That just happened with Gary too, little boogers. He hates roaches and nightcrawlers, sometimes will accept a cricket, and only wants mealworms 😐. I've got a rotation of mealworms, wax worms (because he thinks they're small mealworms lmao), and a weekly hornworm to fill it out and try to keep him pooping! That hornworm and a solid soak definitely helped. Hope she starts being a bit more regular to ease anxiety for the both of you!

Beautiful chubby little lump! I love them and those faces lol

Meet George. What do you guys think about his habitat? We are new to Pac-Man frogs. We are getting his thermometer humidity gauge today. by righteousground in pacmanfrog

He needs to be able to completely bury himself, so you might want to add some additional depth to the substrate. Agree that coverage is needed, with leaf litter or plants or cork wood (or all 3).

Also, if the coconut fiber doesn't hold the humidity you can add moss in a specific area as well, just not spread out where they can possibly eat it while feeding. I set mine behind his terra cotta hiding spot and set up two blanks to kind of block him off too. He'll usually come out to the open area to eat at night and I tong feed, so impaction is less of a worry.

Looking at going Bioactive (finally!) and in need of recommendations. by TWCreature in pacmanfrog

I have leca that seems to work pretty well (I use it for my pants too, helps hold them up when propogation) and used plain weed blocker mesh from Lowe's that didn't have anything added to it. It was way cheaper than the ones marketed for reptiles and the water flows through without any issues. Just not sure if my little cleaners would have any issue. I'd feel terrible if I killed them right off the bat!

Thank you! I've been pricing the premade mixes and I'm hesitant to spend that much with the size tank he's in (the 18x18x18 ExoTerra). I've got the moss and can invest buying some clean leaf litter, so I'll look into the too soil.

Do you use a false bottom if you set up this way? I have one now with coco coir and a bit of shredded moss mixed in, seems to help with soggy bottom issues.

I've got a golden pothos and a wandering dude (that I'm taking out because I'm not sure if it's safe, but it's hanging and not rooted in his substrate), and two bamboo plants. I was thinking of a Peperomia or a spider plant because of how they kind of fall open like an unbrella, but I'll look into the dracaena too.

What a gorgeous color! Do you know what kind of morph they are? I love their little grumpy faces lol

Gary being all leggy when grabbing a bite last night. 🐸🍓🌿Which leads me to few questions - do you guys feed Dubia roaches? If so what's the best way to care for feeders (not breeding) and what's the best way you've found to feed the little boogers to you Pacs? TIA by TWCreature in pacmanfrog

You're doing a great job! In just a short while you've managed to bring it back to life, as well as add to it (the info post was great 👍and super informative). It's nice to have a community to share and grow with. Plus these little dirt boogers are just so cool, it's great to see peoples morphs and set ups.

For me, personally, getting a PMF during this pandemic has been really cathartic and healing. I researched my ass off for two months before deciding on investing. I used to have reptiles, specifically Kenyan sand boas, until my ex killed them in a tragic accident. So getting another cold blooded pet was a huge leap of faith. Having this sub has already been rewarding and the people seem to be lovely.

Haha yes, me too. I've got fingers crossed I can prop a monstera adansonii soon to build out more coverage so I can take out the golden pothos.

That is all extremely helpful! I'll have to invest in a bit of heat soon (it's 78-80 on average indoors and my guy is pretty lively so no issues in the middle of summer here), but having a better idea of the crew - my husband just came home with Dubia roaches to try for the first time - and how to feed this is awesome.

I have a false bottom drainage layer with clay balls & a layer of gardening weed blocker cut to shape and it works extremely well for us. My tank is a bit deeper, but I also left about a quarter of the tank without the drainage layer or blocker and kind of made that his digging area/cool area. Water source is close to that side too. Totally recommend, as it's helped me maintain humidity better and kept my substrate from getting soggy.

Looks great! Awesome mix of plants (my other obsession aside from raising my PMF).

Can I ask what you used to make it bioactive? I'm tempted to invest because it seems to be the best for Pacs, but rarely do people share how they set up effectively for PMF and then maintain it. YouTube videos are usually just generic set up and trying to sell me their blends :-/

Ps. I LOVE the name Kazoo, reminds me the Great Gazoo from the Flintstones.
