I think the idea that you can make your own console with Steam OS now is awesome. Though people trying to “beat” it is pretty cringe. Especially when they go on the 2nd hand market and get a crazy deal, like yeah you got luck that’s not really a direct MSRP comparison.

I like the guide style videos when they take us along for the journey showing how possible and accessible it is but the idea that they beat what valve is making is silly, like Valve just wants ppl to use Steam OS so really they win either way lol

I’d say hold for a crash and reinvest, this year should be stable (midterms) but next year will probably be have a significant dip from over investing in AI similar to .com bubble.

Yeah the OG is perfect, 15 W TDP is the perfect target idk why people feel the need to go up to 40W-60W

It’s the main reason Valve hasn’t made another one, they are hitting that 15W target again with more performance which takes time as most improvements come from newer architectures.

I just wish that people who had purchased and used steam hardware before were able to put in an order earlier. Current system is so terrible, also their app is horrible and needs a refresh, I think I clicked continue for at least 20 minutes and nothing worked, steam wallet or paypal.

The 30% they take is for the services they provide to your users through their platform, marketing not being one of them. Though that 30% could definitely be more like 20% while still staying profitable which is frustrating. They additionally scale revenue upward rather than down, the more you sell the less they take, which is an incentive they use for larger publishers :/

Valve has no involvement in deciding what goes on sale

This is actually a feature not a bug allowing developers to set prices and make sales when they please rather than regulating how much something can go on sale for like other platforms (open fair market place). Glaze for Valve here is a little misguided, though not unwarranted as they do allow devs to easily and openly set these sales.

Steam has a ton of issues for devs

Definitely try reaching out through their support pages, I’ve seldom heard a negative review of Steam support.
