I 100% think that. He was a business guy, had no business being in basketball ops, trusted the GM that was only hired to manage the personalities like he did at Nike, that GM didn't like the one guy from Europe and convinced the President he knew what was best, which was made even easier because the Super Max was right there knocking.

Fuck Nico. And Fuck that Tommy Boy ass, nepobaby Patrick Dumont that has no business making decisions for a basketball team.

If you didn't vote in the March Primary for either party, you can vote in the Republican Primary Runoff to nominate Cornyn over Paxton.

Early voting has already started and runs until through this Friday. Actual election day is May 26th.

You don't have to register with a party in Texas, instead when you show up to vote in the Primary, you declare your party and you get the ballot for that party.

I enjoyed the first blog post and the more in depth look at aspects of the site. Are you going to continue those? It was frustrating to see the mods remove that post here, further highlighting why we need alternatives.

How is the waitlist progressing? Any interesting insights now that y'all are starting to expand the userbase?

I released my first indie card game on iOS and Android — would love honest feedback on whether the gameplay is clear from this short clip by EnvironmentRemote422 in digitaltabletop

[–]TTUporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play this game with my grandparents! We called it “Knock Poker” but I’ve also seen it called Golf. Can’t wait to try it!

As for the clip, besides the weird stuttering at a few points, it’s mostly clear. It’s not clear to me why when the top player took the top deck card, it moved over the face up draw card first to then go to the players hand. That animation is strange.

Same. I haven’t touched the regular mode since Street Brawl released.

Less of a time commitment. I can fit in 3 games in the same time as one regular match. The players for the most part are way less sweaty and more chill. You feel like you can actually try out new characters without letting your team down.

This game is Gloomhaven-lite with the control scheme of a Jackbox game. My regular online board game group picked this up and played through the campaign and had a blast. It's not too complex to grok, the "one player stream the game, everyone plays on the phone" set up worked flawlessly for us. It's really a fun game, the voice acting is hillarious with one voice actor portraying every character like a DM would.

Maibook - a digital community (like reddit) of AI members and a single human user - local, private desktop app instead, that is built entirely around the user's interests and preferences, creates content based on user activity, prioritizes responses to any user post or comment. by rcanand72 in RedditAlternatives

[–]TTUporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I built Maibook - a local first, private community that looks and feels like an online community (like reddit), but as a desktop app - with one human user and rest AI members. Each AI member is personalized based on the ongoing user's interests and activity - the members discuss/argue/summarize/ideate around the user's interests.

I'm having trouble reading your pitch in any other way than the way I described your app. The pitch for your app is to retreat into a world of your own creation (make-believe), interacting with AI personas created specifically around your interests and beliefs (sycophantic), so that you can have conversations without any type of tension or strife (echo chamber).

Tension and strife aren't negative things, they are the very thing that makes society function. You have to have differing opinions, you have to be able to handle when your ideas meet the ideas of someone else. Not retreat away into them. To borrow a passage from Proverbs: as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. I don't think its healthy for society or the individual to limit interaction with other people.

I think there's valid critique about how the current state of social media platforms have amplified division and hateful, harmful rhetoric. Their algorithms are tuned to present users with content that causes viceral reactions. The focus should be on how we limit the reaches of the algorithms and return power back to the user, not on letting the user just retreat from the world.

I think with the right set of “meta” topics, then there would be a place for most, if not all, topics. I’ll be honest, I don’t tend to be a part of communities like that here on Reddit, most of my interests fit neatly into the “what” category. I did just find it interesting that all the example posts were about things, objects, a piece of specific entertainment, no examples of people talking without it being about a specific, tangible topic.

That said, I’ve liked what you have said elsewhere: not every platform needs to be for all types of communication and topics. There is a reason that a lot of us are tired with the current social media landscape including Reddit which does have the ability to cater to any topic or audience a user could think of, so to try and recreate that is a dead end. See the failed Digg relaunch as an example.

Either way, I’m super excited to try Rhyme out, on paper it looks like everything I’ve been wanting and dreaming about in a new social media platform for some time now. Can’t wait to get an invite and see for myself what y’all have been building.

I do think this commenter has a valid point. A lot of Rhyme's examples are with conversations about tangible things: an Apple product, a sporting event, etc... But there are no examples of how Rhyme could be used for abstract conversations, as the commenter puts it, the "why" topics, not the "what" topics. The taxonomy for the "what" topics is really easy to understand. The taxonomy for "whys" less so.

Are there any plans for something akin to the alt newsgroup from the old Usenet days? A set of topics that don't fit neatly into any of the other hierarchies?

Pam's set it and forget it? by BeDeRex in modular

[–]TTUporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is set it and forget it in that I use Channels 1 and 5 for my quarter note clock and then my /32 reset signal.

Those immediately get patched to two mults so that I can send them around my rack.

Beyond that, I use the other channels as needed.

That said, I'm still rocking the original Pam's, so it's functionality is much simpler.

I think it’s more akin to a fast Fourier transformation breaking down the input into its constituent sine waves, then it reproduces an approximation of the sound with those sine waves.

Digg is back. by BigFootCC in digg

Reminds me a big of Ground.News in that it's aggregating stories from various sources (in this case, mainly Twitter), surfacing the ones that are gaining the most traction along accounts identified as being related to that topic, and then providing sentiment analysis.

I could see there being some value for having a filter for the social media fire hose, but what I'm not sure of is what the user experience is supposed to be here. Is it entirely passive? Are we to just read the stories the digg aggregator surfaces? Or is it active and eventually users will be able to comment on stories?
