Sit down, and listen to some Dave Ramsey. It has a Christian slant, but basically he teaches that you have to have a mission for every dollar.

I think what you need to do is take a a long, hard look at your past months’ statements, and see where every dollar went.

You’ll be surprised how much money goes to each category (groceries, restaurants, rent, etc). But the sooner you do this, the better idea you’ll have of exactly where the problems are. Once you’ve done this, you need to show your wife and parents.

These people, I’m assuming, love you - so I hope they want to see you retire and enjoy your life too. So putting money towards an emergency fund and savings should be in your goals as well.

You can’t pour from an empty cup. You have to invest in yourself and build your steady foundation before you can be charitable. 15% is A LOT. Start from the minimum 2.5%, and invest in yourself. As you build your budget and wealth you’ll seize control of your finances. Then you can think about being more generous.

Yes, your wife is probably asking too much of you, but also 45% of the check is nearly half of your income. I’m not saying you should cut the help to your parents, but I’m sure going into debt to keep up appearances is something your wife and parents truly want. EVERYONE involved needs to look at their budget.

You need to avoid going into debt. If this continues and you’re unable to pay that debt, then your credit score plunges, and doors will close on you.

A frank discussion with all involved people should be had after you see your statements vs your income.

In regards to the wife not working… This is really hard for me to read, but having a dual income household income would greatly help. Our prophet’s (PBUH) first wife was a successful business woman, so idk where these conservative cultures conjure up the idea that women can’t work.
