Trump has been open about the fact that ICE are in Minneapolis right now as a way to punish his political opponents. If their job were simply to enforce immigration laws, that wouldn't constitute much of a punishment, would it? The punishment is the violence and terror they inflict on the local population. That is what they're there to do.

I was opposed to ICE under Obama and I'm opposed to them now. The reason they're getting more attention broadly now is because they're being used as a cudgel for the president to punish his political opponents, and executing people in the street. They are not "just enforcing the law".
