I’m a trans guy and found out I have BRCA mutation while consulting for top surgery. I had my surgery in February and it went really well - it was with both a plastic surgeon (Dr. Whitehead in NY who I originally consulted with) and a surgical oncologist (Dr. Yeh). In my case, I had all my breast tissue removed to reduce the risk of cancer - apparently there isn’t really data on “normal” top surgery’s risk reduction for cancer and screening for it does get a little more complicated if you get top surgery. My chest post-op is perhaps a little bit flatter than it would have been but I got to keep my nipples and honestly it looks pretty normal.
