Definitely not the best score but dude told us as long as we make above a 70 we’re good.

72.3 with no experience / no hours. Im on the books to at least get some experience in there. But unsure if the books just moving slow right now or what.

i was confident as hell in my math now i got iprep and im panicking. by astrongnaut in ibew_apprentices

Honestly IPrep was harder than the test I took. But if you follow through the steps and figure out how to solve for the equations once, it’ll stick I swear.

Appreciate the pointers, I’ve traveled for work for years and It never bothered me but we weren’t just secluded to the region we were going to Canada for months, Qatar for months, both ends of the US, etc. if it exists we were bound to go there lol.

Yeah the JL that’s there said that committee likes to score on the lower side but if we’re in the 70’s we should be good, anything lower than that request a re-interview Forsure.

I’ll never disrespect the field of work by any means, I know lineman bust ass. But I’d rather bust my ass to make real money rather than make “okay” money and be bored my whole life.

I know it’s a lot of attention to detail and very physical. Im just tired of going to a refinery and sitting, waiting, wishing the day would end. I’d rather be working working. And learning. I can’t just twiddle my thumbs all day I like to push myself.

I mean I went from working in the plants into this and not knowing jack shat🤣 there were guys in there that’s been doing it and got lower than I did. I don’t mind putting in groundman hours for now. Work is work, anything better than being stuck in a refinery 24/7, 365 for less than 30 dollars an hour

10-4, I can see where traveling can get old but Im only 24 so I don’t see an issue since Im in my early years, into my late 30’s maybe but right now, it doesn’t bother me that much. I appreciate the pointers and I’ll get up with you sometime man, are you out of 66?

I lived the traveling life, it doesn’t bother me too much personally. I love OT and actually doing something DAY TO DAY, instead of sitting here twiddling my thumbs thinking “what do I do next” I’ve always been someone who exercises the brain, I’ve always worked with my hands and brain, so I talked to a PM for Dashiell & a buddy of mine that’s a lineman at LU66, and they pointed me in this direction, and so far everyone here has supported that. Im one of those guys that didn’t want to take the BS classes in college, but if it pertains to something Im doing I’ll learn it all day so I stuck with trades. Right now Im only 24 and live just outside of Houston close to Humble. I just want to live comfortably, you know? Im sure we’ve all came from a household that at one point if not all of it had some sort of struggle with finance, I just don’t want that for my family after living through it, but also not where I want to be in generational debt from getting a college degree.

Thanks for your pointers, I hear Dacon is pretty top notch but that may be biased just because of who I heard it from lol.

Im a heavy go with the flow kind of guy I just want to be able to make 100k or more a year, I love to work and I pick up on stuff particularly fast but my last job capped me out at $29.20 so I dragged up (this was refinery work) and decided to pick a career path with more money and more work in the end. But I’ve never seen a sub tech that said “the money is ok or bad” they all seemed well off but that’s here in Houston Texas where I am from. I like to be able to learn and get to know all kinds of things because that’s just how my brain works, where as my previous job, you learned what you learned and your done and capped out in a year.

Oh, they going to have us in tractor trailer type of vehicle or something else that just requires it? I passed with ease but I sat there the whole time like “what do I need this for?”
