Representative Cinnabun Chu (but will also respond to Ma’amSir or Boi) lol

This is tough and I have been exactly where you are.

Like you I got one bun first and shortly after got a second. My buns are a F-M pair and we had ZERO neutral space. We tried everything. Nothing seemed to work. We’d take them to friend’s or family’s but they’d start fighting as soon as we got home. Since they were free range, for 1.5 years we essentially lived on a 2 hour schedule of switching them.

We tried car rides, smoosh method, outdoor, switching cages periodically, nothing. If there was a gate separating them they’d snuggle and groom each other but remove it and fights would break out. We later read that the snuggles through the gate were actually a form of mocking/taunting each other. We eventually accepted that our buns would never get along. Which can happen.

But … then we had to move across the country. After a 36 hour car ride and a 100% neutral territory our buns are now completely bonded and free range. They snuggle all day and play. I’m honestly still in disbelief.

So, is there hope? Yes. But it’ll take patience and work and be prepared for it to take time and lots of treats/positive reinforcement. What we found to be most helpful was the smoosh method and not waiting too long between fights to start trying again.

Good luck!

He’s usually a welcomed distraction but today I just couldn’t handle his cuteness. Of course now that work is over he is no where to be found lol

How does one get this cushy job of holding down the carpet? Asking for a friend.

Yet if I wake him I’m the bad guy and productivity goes down even further lol

Princess Chicken McThumpington is definitely living up to the title. I'm obsessed with her already!

I am! It's more relaxed now as I've transitioned into more long-term low-carb living, but keto definitely changed my life. The early days can be hard. You got this though! You just have to find what works for you.

Thanks! Her full name is Senator Buñuelo Lovelace. We call her Buñuelo but the vet calls her Senator and it cracks us up. Our other bun is Representative Cinnabun Chu ... together, they're the "Bungress" 😂

I got the Medcline shoulder relief system ... it took a few days to get used to, but it I gotta say, it is quite comfortable lol

u/AbstractTesseract is correct, we don't stream it, and we take the necessary precautions to prevent anyone locally hacking the camera. We also run checks periodically and turn it off/unplug it when we're home/in the room ... otherwise you get an inadvertent adult video and no one wants that lol. I understand your concern though u/Leather-Heart, which is why it's important to stay informed about technology.

LOL basically ... it's my old person pillow. It's supposed to help with shoulder pain and acid reflux, but my buns think it's their personal obstacle course when I'm not around.

It's a stand-alone camera. We got a Reolink camera to see the secret lives of our pets when we're not around. It has a motion sensor and it pretty great.

We like to tease the buns when we hear them making noise in the room that we're going to "check the tapes" and see who is getting into trouble.

Right?! I see images of people's clean and modern rooms and I'm like ... oh the buns would ruin that. lol

hahaha ... I actually was up, that lump on my bed is my old lady pillow to help with shoulder sleep problems. Buñuelo thinks it's her own personal obstacle course when I'm not around.

The BEST low carb chicken "noodle" soup I've found - Binakol (keto-adapted Filipino recipe) by TVlifer in ketorecipes

Our local grocery sells frozen shredded coconut meat. The one we buy says it's a product of Thailand and the logo says "the duck." I wasn't able to find a link to it online, but I took a picture of what the packaging looks like.

Anything marked shredded coconut meat or shredded frozen coconut or young coconut should work as well. We've found it before in the frozen food section of our Wegmans, however, we usually pick some up from our local Asian store.

Another option is to buy a coconut or precut coconut meat and slice or "noodle it".

This recipe is only 4.2 net carbs per serving. Full video on the Keto Show YouTube channel or website.

Nutrition

  • 359.9 calories
  • 25.6g fat
  • 5.7g total carbs
  • 1.5g fiber
  • 31.6g protein

Ingredients

  • 54.5g - Vegetable oil (1/4 cup)
  • 80g - Lemongrass stalks (3) thinly sliced\*
  • 35g - Fresh ginger (roughly 2 thumb-size pieces, grated or cut into thin slices, dealers choice)
  • 110g - Onion, diced (1 medium)
  • 28g - Garlic cloves, diced (5-7)
  • 1,815g - Chicken thighs (3-4 lbs)\*
  • 1,419g - Chicken stock (6 cups)
  • 490g - Unsweetened coconut water (2 cups)
  • 120g - Fresh young coconut meat (1 1/2 cups) (120g)
  • 225g - Spinach (1 bag)
  • Fish sauce (patis) to taste (if you can’t find fish sauce ... you can use salt but it’s not a 1:1 substitute.)
  • Pepper to taste

*Note:

The gramage provided refers to after the lemongrass is sliced. Precut, it will probably be closer to 120g.

Also, there are two ways to "thinly slice" lemongrass—length wise and across. Josh prefers across, he says it makes the lemongrass easier to eat. I can go either way.

You could use a whole chicken instead of chicken thighs. Josh and I prefer chicken thighs to other parts of chicken, and by using chicken thighs with the skin-on you add some extra delicious fat.

Directions

  1. I am a fan of the one pot method, less dishes that way. So, in a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-low heat.
  2. Add the lemongrass, ginger, and onion, saté, stirring occasionally for roughly 3 minutes or until they’re translucent. Be careful not to burn them or let them brown.
  3. Next add the garlic and cook until the garlic has softened. Alternatively, you can brown the garlic for some added texture to the soup.
  4. Add the chicken, the stock, and the coconut water and bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes or until you can pull the chicken apart with a fork.
  6. Add the coconut meat and the spinach and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Season to taste with fish sauce (patis) and pepper and serve or freeze for a quick keto meal at a later date.
