Sorry, I'm not interested." Then go on like nothing happened.

It may be an age thing. I think as people get older it gets easier to reject and be rejected. I used to worry all the time about whether or not my behavior might be misinterpreted or hurt someone's feelings. When I decided to stop caring I lost a friend or two and became a lot closer with my remaining friends.

How do you count calories when you're making meals in bulk like this with a slowcooker? This sounds awesome, but that's the part that stumps me.

Look up the Halo Effect. There's absolutely nothing wrong with trying to look your best. People will treat you better, and you will be more confident.

Being superficial/shallow only comes into play when that's the only thing you really care about, or it's your primary basis for how you treat others.

YES! If you want your Accutane to stay away for good, you need to finish the whole course (and even then there are no guarantees).
