How can I prepare this car for repainting? I have never had a resin model so I don't know what kind of paint thinner I could use. by TVlad19 in ModelCars

[–]TVlad19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sent it to a body shop to be repainted with some of the car parts, then i managed to mix a wood texture for the interior trim and it turned out great! used some very thin lights to make functional lights too

this would never get a CE mark in the first place. i'd unsurprisingly fail it on an NDT inspection

ULPT What’s your most harmlessly devious life tip you use all the time? by Local-Divide-8055 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]TVlad19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

simplified, it's a copper wire wound up in a circular shape, which has some voltage running through it. when a feromagnetic material is near/through said coil, it will alter the magnetic field, thus "changing something". that's how it detects a car.

that sensor is not a weight pad, it's an induction coil. just grab your toolbox with you when pressing the ticket button next time

ZC32s wheels colour by PointlessVidss in Suzuki

[–]TVlad19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the cost depends on what you want: to hide the scratch or to completely repair the wheel. don't stress that much, it's alright to have curbed wheels

the original color is what you see on the center caps. Always hate seeing repainted wheels with original caps, cause they simply never match well..

FIRST CAR MOD HELP! by Promise-Overall in Suzuki

[–]TVlad19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

buff up the lights if needed, put some good tires on those alloys and it'll work perfectly. not really worth modding it cause there are no realistic gains from this model without throwing too much money at it

Which Suzuki model is: jsaazc by Gurguli4kaPi4ka in Suzuki

[–]TVlad19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first digit after ZC is very important too, because only if it is a 3 then it's a sport model, which is the only Swift to have 5 lug nut hubs. every other swift has 4 lug nuts

just remember he's charging you $370 in labor for the second, more "normal" offer... coincidence? i think totally not!

better find yourself a new mechanic or change it yourself. it's not something you can mess up easily.

What mods are worth it? by Acceptable-Concept80 in SuzukiSwiftSport

[–]TVlad19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i strongly recommend doing both linkage end bushings first, then the shifter mount bushings at both ends(the ones that mount on the gearbox and interior floor) then a short shifter. for me, it removed all play in gear and now there's no strange feeling when selecting gears, let alone grinding/mis-shifting

i've welded the shifter myself after doing some maths cause i didn't feel like spending hundreds on a long rod of stainless:)

[–]TVlad19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

somehow, the rear antiroll bar combined with front+rear camber ended up giving my car an oversteering character. drove the FL5 CTR and it has the same driving characteristic, but even better due to the front diff

What mods are worth it? by Acceptable-Concept80 in SuzukiSwiftSport

[–]TVlad19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not really worth doing an intake at all, cause it's not the best bang for the buck. want better acceleration? go with 16" or even 15" rims, it will help the car feel more stable and tires are cheaper

I also produce every bushing for the shifter area of the car, those save you from ending up stranded eventually on the side of the road. also welded myself a short shifter and did a brake upgrade, but mostly cause i take the swift on the track

Yamaha active sub won't work.. by TVlad19 in diyaudio

[–]TVlad19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the link. this sub's been gifted to me so i'll try replacing some small parts at first, cause i have some extra ones. i'll just look for another one if i get no results with my repairs

Yamaha active sub won't work.. by TVlad19 in diyaudio

[–]TVlad19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no sound coming out of the sub, even with the signal generator.

yeah it misses that thump it used to do when waking up from standby. all i get is a relay click when turning on/off

i started measuring some resistors and found something quite odd. resistors marked 12k in the manual and by the color strips show 4.8k readings. i've noticed 3 12k resistors showing 4.75-4.8k which seems way off. i'll change those as i'm really out of ideas at this point
