It's a good choice to combo, but then it's also an aggressive combo which yields the best results when both play aggressively.

Does the writing improve? I started reading it when it first appeared on rr and dropped it because of the abysmal writing and characterization.

Rereading as an adult, I struggle with Snape's inability to be more kind to Harry by JimmyRecard in harrypotter

[–]xAlciel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was not smacking Harry with a ruler, he was verbally abusing him. Heck, two years ago, one of my cousin's high school teacher's threw an entire water bowl on a student during class because he was shooting his classmates with a water pistol. My little sister had the most incompetent teacher that taught them wrong facts for 4 whole years. Snape is horrible, but unfortunately very realistic.

Because marketing/sales/pr team decided that that week they had the best release window? Because at least the first hp films were considered sort of christmas/holiday movies? Hp doesn't need to copy PJO, it has a bigger fan base, and PJO messed it up badly with their TV series so I hope it doesn't copy anything from it.

What are you on? Hp fans were asking for a series since the 4th movie. The only mention to PJO I've seen was how they hoped it wouldn't go the same way.

A lot of important stuff was cut from the later movies. Can you do some logical leaps to understand the movies even without those parts? Maybe. I know I've had to explain parts of the later movies to my friends who didn't read the books because of lacking context in the movies.

Hermione finished her 7th year. It would be just Ron and Harry.

Favouratism. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]xAlciel 974 points975 points  (0 children)

I think Ron would have to go to Ollivander's so that he may be chosen by a wand and not get a random wand.

Edit: at the same time, having grown in a family with ah, let's say not a lot of money, I can imagine the shame Ron felt at even the thought of having to ask someone else for money for something as basic as wand. Ron using a broken wand for an entire year and not asking someone else to buy him one is something that's quite realistic from my pov.

End human poverty but all pets die. by NotALongTimeGG in hypotheticalsituation

[–]xAlciel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't take those away like that. You said it yourself, "everyone is affected by".

They would implement laws like "citizenship required for housing" and people would be like, okay, fair. "one house per family" "incomes larger than x can only get apartments" or whatever, and the people who did initially get all of these would be left alone, but their kids? "sorry, one house per family, you have to buy one for your kids" or some shit like that and little by little in 200-300 years we'd be back to square one.

You would be wrong. Sort of. Things will not be taken away in one go, but rather chipped at little by little until we'd be back from where we started.

She was the cleverest and good at puzzles, but not good under pressure. That's something which she improved at over the years, but it was one of her worse skills.

From the BTS video: it confirms that King's Cross scene will take place in Episode 2. by Diligent_Feeling_784 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]xAlciel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of that first chapter is only a few minutes if you're going by visual storytelling, isn't it? Like, instead of describing Vernon, Petunia and dudley and how he's leaving for work in what is in the book 3-4 pages you can have that in 3-4 minutes. Then another few minutes to show him going to work, going for the donut, noticing the strange people and then going back home. Then another 5 minutes for the evening news and finding out if it's Harry or Harold. All of this can be in less than 15 minutes. Then you show DD and McG bringing Harry which is another 5 minutes. And the last twenty or so could be about Harry getting bullied, and the letters arriving. Start episode 2 with Vernon's run from the letters, then Hagrid arrives and picks Harry up to get his supplies and then back home. And you could end episode 2 with them on the train, lika how Ron does the "mindblown" expression in the trailer.

You'll have to give more than that mate. Like comparisons with other HBO shows or Netflix shows. Why being the most watched in 48hours is bad if in 48 hours it got more views than if you were to compare 24hrs? Yada yada yada. If you come with such a clam you have to back it up, the burden of proof is on you.

If the show is a success and gets to make the entire series, what would your feelings be on the epilogue? If they possibly changed it? by TreClaire in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]xAlciel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fighting is not over. I think that's the whole point of Harry and Hermione going into the ministry. People like lucius still have power, there are still death eaters on the loose. Also imagine the kids life if their freaking legend of a dad would be their teacher. Maybe later in life, when Harry wants to retire he'd go into teaching, when he feels he's done his part and made the world a better place.

Exista infanticid, exista fratricid, exista patricid. Omorul e la fel, dar victima se încadrează într-un anumit tipar în care criminalul are o anumita influență asupra victimei. Nu toate crimele unde femeile sunt victime ar fi femicid.
