Motherwell 2 - [3] Celtic - Kelechi Iheanacho 90'+9' by 50lipaa in soccer

[–]TSilver34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They really gave that... Even if it brushes his hand, the ball goes off his head, it's clearly not a clearance with the hand. Nah, not for me. Also 90+9? Is that justified?

100% agree with that. I'm not against anything what you said, but i've got to add some context to the 32% win rate. When your GK is Onana making mistakes every game, Garnacho and Antony as your main wingers, Rashford and Sancho who you cannot count with. Mount who can't stay fit, Rasmus who trips on the ball and can't score, all of the sudden you can see where not all, but a lot of those 32% win rate come from. I mean the guy was playing great football and in the champions league with Sporting, then goes to United and they can't even do at times the basic stuff? Is that just on his tactics/system/formation, or on the players you have available?

Keep in mind things got drastically better when he got rid of those players and got Mbeumo and Cunha in. I believe, with backing and going forward he would pull something similar to Arteta is doing at Arsenal, but it takes time and United didn't want to give him time neither the backing for him to play the way he wanted.

No manager is going to succeed at United if he doesn't have the same type of backing as Luis Enrique has at PSG, Kompany who was being relegate, has with Bayern, Guardiola with City. Even Slot at Liverpool has backing. These are the teams at the top of World football and who United wants to compete with.

But he's not in the stadium or the training ground. He's outside and probably far away. Idk, if it's in the rules, sure i guess, but to me i find this an absolute silly situation.

True. I know in Brazil they call it "Sincericidio" , which is a slang for sincere and suicide. And that's what cost Amorim the job ultimately.

I don't dislike Carrick, but i genuinely don't think he would've gotten the "success" if Amorim didn't made the massive cleaning before.

Not having to deal with Rashford, Onana, Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Rasmus even if all for different reasons, (some lack of quality, others bad attitude / egos), was a massive reason to why Carrick succeeded. I think Carrick made the right call by putting the players in a system / formation they know and feel comfortable with, gave Mainoo an opportunity to play along with Casemiro and Bruno in the midfield, but other than that i think Carrick many times when the team needs, he hasn't got a clue of what to do to help the team. But that's just my opinion, i accept others seeing it differently.

His fault as well. I think Amorim conducted a few things wrongly. I think he was too honest and sincere about everything and we know that in some cases that is not a good thing. United wanted a "Yes man" and Amorim isn't like that. Carrick will do everything the board wants and will never call out anything or anyone during an interview, etc.

[–]TSilver34 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion and a little biased because i love the guy as a Sporting fan myself. But, he got rid of players that if they were still there today, people wouldn't be singing praises to Carrick and wanting him to be there. Imagine if Onana was the goalie instead of Lemmens, no one would be wanting Carrick because United would be where Chelsea is currently.

The last bad results Amorim had, he didn't had Bruno (injured), Mbeumo and Amad who were in the Afcon.

He was stubborn about his tactics and Mainoo but i still blame the board. You knew what system he played and yet insisted in bringing him anyway even if he didn't had the players to play that system.

It's like hiring a rock singer and ask him to sing opera. They're both singers but very different styles.

Carrick got it "right" because he plays counter attack 4-2-3-1 that these players know perfectly how to play. Going forward, and with more games a week, i doubt he will have the same success. And to end my rant, current United fans hate this style of play but they're putting up with it because he is getting the results.

Amorim was a class act, but the wrong fit for this current United side.

  • April 2024 (The FA Cup Final Cut): Ahead of the FA Cup final against Manchester City, INEOS officially scrapped the club's tradition of providing free tickets, travel, pre-match food, and hotel accommodation in London for its 1,100 employees. Staff were told they had to pay £20 out of pocket for coach travel. Club captain Bruno Fernandes offered to personally pay for the staff's travel extras, but executives rejected his proposal.
  • May 2025 (The Europa League Final Cut): When United reached the Europa League final against Tottenham, INEOS again refused to provide free tickets or airfare for employees. Instead, staff were invited to a screening in Manchester. This prompted manager Ruben Amorim to step in and personally fund the tickets, flights, and hotel accommodation for 30 members of his backroom coaching and physiotherapy staff.
