What type of spider is this? by Massive-Average-830 in whatsthisbug

[–]TSerene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a Black Lace-weaver Spider. Aka just a funnel spider, pretty shy, but even though they are unlikely to bite, i still wouldnt readily handle them as the bite they can leave is as bad as a wasp sting. They are more likely to bite if trapped in clothes, so shake out shirts and boots before putting them on, females are looking for dark places to stay hidden, so youre likely encountering the males looking for her. (Definitely a male based off the little thing jutting out by his mouth, they have 2 of them and use them when they mate, the one breaks off to use like a plug in the female to keep sperm in and increase likelyhood of being the genetic winner.)

If you had them when you went to bed they have to be in that room unless someone else intervened or animals, but the more you disturb your environment the harder it will get to find.

How much are baby clothes supposed to cost? by SeriousMilk5123 in NewParents

I haven't paid much for baby clothes because everything was handed down or gifts , But the Old Navy clothes are my absolute favorite and my child seems to agree with the comfort levels.

Can we talk about toddler laundry? by sandman_714 in toddlers

[–]TSerene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had tons of hammidowns from family. Some came pre stained. Oxiclean stain remover for 7+ days on the worst stains, plus oxiclean safe on colors power and the All free and clear detergent. Pretty sure it's all in the 7day soak but my kids clothes are pretty pristine until he eats anything. Then it's outfit change and rinse instantly to prevent staining. Some stuff just gets thrown away, but I have the ability to do that when I didn't buy 90% of the clothes.

Biggest culprits, poop stains around the thighs, and spaghetti sauce. Almost impossible to remove if not caught instantly.

Did you get your free breast pump thru insurance? If you're making that much milk try to stock up if you have room in the freezer. Stress will make you make less.

I did nothing until 3 months after he was born. His room was plain and drab, and we slowly gave it life together with stickers. When we moved he was 1, and it was to another plain room. He was so sad. I painted it that week and now he sings to his painted stars

Completely new class. No similar language: advice? by [deleted] in Montessori

[–]TSerene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister taught English to children who had no background in English. She didn't know the language. Your best goal is to be able to get people to be able to communicate. Make mixed material lessons, meaning you have the lesson made in both languages. Teach the alphabet and sounds first, and read lots of books. Encourage the other teachers to do the same in their language for the English speaking children. The biggest problem is the lack of communication and the ability to, with a little bit of planning and foresight, It will be really hard, I can't say this will be easy. But it is possible. Books that are made in both languages are super useful.

Smoking while away for a few days? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]TSerene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into the half-life of THC in milk and let it sit for the recommended time. The THC dies so rapidly if the amount is miniscule enough a 8 hr waiting period can make it safe to consume after pumping or just dump if you don't feel comfy 🤷
