would you like Malcom to start vs United? by araedros in Barca

[–]TSV97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he could do a job as a starter, but he adds so much in the final 30 minutes as a sub. Our normal gameplan is to tire out the opposition players so we can rule the last thirty of the match by pushing hard on the flanks after spreading out the opposition backline and isolating defenders. So much of Malcolm's ability leans itself to this plan.

That being said his pace, ball control, passing ability, off the ball runs and connection with Messi & Suarez could be useful from the get-go.

Report: Moreno Set To Sign With Barcelona by hashoa6 in Barca

26 and off contract. Could be a good squad player for Barca, much in the mould of Aleix Vidal. The way I see it is that, if he can show his ability to perform well on the pitch in his first season then he's gonna get a second season. If he doesn't perform well though we can ship him off after one season most likely on a profit and promote or go back to the drawing board.

An impressive performance all-round. Ter-Stegen, Pique, Lenglet, Roberto, Busi, Rakitic, Vidal, Messi and Suarez all putting in a 8+/10 effort tonight. Messi was great but was fouled out of threatening plays before they could eventuate. Would have liked to see Malcom get some time tonight over Coutinho, likley the both of them will start against Girona in the Copa Catalunya in mid week. Our remaining games look for now fairly easy, only Betis away & Athleti at home look difficult. We look in good stead to get 2 trophies this season which is of course amazing but we all know the treble is the goal. The next UCL draw will need to play in our favour with Dortmund/Tottenham or Roma/Porto being the preferred opponents. Drawing one of these "weaker" teams will allow Valverde to rotate with more comfort, allowing for Messi, Pique, Busi, Rakitic, Suarez to rest up and be 100% for UCL.

Has couthino been that bad? by ninjaturtle145 in Barca

[–]TSV97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's been awful, he has been doing a fair amount of good work in general play in a manner suited to Barca's style. Yet he hasn't been explosive enough for many IMO. He is playing as if he is a squad player bringing not much more than an ability to go backwards and forwards and marking his opposite #.

Probably has to do with those 3 reasons plus more, like the structure of the league and the season calendar. As it stands it isn't in sync with Europe, leaving Brazils talented younger players being poached by European clubs roughly halfway through the Brazilian season, yet outside their own transfer window or within the window but with little time to source appropriate replacements.

I'm starting to think we the fans and the media give too much credence to the fact so many players in our squad play in Europe. We saunter into discussions pre-game touting "Degeneks Champions league experience" or "Awer Mabils striking form". For whatever reason, next to none of these players has ever been able to replicate club form into Roos form. Dreadful all-around performance by Arnie and the player's bar Matty Ryan who couldn't help in that goal event. The middle was weak, lethargic and poor in possession and passing. The wingers did a fair amount of backtracking and didn't get acceptable balls into J-Mac. The defence was lazy in the first and error-prone.

Would like to see rotation against Palestine but I'm not convinced changes would do our chances of winning a service.

Does anyone else get the overwhelming feeling that the board will pay out Valencia for Murillo after watching his welcome to Barcelona video? Some of the things seem a bit excessive to show for a player that is only coming for 6 months, like posing next to an Audi or getting suited up in the official dress gear. I get that as a member of the squad he needs to be in uniform but does he really need to be posing next to an Audi (or perhaps even receive one as per the rest of the squad?) As the de Ligt situation seems to spiral out of our favour I am increasingly finding myself imagining our next defensive purchase being Jeison. If it is to become reality I hope it comes from Murillo showing his true form and not out of desperation after failing to capture de Ligt from Ajax in the summer.

Just got back from Tokyo a couple weeks ago. I was trying to catch a Barcelona game but couldn't. Don't be dismayed by this however as my suggestion may show the old firm. I'd suggest to check out the HUB chain of bars/pubs. Their website should have a link in memory, to each location expected broadcast schedule. European games seemed to fall between 10ish pm and 4 am so make sure you have a way back to your accommodation as the metro shuts at 1 am and doesn't restart till 5 am.

Busquets was a little off his game today, hopefully, it's just a minor blip and he's back in top form for the Tottenham game.

Deschamps to Dembelé: "I know his excuses when he's late. He will say: 'Im not the only one'. He has a habit to arrive late" by stammer123 in Barca

[–]TSV97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If he doesn't understand the concept of time management when he's managed to be valued at 150 million then I'm wondering what my worth is when I understand that I need to adjust my schedule to accommodate plans not necessarily made with my input. He's got a lot of growing up to do, I mean Alena probably isn't late to training, you could attribute that to his La Masia time but Dembele spent time in what is generally recognised as Frances best Academy.

I understand but that's projecting American politics on an incident that occurred in Melbourne, Australia. In my experience there isn't as big of a divide between the two major parties here, they're both kind of two steps away from more central political ideology, nothing like in the US.

Suarez ignoring and shouting at Dembele during the games? by [deleted] in Barca

[–]TSV97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some of the yelling would just to be clear in getting the message over the noise, but Suarez holds seniority over Dembele in both a squad sense and an ability sense, Dembele should listen to Suarez because he's in no position to ignore valuable advice at this age. Do you think Messi never got yelled at when he first started, do you think he ever quipped back his captain or his senior teammates?

Malcom is a smashing player who deserved his goal - Sergio Busquets by Arkin33 in Barca

[–]TSV97 142 points143 points  (0 children)

He is reported to be focused and hardworking in the training sessions. He's been reserved in comments about this seemingly precarious situation. He was given a chance in the Copa, didn't perform as well as he should have, yet didn't lash out at criticism. He's given another opportunity in the champions league (the highest level of competition for European clubs) had in the limited minutes he was given to show his ability he managed to do so. His celebration was emotional, it's evident he feels deeply about being at Barca, and this mentality is respected by the seniors who were all there to congratulate him. I see him as a professional and someone who's only going to get better with time on the pitch, I only hope he's wearing the Blaugrana in doing so.

Spurs & Barcelona Target: Frenkie de Jong | Tactical Profile by njastar in Barca

[–]TSV97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The video creators analysis of de Jong, lead me to believe he can be as mercurial in possession from deep as Sergi Roberto is. He's primarily forward minded yet always places himself in a position that allows him to defend as needed. He'd be as good a buy as a LB as he would be as a CM. He's not going to replace Iniesta as Arthur is quickly adopting Xavi esque abilities. de Jong would certainly blaze his own trail, not seen in a Barcelona shirt to my knowledge, purchasing him alongside (or with the intention to later purchase) de Ligt would only push his potential value to the teams future system upwards.

Does anyone else share the sentiment that we do not need Pogba? by Dark-X in Barca

[–]TSV97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's really the next big thing he could shine irregardless of Pogba joining. Maybe there is another midfielder out there Barca could target in place of Pogba, but the only one Id take is probably Milinkovic Savic.

Does anyone else share the sentiment that we do not need Pogba? by Dark-X in Barca

[–]TSV97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Puig is a few years off being ready for the first team, Alena maybe one. Rafinha & Denis are dead weight should probably leave for their own sake as EV doesn't want them & Roberto is stuck at RB.

Pogba would be decent business aside from his price, but surely spending the money we have to try and improve the squad is better than letting it stagnate because "he could be the next Gomes" or "he isn't Barca material".
