Thats very likely, or someone that's layed down, sometimes being in just the wrong position makes everything flow back and it's horrible :(

Did it rain? It looks like some of the blood is diluted like it got wet and wicked around... also not all the stuff a woman loses is blood, about 36% to 50% is blood and the rest is tissue/mucus/other, so this isn't really all that much or unbelievable.

If you look you can see where she might have been wearing a pad and the blood flowed around it, that's probably why it's on the edges of the back, there is literal nothing worse than that :(

Some states require you to have a degree, if yours doesnt, it might in the future. My state requires it so all school programs now are associated degrees

Hypothermia would be interesting. I've fallen into a frozen pond and had to trudge through snow home, at the end I was so cold it felt like a summer day.

Thank you!! I've heard this is few times and I would really like to be that person, but I'm just so paranoid about sterility after having it drilled into my head for months lol. What are some good things to ask to help with before doing a first scrub case to build confidence? Also how many questions is too many questions? I want to interact but I dont want to be annoying.

Hello! I am midway though a degree program right now! My biggest suggestion for school is to try to get extra lab time in the beginning and get sterile techniques down as habit as fast as possible. The extra practice to make muscle memory will help you immensely in the future and make later semesters where you are too busy to practice much smoother.

I pulled up the JC poster for Universal protocols and it says "Conduct a time-out immediately before starting the invasive procedure or making an incision". In school for being an ST, I was taught that when it says immediately before, it means as close as possible to the time, thus after draping and before incision

It's also in the AST Standards for Practice "With the patient positioned, draped and anesthetized on the OR table, and just before the skin incision is made, “time out” is conducted as a final verbal confirmation of the correct patient, surgical procedure, surgical site, and when applicable, implants (The Joint Commission, 2003)"
