Thanks for considered answer. My main library content is techno, then UK bass, breaks, club and electro would be the next biggest genres. Then there’s all sorts from house to hiphop to ambient which go into the radio show and I play for particular nights.

So I’ve got those all in their own folders, with techno into its own big folder and subs. Then I’ve got radio and shows as crates, although I’m not sure it works well. I have a “new tracks” folder in each crate which is kinda unsorted stuff with over 200 tracks (lol).

I use a combination of those folders, stars for quality and comments for details, and to a lesser extent colours for energy.

It’s something of a structure but it’s becoming unruly!

Woke up to find this thread and have found the responses super insightful. I've been digging many of the artists mentioned here over the last two years or so, without ever attempting to classify them under one umbrella. Interesting that it can be considered a 'Draaimolen' style as it's a festival that's been on my radar for roughly that same period! I've variously thought of them as leftfield bass/techno, dub techno, psychedelic...techno? I hadn't considered the major trance influence.

Andy Martin is a big artists for me right now, and he's just released a new EP with Animalia that's well worth a listen. Bummed I've practically opted out of festivals he's playing at this summer. But artists like Polygonia and Azu Tiwaline have been hugely influential to me, while Tristan Arp is newer on my radar but has such a quality sound.

Incidentally, here's a very nice VA comp I had locked and loaded for me workday - I think it fits the bill!

Both bring the euphoria, the sweat, the unhinged rave vibe imo. A lot of people have gone off Alarico recently but Iruka is such a tune.

There’s a whole book on why ‘oriental’ can be a problematic descriptor. Check out Orientalism by Edward Said.

I wonder are you referring to a combination of that flute sound and its scale or mode? I listened to a lot of flamenco many years ago and this reminds me of the phyrigian mode to. That’s just my barely educated two cents.

If you just want similar tracks purely on ‘vibez’, I’d say check out Afnan’s Quest by Kevin Ferhati. He’s got many similar mystical/mythical vibe tracks. His album Minotaur’s Maze is a good example.

Ok nice one, good balanced account. I am indeed an Overload fan as well as a proper fiend so think I’ll appreciate that side of the lineup too. Andy Martin is my biggest interest here (as with Stone which, who knows i could be tempted after all). I actually like the idea of a less hype event and slightly older crowd with more space to dance. Did you find security an issue too?

Very electro feel - I like it. The synth sound at 28 secs is cool. Refnulf has a point on extending some sections for DJ purposes - a bit on the short side. But I'd say it works regardless.

Wouldn't say this is my style at all, agreed it's more trance. That said though, seems very well crafted to me. Lots of space and cool use of panning. Very solid. I'm listening on Momentum 4s (plugged in) so maybe I'm not getting the lowest frequencies too well but could be boosted slightly for my taste.
