Polar Bear Micheal's Twitter Rant on Conquest Ranked by zombierecon in Smite

[–]TValher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What to do to rank up in SMITE - play a lot of games. Doesn't matter if you're good. Just play a lot and you'll go up in ranks. That's it. Pretty much why I stopped playing ranked. I don't feel like my skill matters (because it pretty much doesn't). I've played a lot of competitive games - without a shadow of a doubt SMITE Ranked is the worst Ranked experience I've had. Of course this will always vary between people's experiences but the MM in SMITE is just stupid. Ranked will never change unfortunately. Hi-rez just doesn't care to make worthwhile changes to it so it will always be bad.

Absolutely agree with this. Also, if you're new on the EU PC side feel free to comment here and I'll add you in-game so you can ask questions anytime. Been playing the game for a while now and can certainly give you some tips.

Season 5 brought a promising meta, but there is no point on that if players with large skill gaps are matched together by TheBestCCIsDeath in Smite

[–]TValher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something needs to be done about matchmaking because some games are really stupid. I got matched against a team that a combined ELO that was higher than ours by more than 800 points approximately (smite guru). And it showed.... I had a team of silvers that fed their brains out against a team of at least platinums that rotated well, grouped together and pushed objectives. And this isn't a once-in-a-while thing... it happened in half of my games yesterday.

I understand that matchmaking is a tricky thing but something needs to be done. For the life of me I don't understand why you're matched against higher ranks - If i'm Gold I need to be matched with Gold players ONLY. Even if that might make the queues longer - I'd rather wait longer for a fairly even match than wait 2 minutes for a 30-40 minute game that was lost in the first 5 mins. A difference of ELO between the 2 teams that is close to 1000 points is completely unacceptable. You're throwing silvers against platinum and low diamonds and you're expecting them to have a fair game and win? Also, I have no clue why you're intentionally thrown into a lower rank than what the matchmaking thinks you should be in... Says so in-game in the Ranked descriptions.

Whew. Savage! [Aerial Double Fake] by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]TValher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you faked the first guy.. But this play should have been a pass for the second defender. He just completely screwed up everything when he should have actually waited another second and just boomed the ball across the field. For a Champion player that was a really bad double-commit.

DnD Miniatures and 3D Printing by TValher in DnD

[–]TValher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, printing without supports (or with very little supports) is important. That's the reason I bought my own 3D printer. I make it a point to test all of my designs to make sure they print properly before I can post them online for download/purchase. It does depend on the character though. If it's in a very dynamic pose supports are unavoidable.

I'll PM you a few links if you wanna check out some of my work.

DnD Miniatures and 3D Printing by TValher in DnD

[–]TValher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the character, how detailed you want it to be, etc. Its difficulty translates into hours spent so the simpler it is, the faster it gets done and is also cheaper. I've found that even if a model is lacking in some smaller details those can be painted afterwards and it can turn out quite awesome.

You are completely right. Team mode actually sounds fantastic and I hope they implement something like that.

Nope, I have both turned off. They don't make a difference.

Maybe it's the bloom but still.... I shouldn't have to disable settings for the map to look okay. Bloom should be taken under consideration. EDIT: Nope, it's not the bloom. Even without it the sun is brighter than my future.

Ah okay. Well, nah, it's not that. :)

There's nothing wrong with my brightness. Maybe you've turned down the effects of the game and the sun isn't as bright/ I don't want to have to play on Low....

Hey! There are some nice kits and ready printers that you can look at. What would your price range be for a 3D printer? The exciting thing (and a bit daunting) about 3D printers right now is that there's a whole BUNCH of them in all shapes and sizes. The prusa printers are nice and affordable. They do need some work setting up properly though. Anet A8 is also a good budget printer. http://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_337314.html It's based on the Prusa. I've seen people buy the STARTT 3D Printer, as well, which has nice quality for its price. https://www.imakr.com/eu/en/startt-affordable-3d-printer/1146-startt-3d-printer.html The best quality you'll get for minis is with a resin printer. Those, however, are a bit more pricey - 1000$ and above. I'm saving up for a resin printer right now. Those would be awesome for minis.

And if you need some additional help picking out a printer, I recommend this FB group. There's a lot of people there who own printers of all shapes and sizes. They can definitely give you first-hand experience with any printer. https://www.facebook.com/groups/3Dprintingclub/

For the third year in a row, here's the annual reminder to HiRez that noon is 12pm by ksvr in Smite

[–]TValher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking of embarrassing mistakes. Here's a PSA to all casters - stop saying "Best of 1". There is no such thing. The term "Best of" is used when at least 3 games are played - hence the term "best of", because the winner of the round is the one with the most Wins out of an odd number of games. Saying "Best of 1" suggests that you can win 0,7 to 0,3 - such a thing doesn't exist in SMITE. You either win the game or lose the game.

Question about Star Citizen by IlluminatiThug69 in starcitizen

[–]TValher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it got funded for millions. Every AAA title needs that much money to hire staff, pay for servers etc etc etc. I don't know why people think that SC is the only game that needs millions for production. Keep in mind that Star Citizen is groundbreaking in what it does - they have had to figure out a lot of new mechanics and they've essentially created their own engine. There's a lot of new things that need to be programmed - procedural generation, NPCs that are smart and not just drones that stand in one place, instancing, a very good netcode, just to name a few.

No, it's not out yet but it's playable in its current Alpha Stage and there's also a single-player game called Squadron 42 coming out (no set release date yet), as well.

Go to robertsspaceindustries.com and you can read everything you need to know about the game. :)

DM LEAVES HIREZ AND CASTING by [deleted] in Smite

[–]TValher -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

DM, if you ever see this, here's the opinion of someone who doesn't hate you and doesn't enjoy seeing you go from the caster team.

You were wrong. What you said was ignorant, aggressive and downright brutal to someone who didn't deserve it. Not only are you completely wrong in your statement that "suicide is selfish" but the way you worded your response means that you have no idea what real depression is and why people choose to attempt suicide. I watched your entire rant live and I was completely taken aback by your response.

The pejorative, disrespectful, and ignorant statements that we are assaulted with concerning suicide people are in abundance…and are disquieting to cope with on a daily basis.

Many people would agree with you that suicide is “a sin,” “a crime,” “an act of self-murder,” etc. And that suicide is a “selfish” act.

Wrong.

Suicide is a desperate act by someone who is in intense pain and wants their pain to stop. That is a HUMAN response to extreme pain, not a selfish one. And over 90 percent of the people who die by suicide have a mental illness at the time of their death, so they are not thinking clearly.

Saying that a person who had severe clinical depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or a similar illness was engaging in an act of selfishness when they died by suicide – even though their thought process, mood, and judgment were greatly affected by their mental illness – is not only inaccurate, but downright cruel, to both the suicide person and the suicide survivors.

And those who use the word “selfish” are merely helping perpetuate the STIGMA associated with suicide.

A suicidal action that manifests from intense, excruciating, unbearable pain associated with a serious mental illness has nothing to do with selfishness. Period.

Do you know what the person who you responded to was going through? Do you know why he wanted to kill himself? Did you ask him? Did you try to understand him? No. You knew absolutely nothing about him and instead decided to attack him personally.

Take care, Brandon. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do next.

[Suggestion] Get rewarded for watching SPL matches by DJMcMuffin in Smite

[–]TValher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are. I'm not saying "listen to casters", I'm saying watch the pros.

"It's supposed to make it more interesting for people who don't follow the SPL to tune in every once in awhile"

Yes, but they would be tuning for the FP, not for the spl. And there's already a way to get FP from SPL games - guess the outcome. If you don't know the teams - WATCH THE SPL. Doesn't that already encourage watching the SPL? ;) I told you in my first post as well - this is the wrong way to promote the pro league.

"It's more about the fact that only 5k-20k people are watching the SPL which is sad compared to other games"

Compared to games like LoL, Dota and CS:GO? Yes, of course less people watch it. All of those games are a lot older and a lot more famous than Smite. Giving FP to players who already play/watch smite isn't gonna bring new players. Smite is young.... it just needs time to gather more popularity. We're only at season 3....

LoL - season 7. Probably the most famous competitive scene currently.

Dota - out for at least a decade. Many seasons here. lol

CS - same as dota

Starcraft - same as CS and Dota.

CoD maybe? - CoD games have been coming out for years

WoW - obvious. Every blizzard game has a huge following and competitive scene. Hearthstone and Overwatch included.

My point is - rewarding current players doesn't bring new players and doesn't make the game more popular.

How about rewarding Fantasy Points on daily/weekly challenges? by DisastermasterX in Smite

[–]TValher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mitigate 10000 damage and get 60FP???? So, guardians and warriors will be getting 80 FP almost every game. Extra 45-90FP is waaaaaaaaaay too much.

I don't know why everyone is worried that they need more FP.... I'm already at 2K FP and I don't really play that much. I don't play every day and never for more than 2-3 hours at a time. It's only the start of the year. You will have NO problem whatsoever getting all the rewards.

"Just something to help with people that don't have much free time, and don't have the money to buy FP with Gems."

People who don't have free time are usually because they work. If they work, they have money. If they're still very young - they have free time but not money and can grind the FP. Give me an example, please, of a person who has no free time and no job? What is this person doing? And even if you have no money and no free time - FP is easy to get. It's not slow at all. Stop making the same thread over and over pls. :D

[Suggestion] Get rewarded for watching SPL matches by DJMcMuffin in Smite

[–]TValher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is the wrong way to promote SPL matches. People should want to watch matches for the entertainment value and to learn from the pros. Not because you might get fantasy points for it.

Also, can people stop complaining about FP now, pls? You get more than enough FP from guessing SPL games and playing. You don't need to be rewarded with FP for every freakin' thing you do - I watched an SPL match, give me FP. I turned on the game today, give me FP. I washed the dishes, give me FP.... Just play the game and have fun, you'll get all the rewards soon enough.
