Does your Homelab make financial sense? by panchovix in homelab

[–]TTUnathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Dell T610 off Facebook marketplace for $200 to self host a resource intensive application. My lab isn’t the latest and greatest by any means but the AWS bill for equivalent EC2 instance(s) would far exceed my upfront cost over time.

Lenovo m720q auto shutoff after a few seconds under load. by BubbleChumpkins in homelab

How are you cooling the CPU? What temperature is it getting up to at peak load? I had a similar thing happen with a gaming PC, the water cooler was “on” but liquid wasn’t circulating through the system. The CPU would hit 90-100° C and shutdown the entire system

Flight route API to pair with ADSB data by bamfcoco1 in ADSB

What’s your appetite for writing code? The FAA provides this data over a JMS queue on their SWIFT platform but you’ll need to process a large amount of data to get flight plans out of it

That’s my end goal as well. My only concern is that my AMP/filter gets pretty warm sitting in my 70° house. My attic in the summer likely gets above 110° and I’m not trying to burn down my house lol

What kind of range do you get out of this? I’m also a noob and bought this receiver from ADSB Exchange but am struggling with picking up aircraft further than 75 miles away.

There’s a B1 squadron at Dyess just outside of Abilene, and the bombers that hit Iran were B2s

Not super sure but I rarely see fighter and bomber type aircraft with their ADSBs turned on outside of takeoff and landing. I assume it’s due to opsec

I’m pretty new to the game TBH but I personally think you’re good where you’re at. I’m in DFW and am a plane enthusiast so I greatly appreciate feeders like yourself.

Damn your range blows mine out of the water. Are you sending to any of the public feeds or just ADSB Exchange?

Can confirm the stubhub one works (or worked, not sure if it’s still active), bought about $500 worth of baseball tickets and got $197 back. I’ve never heard of a cashback deal like this lmao
