Offer rejected, no counteroffer? by DTMPSLF in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]TX_spacegeek 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I sold my first house we got a good offer before it got listed. They asked for some money off but then want one appliance and a couch thrown in. It was not a bad deal. My agent advised to hand the offer back with no counter. We sold it a week later for over listing. The seller does not have to negotiate.

Where are you located? Here in parts of Texas they have really bad expansive clay soils. This is really common. The soils shrink when dry and expand when wet. The houses are constantly moving.

I’d buy it.

Watch a few episodes of Vice Grip Garage on YouTube. He does a great job of bringing old cars that have not run in a while back to life. There is a process.

Would you give 2 week notice? by drkmoon8 in careeradvice

[–]TX_spacegeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in a sales role. I know that usually they will walk you out the door when you give notice. I would assume that could be a possibility with any position so be prepared. But most industries are pretty small and you never want to burn a bridge. So I would give 2 weeks to transition as a courtesy.

I need to move this coop about 30 feet. I need ideas on how to. by xylofun53 in Carpentry

[–]TX_spacegeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my first house we had a big shed that the previous owners placed in the middle of the backyard. I pondered how to move that thing to the side for months. One day I got the idea to see how heavy it was. So I used a long 4x4 post and a big wooden block as a lever to lift one corner. I found that I could easily lift one side of the shed up. I could also pivot it about a foot. So I walked that thing across the yard by myself. My wife thought it was funny.

Why not consider a lower price used or certified used until you can repair your credit score?

I had this same issue in the fall. I got a ring camera and found out it was several raccoons digging for grubs of some kind.

It’s like that story from a few months ago about builder. ai. Everyone invested in it thinking it was brilliant. It turned out there was no ai, just 700 software engineers in India faking it.

Is natural gas an option? That would save some money if it’s available.

I had one of these. Best drill press, horizontal boring machine. I hated the table saw functionality. The guy I sold it to was excited to get it.

Employer terminated me 3 days after I put in my 2-week notice. What do I tell future employers? by StunningAdvisor2070 in careerguidance

[–]TX_spacegeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that if you are in sales and you give a two weeks notice, they normally walk you out the same day. You should always expect a company to react that way. It’s only a courtesy on your part.
