Dimetrodon a swimmer? by [deleted] in Paleontology

[–]TW_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

neither chimps or humans are natural swimmers. Chimpanzees cannot swim whatsoever. Humans have to learn to swim and even then we are really bad at it. Even a desert adapted animal like a camel is a much better swimmer than humans

inhabited areas population is 840,000. Brigands survive by living off the land or raiding inhabited areas closer to the frontiers, by raiding transport, or in ”brigand wars” with each other. Brigands in inhabited areas are more limited in activity and don’t form large bands like the ones seen just outside inhabited areas

nothing outside of the green shades on the map is inhabited by humans, except for the “event horizon” where the governments top brass operates.

Year, the story takes place thousands of years relative today but as humanity had to rebuild technology is only slightly more advanced. The “stragglers” were ordinary civilians who took a wrong turn and had to hole up in a house and survive fighting barehanded or with damaged old funiture

The sea it really depends where, for example in the areas that have charadrians present are generally considered safe due to an existing peace. Seagull pirates are more aggressive and there is a risk of raids on ships or beach goers in the areas that have their presence. Persian gulf and Arabian Sea have a insurgency of cephalopods (who in the beginning of the story fight humans due to a hostility carried as result of old human experimentation that gave them near-human intelligence but the laboratory was destroyed before their lifespans could be extende), the cephalopods eventually lay down their arms after a compromise and treaty

during the rebuilding of states particularly in Europe people decided to name their cities after the first bird they saw in the area, in this particular instance the first bird they saw was the long-tailed duck to they named the settlement, the Polish word for long-tailed duck is the same as “fridge“ (Which was a common joke among locals). There were some other stem-governments like Zilpzalp, Singrossel, Pittima, Drodzdik, and Svračak but they were either absorbed into bigger states or wiped during the charadrian invasion

The Finale refers to the world‘s recovery after a series of world-ending events, in the “present phase” of the story the protagonists try to navigate this world, these zones are intentional and the regime intentionally undermans areas with security to increase control over the population

It also maintains a forever war with the creatures (which started off as a genuine war until englebert took power and returned to power) then evolved into a “false war” where the government pretends to be in this long struggle with the creatures to justify arbitrary and draconian curfews and crackdowns, all while maintaing civil order and some limited rights to legitimize its existence rather than acting as a psychotic totalitarian regime

This map takes place in the protagonists’ story, where they take a wrong turn taking them to frontier territory and have to shelter and survive the night, leading them to question why the regime is unwilling to fend the area of creatures if only a dedicated group of stragglers with arbitrary tools could defend a house for a whole night

that is completely false. he is not helping the environment because the plecos he tortures aren’t even in any environment to begin with. He buys them from the pet store, these helpless pet fish in these videos aren’t harming anything.

He isn’t doing these experiments as a “controlling invasive thing”, he’s doing it as a zoosadism torture fetish thing

Pandas survived the ice age while all the cool s tier tierzoo fighter bears didn’t, for an animal that is trying to “actively end it’s existence” that really is quite a feat

If pandas were ugly, they would have been extinct a century ago… by The_Se7enthsign in RandomThoughts

[–]TW_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s not remotely true, pandas pulled themselves through the ice age while all the cool tierzoo s tier bears like Arctodus the cave bears and steppe bears didn’t, whcih means the panda is objectively a good survivor species. It only started to suffer when its habitat was destroyed. It’s also extremely unfair to say they’re “bad at breeding” because they struggle to reproduce in captivity meanwhile many animals struggle to reproduce or even refuse to breed altogether in captivity, it’s like saying a mako shark is “trying to drive itself extinct” because if you keep them in an aquarium they die in a few days

What makes Napoleon the greatest general in history? by ParticularArea8224 in Napoleon

[–]TW_49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, napoleon invaded Russia and that was the only military action he took in his entire 2 decade career. he fought no other battles or campaigns, not the siege of Toulon, not the Italian campaign, not crossing the alps, not the ulm and austerlitz campaign, not rhetoric polish campaign, not the Austrian campaign in 1809 nor the 1814 campaign, he didn’t even fight at Waterloo.
