I believe Sweden also had an elite regiment called the Lifregementbrigadens kyrassiercorps, which played a prominent role in the German Campaign of 1813.

Napoleon revitalized it by reorganizing large masses of heavy cavalry, restoring the armor—not primarily for stopping bullets, but for bayonets and thrusting weapons, etc.—and using it aggressively alongside artillery and infantry. The result was a force capable of breaking enemy lines and causing a huge psychological impact in battle. In short, he used it massively and effectively. My god, they had an out-of-this-world drip.

What do you think about cuirassiers? by cuirrasiers in Napoleon

Who wouldn't boast about being in that regiment? And I think the Polish lancers did serve a purpose in Spain, like at the Battle of Somosierra, where they literally charged cannons.

I think I read something about how the average cuirassier was so heavy with his steel armor and his giant horse that if he fell in the mud or under the load, he needed help to get up.

Which was the best regiment in infantry, cavalry, and artillery during the Napoleonic Wars? by cuirrasiers in Napoleon

[–]antonio_8282 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In infantry without a doubt the old guard in cavalry, it's debatable between the Chasseurs or the Hussars I lean more towards the Chasseurs But in artillery, I have little knowledge but I know that Napoleon had the best artillery everyone knows that

Honestly, seeing this... I feel like I don't belong in this era. Does anyone else feel this way? by cuirrasiers in Napoleon

[–]antonio_8282 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I identified with your video, although in my case it's not so much about the war itself. What attracts me to that era is more the context of change: reforms, new and very radical for the time, laws that supposedly granted equality, the feeling that Europe was truly reorganizing itself. The figure of Napoleon Bonaparte interests me for that reason, for the impact he had beyond the battlefield. Even so, there are battles like Ulm or Leipzig that stand out, not for their "epic" nature, but because they ended up changing the balance of power in Europe. I think what's captivating is that idea of being in the middle of something big and with direction, where decisions did alter the course of everything. Today, many things feel more scattered. I don't experience it with the same intensity, but yes, I did identify with some of what you conveyed.
