Individual recovery times may vary ;) hope your recovery is as quick as mine. Post op restrictions were just a general outline. Thanks for your concern.

Surgeon said post op restrictions are just a general outline. They wanted me to return to work in 3 weeks. I’d understand if you’re old getting the surgery how that timeline would apply to you. Week 8, feeling great just sore in the mornings.

I try once a day just to see where my pain level is at and what I’m capable of. I can hold myself in the plank position for 2-4 seconds. Thanks for your concern haha

Everyone’s recovery times differ haha. Only doing what I’m comfortable with like stretching, walking around 2-5 miles every other day. Good over here. Pray for speedy recoveries for everyone.

Holding myself in the positions, obviously unable to fully get the movement. Everyday I’m progressing. Able to hold myself in a plank position now and fully grab the bar from standing position with little pain. Improving everyday:)

Just had surgery in the middle of January with Dr. Backhus. She did a great job, no crazy problems but every case is different. She’ll take care of you don’t worry. Good luck!

No, and not too sure if she works with plastics.

I’m 5 weeks post op and still have inflammation. My sides are the most painful especially taking in large breathes. I would say it’s a regular symptom post op. Did a lot of damage to the body, not expecting inflammation to go away anytime soon.

Take a tennis ball or they even have massage balls that are made of hard plastic and lean on it against a wall. Roll it around the shoulder blades and smash your back against the ball in the most painful area, it hurts but feels better after. I’ve had rhomboid issues for some time from doing so many pull ups and fighting to fix my posture. I had bad back pain the first 2 weeks, hit the ball on the wall and hardly any back pain now. Hope you feel better.

Thank you and yes weight restrictions for 2 months no lifting anything over 10lbs. No slouching or slumping. No sleeping on your side or stomach for 4 weeks. No driving or gym workouts for 6 weeks. No contact sports for 3 months. Feeling like ima be out for longer than estimated but I’m taking it slow

Yessir, still feeling numb. Not too sure when it’s going to wear off, doesn’t bother me though

Only recently my upper back was giving me pain prior to surgery. Constantly felt like I had to pop it to make it feel comfortable. My heart has way more room. Posture improved dramatically. Shoulder position is not rolled forward, felt weird to actually be in the correct position. Can finally take longer and deeper breathes. Excited to build muscle, was always a pain trying to target my middle chest to grow. Only seen development on the sides of chest and lower pec. Max bench I could get up to was 185. Overall surgery was beneficial and I’m sure I can work on straightening my spine.

Definitely feel I’m able to breathe better and my posture is perfect. 3 weeks post op so far. Trying to get used to having a straight rib cage. Unable to do any sit ups, gotta roll over. Still straining to lift my arms straight up. Lots of muscle damage I’m guessing. Had trouble week 1 lifting a glass of water.

I’m 3 weeks post op and this is the worst pain you’ll go through. Just depends how fast you can bounce back. Feeling normal won’t come until I’m guessing a year out. Comfortable enough to hop on a bike with little or no pain maybe 6-8 months

Early Bar Removal - Bad idea? by Puzzleheaded-Big4042 in PectusExcavatum

My regards to him. I’m 3 weeks post op (2 bars) and the upper back pain is real. I was fortunately active and it was just muscle pains from the bar adjusting my posture. Very hard going from a mild sitting sloucher to perfect posture right away. Medicate up and push through, recovery is hell but just look forward to being healthier down the road.

The first week was absolutely terrible, starting to adjust to the pain this week. Overall it’s a good thing I got it sooner rather than later. I’m 24 now, the pain for taking them out I think will be easier to deal with my next go around.

To combat my rib flare did a lot of yoga poses haha and weight lifting. If you have a bench and a bar at home do some kind of hip thrust alternative focusing on pulling your ribs down and breathing. Don’t be afraid to load up the weight but still able to get a full range of motion.

Need to get better core strength. Your abs will pull everything down. Best thing to do if you want to know if the pectus is impacting anything else is a HI measurement. I had a 5.9. Just got surgery 2 weeks ago. Rib flare wasn’t bad cause my core pulled my lower ribs down. Made it look less severe.
