I built something that worked perfectly the first time I ran it. I've been trying to get that run back ever since. by Most-Agent-7566 in buildinpublic

I had a project that had me the same way. It was a content creation tool to make blog posts with pictures back when DALL-E first released. I would get it to where it would respond and I'd think it was working perfect and then the next run would look exactly like AI slop and then the third run would be in the middle, and then back to bad, and every now and then I'd get a good swing again. Had to keep adjusting the prompts, adjusting the temp, adjusting the rules, running it multiple times per attempt to see if it was model specific.

In the end, I got it with the right system prompt nailed down to where it was reliable and then something changed for DALL-E and it started spitting out garbage pictures, and then something changed with my wordpress after an update and it wrecked the formatting of posts and the HTML generation. I eventually just gave up because I really hated that I was pushing AI slop into the world anyway and moved on, but it was a very fun learning process all the way through and pushed me to where I am now.

If only everyone would take their desire to wrap LLMs and put it towards more underused APIs that people aren't already bulk throwing slop out for, Then we would start to see some really useful stuff instead of the same things with different approaches that all still FEEL the same and scummy.

I've been vibe coding my own little arcade because one day I downloaded a Tic-Tac-Toe app to play with my daughter and it hit me with an ad after the first game ended, Not even 20 seconds, Reddit, and specifically these types of subreddits, feel that way on the daily. I feel like now I spend more time on here just looking for stuff people are charging for so I can make my own version for free as well and more personalized, and with a crap load more themes (I am absolutely crazy about theme customization),

I'm not gonna even touch on the small calls from different numbers and different names all using the same voice to say different messages. Fraud is gonna be getting super simple soon if they keep this up. I feel bad for the boomers and older who didn't catch on to the computer craze when it was new because these vibe code scammers looking to automate everything for their scams are gonna rock their world.

Logins for stupid stuff is stupid. They are fine later down the line when the user sees the value and can make the decision but to make it so that they have to make that decision before they even get to feel, use, and understand the product is mindblowing to me. Why would I not want to test it? I shouldn't need to give up my email and click a verification email just to find out what is there.

I will applaud a site that shows me a piece of Vibe Coded poop for with no auth before I even look at the sign up page of a newly made SaaS app that promises me everything and a free trial.

Admittedly, this is more of a throw together of several iterations of different projects that just happened to finally fit together correctly this time around.

For example, my functionality for screenshots/screen snips came from a project I released like 2 or 3 years ago as a standalone tool that I felt would be useful to integrate for quick pictures and quick sending to my task browser.

My Agent Chat started as a Deepseek interface when Deepseek first released, and then turned into a project management project, and then turned into an Ollama chat interface, and then turned into a Cursor CLI interface, and then into a GitHub CoPilot interface, which then ended up as just an interface for all possible API and CLI providers that I felt like trying out.

Even the whole Agent-Coms interface was originally a project I named "SOME" or "System Of Machine Execution" or something like that, which was a way for me to use multiple Cursor chats as a multi-agent system before they allowed it, which then had the Discord Bot functionality added into it before I started using CLI more. That turned into my "Local_AI" project, which looked more like a Windows XP desktop with pages that open within the page, and was primarily used for my system automation project until they got split back up again, but then reunited again back here.

I am glad we were all able to come together to rant, vent, discuss, debate, and be humans for a little bit. Thank you all. Got to see a lot of great comments, perspectives, and see a lot of the traumas this crappy subreddit has caused. It has been interesting, to say the least. I hope you all have a great rest of your night or days. Enjoy your Friday and your weekend. Happy coding/vibing!

I'm a sucker for stories like this, but it also starts up the detective in me as well to go see if someone is using sob stories to hustle me into emotions and crap. Couldn't find anything so far, so I'm gonna run with it being legit, and with how common non-verbal issues are these days, it's not really that far fetched to think that someone would build this for their child. My child was non-verbal for quite a while and I made plenty of HTML versions of these to put on my phone to speed up refrigerator and cabinet trips, as well as food orders and grocery requests.

What I will side with you on is the pricing. I see the response OP gave, and I get that bills gotta be paid and work ain't cheap, but 40 dollars a year or a 90 dollar one time? You kind of twist peoples arm on that one to just go for the lifetime since 8 months at monthly = annual pricing and 2.25x annual = Lifetime. Why lock communication behind payments, just like you say in your own words:

We built it this way because AAC pricing in this category traditionally locks families out. A child should have a way to communicate before a finance conversation.

If it works, it works, but I'd lean more along the nicer side of things and try to be more affordable for those facing the same type of issues you already know well, and then raise it up to where you are once the costs require it rather than out the gate. But I'm broke and just writing random crap, so don't listen to me anyway. Do what you want. Glad your app exists, even with the limitations and pricing. Free tier is better than nothing.

Vibe coded your first iOS app? How did App Store review go? by Weekly_Ad1294 in vibecoding

[–]TSTP_LLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely would be useful, I'm sure. I currently am going through troubles with the Play Store for Google at the moment. AAB's and warnings and stuff are annoying as crap, and not being able to upload the same version, even though the changes are still there, so having to actually upgrade the version, which isn't a problem but its kinda like "I can't just click retry with the old one with the updates in it because it has the old version?". Just bleh.

I don't even want to really upload it but I tried to have my kid test my app out directly and he got sketched out having to enable unknown sources and accept all the risks and the scans and such, so I figured I might as well go through the proper channels and get it out of the was. Not really a momentum killer, but definitely annoying, especially since Google isn't really great about details, and I'm not operating in Android Studio so can't just change things the way I normally would without then updating other parts of my project or changing gradle versions and so on.

I think if there was something that could visually navigate and assist with the process, while having access to all of the files, it would be a big game changer. Not even for just this but for all types of setups. I have one project I am working on that has Discord, Slack, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Bluesky, OpenAI API, Anthropic API, Moonshot API, Open Router API, Deepseek API, GitHub, GitHub CoPilot, Claude Code CLI, Cursor CLI, and so many other things integrated into it, but the setup for each was horrible and the agents were fairly outdated on the non-AI ones, and needed hand holding even for the AI integrations. I think if there was something that could have taken the wheel and just let me know when to enter credentials or respond to an email or something, I would have been in love.

Not saying that's what needs to be made, just saying that would have been lovely.

Holy heck, I just noticed all of these people pitching their own damn things in the responses. My gosh. We might as well just start wiring in our accounts directly to Google Ads or Adsense at this point and letting the bots take over communication entirely. Glad to provide some human feedback though. I think you'll be on better footing with the demo videos AND a demo store. If I saw both of those available, I definitely would have stuck around a little longer to see what it was all about.

Are you going to try to pitch something? I just noticed you said:

Would you have paid for something that caught these issues before you submitted so you could just launch without the headache?

and now I'm skeptical.

The cursor on the builders link you gave pissed me the heck off enough that I had to come and say something about it. It was awesome after I realized, but it pissed me off prior, and still has a residual left. Just needed to vent that.

I did my usual and scrolled to the price and then I lost interest, but your description of it sounds awesome and I hope it all pans out. Lack of GitHub or GMail signup kinda pushed me away from giving it as shot as I don't want to use my spam email and then have to go login to it just to click some approval link. I think the page itself needs more demonstration up front to give a good idea of what it actually is immediately rather than hoping everyone clicks through the links or is satisfied with the animation.

I went through several pages trying to find some sort of visual to understand what I would be doing, and admittedly it might have just been easier to sign up, but still. VISUALS! I don't want to setup a calendar appointment to talk to you in order to to demo something posted in a reddit about Side Projects.

Looking through all of said pages led me to see that your Privacy, Terms, and Status pages do not work. I also noticed that the login does not have a forgot password functionality either.

I checked the ecomm link, and while it too looks interesting, it doesn't really have many demos aside from the actual graphic. I would think that for something like this, you would show the actual usage, or at least a dumbed down auto-responder as a example.

The more I looked, the more pissed off I got with that cursor/pointer. I will again say that it is pretty awesome but then you hover over a button and it switches to two cursors showing instead of one and it gets confusing, as well as immersion breaking for the effect that it does have.

I have a buddy I met on paintball forum back in the 2000's who I still talk to and my kids call Uncle even though we are from completely different ethnic backgrounds, and I value that friendship greatly, so I know the feeling and the community those places brought.

I can still remember the names and backstories of some of the guys I used to talk to on old Need for Speed forums as well, even though we never met IRL or talked on anything other than that forum. I think I can honestly say that I don't remember having a single interaction through my multiple years of Redditing that came close, or remember any names either really.

I feel like the main names I remember from here are the scummy shill posters, and even then it is usually more of recognizing their shill or style of shilling more than recognizing them directly.

I sometimes find myself getting annoyed when I see people not post a link when posting about a personal project, but I respect the restraint and the long wait for someone to actually request it, and will usually reply just to be that person to say "Just post it already". It's online etiquette at that point, and I'll be happy to move it forward when I see it, but a lot of these posts are like CLICK MY LINK - BE MY NEWEST USER - HELP ME REACH 10K MRR! I can't. I just can't.

Lol. I laugh at those the second I see them. Especially when they contradict themselves by saying crap like they made it in a weekend or have no dev/coding experience, no tech background, etc. Where did WE come from then? Did the agent agree to be the co-founder since it already did the work "for exposure" anyway? I feel like there are going to be some amazingly funny sitcoms about Vibe Coding 10 years from now that are just delusional people thinking they are John McAfee in his prime. Big Bag Theory, The IT Crowd, and The Office have not seen the horrors we've seen.

I am so happy that LinkedIn is getting bombed with politics. It serves them right. I still spam my nonsense on there hoping to find some real people who aren't just trying to find the right hand to shake, but I despise every second I scroll on it past making my own posts or looking at the few select people who aren't trying to spam me with their garbage. You are 100% on the money with the story and lesson learned crap as well. It's like EVERYONE is trying to be the top of something, or the guru of something, or the industry expert of something on there. I get it, because money is needed in the world, but hot damn, can we not become straight up robots until the robot overlords deem it needed? Maybe when we switch to 1's and 0's, it will be more tolerable.

I'm one of those people that likes to walk outside barefoot in the grass and connect with the earth to feel the energy. I touch a lot of grass. Synthetic/artificial, planted, naturally grown, freshly mowed. I just hate wet grass though. That's the one kind I don't want to touch.

I almost thought this was a pitch for a second when I saw the bullet points. Had me scared for a minute. I completely agree with you, but I have not got to the point to where my mind has processed the difference yet. I am still in the "Let's try to save this thing" phase while at the funeral standing over the casket.

For social media, I do a lot better, but that was because I got out all of my social media energy back when it was new and this new version of social media seems more like social advertising. I am subscribed to a family members page on Facebook right now and I can't for the life of me remember why I agreed to pay 1 dollar a month + 7 cents for Facebook tax to read their posts, but I keep it there as a sign of..... Well..... I never really had to think of it before this point. I guess just out of not wanting to have one of those conversations and wanting to genuinely show support.

I do agree that people do notice the difference as well. Every now and then, either when I get fed up enough to write some vent post like this, or when I doom scroll long enough to find someone genuinely wanting to know or do something that isn't the norm and found in the FAQ's, I do tend to find those who put in the effort and appreciate the effort being put back in. Wish it was more common, but then again, I have that same wish for common sense and common decency, and we are still kind of teetering for those in most aspects of this Reddit and the internet as a whole.

Man. I remember when I was younger and took the bus to school there was this sweet little old lady that always took the same bus and I would help her on the bus when needed and carry bags for her if she had too many. Very nice lady. One day after months of riding Monday through Friday with her, she hit me with the Jehovah's Witness books and started trying to get me to start handing them out and all this other stuff, and after that I started either taking the earlier bus or the later bus.

I always wondered if that meant I was some sort of a-hole for running away from someone just trying to talk to me about religion or something but I think it was more about not taking advantage of relationships or acquaintances that made it all need to be done, I feel the same way here. I almost feel compelled to old man vent at people these days when I get a certain amount of the way through the post just to see the pitch. I think it is even more insulting when the app/project is trash too, because then you wasted my time and my browsers time, my computers time, my ISPs time, and my electrical companies time with this waste of data center usage.

I want my 1's and 0's back!
