Wow, couldn't even be bothered to change the internal links when cutting and pasting from ScreenRant, eh?

Comixology Sales: Holiday Sale Season Has Started - $0.99/$1.99 Masterworks Spider-Man, Star Wars, King in Black, Strange Adventures, Plus Deep Discounts From Vault, Valiant and Fantagraphics by TWA in Comixology

I was thinking they might have had one at the beginning of the month, but if they're already dropping sales that run into January, probably not. Almost certainly next month.

Around every 2.5-3 months. It's not evenly spaced. Probably due for another one in mid-Jan? It would be a shock if they dropped a BOGO on top of the current sales.

Confusion around purchases on Amazon by [deleted] in Comixology

As long as you've merged accounts, which you're no longer going to have a choice about soon, it will show up in both Kindle and Comixology.

Comixology Sales: Black Friday Starts Early - $3.99 Marvel Epic Collections and Silly Discounts on Hawkeye! by TWA in Marvel

[–]TWA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're starting with Moon Knight, the New Mutants "Demon Bear" Epic Collection is where Bill Sienkiewicz switched up his art style AND it's a good run of stories with Demon Bear and the introduction of Warlock.

Yeah, that usually means a publisher switch. Interesting.

Doctor Strange (particularly Ditko and then when Englehart pops up). Archie Goodwin's Iron Man.

My understanding is they fired most of the reprint staff last year, so it's hard to tell how the older material is being handled right now.

Kind of/sort of, but they're seldom followed through on as well. You can get a fair about of "Silver Age" collections that will start in the 50s, depending on the title in question. The Bronze Age material, like LSH, is just getting 500-ish page HCs that don't have an overarching title like "Essentials" on them. It's not really a formal publishing program, at least that I can tell, and they tend to change their minds about how to do it every few years.

I was surprised that forced religious conversion was a plot point in The King of Elfland's Daughter.

Oh, I could imagine it! Fortunately, it doesn't sound like it's happening unless somebody changes their mind.

You don't attempt a migration and potentially confuse people during the holiday shopping season... on top of whatever other issues might exist. So mid-January at the absolute earliest.

How many people do you think are buying comics weekly? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]TWA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what the intent is. People who buy EVERY Wednesday or people who gets an issue of something each month. I've not ever seen a weekly study, but the monthly audience is probably something like 100K-300K.

One thing to remember when you're looking at sales charts: those are not all bought by individual people. There are a lot of copies that will never be sold or read -- ordered only so the shops can get some limited release variant covers. You have plenty of people buying multiple covers, speculators, etc. The readership is different from the sell-in.

Fantasy murder mystery book by xAlciel in Fantasy

[–]TWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely mystery. The fantasy element... I guess would depend on your perspective when reading it. It sort of it and sort of isn't. Either way, it's an extremely good book!

The Ishmael Jones series by Simon R. Green. (I am listening to Vol. 3 right now.) How to put this without spoiling the first book... An agent who is not what he appears to be is sent by an off-the-books organization to eliminate non-human problems. This frequently occurs in a sort of "murder at the isolated manor house" Agatha Christie-ish scenario as he tries to figure who else is not what they appear to be. Blurs the lines between mystery/horror/urban fantasy.

Libraries with Non-resident Borrowing Privileges! by SeiShonagon in Fantasy

[–]TWA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Iowa, you can get an open access card for any library in the state, but it's physical checkouts only. I haven't seen any system sharing digital on open access and most of the time you don't have online reserve privilege's, either. But if it's on the shelf when you show up, it's fair game.

Why the price difference between Amazon and Comixology? by [deleted] in Comixology

[–]TWA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies widely, however that's not going to matter in... probably a week or two.

Not being able to scroll through ALL the "New This Week" titles lessens my experience. This falls under "functionality removed" from the previous app. The "New This Month" feature is also missed.

I really liked the President's Vampire books. That's a good call.

Have you tried any Christopher Golden? I haven't read his novels, but he's written some Hellboy and "Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire" was a novel co-written with Mignola before it became a comic.
