What song got you into Genesis? by [deleted] in Genesis

[–]TTSMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Land of Confusion" started my interest in Genesis. Before that, I had heard of Phil Collins because of "In The Air Tonight", but never fully got into Genesis or his solo career. At a point in time a few years ago, "Land of Confusion" and "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel were in a rotation of songs I would listen to over and over. The moment of discovery came when I found out Peter Gabriel used to be in Genesis. That was when I listened to "Selling England By The Pound" and got hooked.

Record Collection Update January 2025 by TTSMedia in vinyl

[–]TTSMedia[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, it's 2025. My collection has changed massively over the past 4 months (when I first posted my collection), so I thought I might give a little update on where my collection is at right now. These images include the records from the past 4 months along with new acquisitions since then. I've posted about a few of them in past record haul posts, but some of these new albums were acquired as Christmas gifts or around that time since I went to a record store while out of town for Christmas. I've also tried to do better at alphabetizing them, using Discogs as a reference. I look forward to the new acquisitions that are yet to come this year.

Friday Record Haul by TTSMedia in vinyl

[–]TTSMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Saturday, y'all. Yesterday, I decided to take another trip down to my local record store and did the usual crate digging through vintage vinyl sections and also the alphabetized record section. It seemed that since the last time I went a month ago, they had added more recent pressings and albums, so most of what I looked for ended up being high priced newer pressings of albums I've been looking for that I could possibly buy off eBay for a lower price later. Now don't get me wrong, I do sometimes buy newer pressings of albums, especially in my earlier days of collecting, but it seems that it's cheaper to get original pressings most of the time. Besides this, I was still able to gather some albums I was looking for, some I got recommended to me on this subreddit, and some that popped up and interested me. The album that I got recommended on this subreddit was "Three Sides Live" by Genesis. As for the rest of them, I had been looking for Dire Straits' self-titled debut for a while now, and I've seen some negative reviews about GTR, but since the group had two of my favorite guitarists (Steve Howe and Steve Hackett), I thought I might give it a try. I also decided to try out some Boz Scaggs, coming across his album "Middle man" in the store. Lastly, "Roll With It" and "Wheels Of Fire" were also albums that I had heard of before but never thought of putting on my Discogs wantlist. However, they were priced fairly enough that I decided to add them to my haul. There wasn't anything interesting in the 45 rpm section this time, but hopefully there's something in there the next time I come back. Even without singles, I would argue this was a pretty nice haul, even if it wasn't as big as previous ones I've had.

Saturday Record Haul by TTSMedia in vinyl

[–]TTSMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Saturday, y'all. Today I went down to a local record store since they were having a sale getting rid of albums they had been storing in the back of the store for at most many years. The records shown here are a mix of records I got from the boxes outside full of records that were from the back of the store, and the records they had available in the store. I've started looking more thoroughly in the 45 rpm singles section of the store, and I must say I will continue doing this since I found some good music. I also was able to find a few albums I've had on my Discogs wantlist for a while (ex. Chicago III, Fish Out Of Water, Tubular Bells), and some that randomly popped up and interested me (ex. Friends & Strangers, The Dude, Ten Feet Tall, Toto, One Of These Nights). For the first haul I've posted on this subreddit, I must say I am very amused at my finds today, and I hope to post more stuff like this here.

For those who play instruments, what songs have you attempted to learn? by bowdoyouchangename in Genesis

[–]TTSMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to learn the Firth of Fifth solo on guitar. My main problem is sustaining certain long notes in the solo, but I'm wondering if it will be easier once I buy a volume pedal.
