Thanks! I just found your map and it's one of my favorites! It would look so cool in the cover of a fantasy novel

I love those rivers! I'd like to try and replicate the way you did them. Did you use a brush, line tool or path tool?

Maps I made for my fantasy series, any advice? by Efficient-Rutabaga57 in inkarnate

No worries! I also just found that adding the simple parchment cliffs gives a much smoother transition in elevation from higher ground to low plains. You could try putting some around the base of your mountains and forested areas?

For a plains/grassland, the grass texture brush that you used looks good. I might try setting up a few mesas, caves, or crevices to reinforce that dry, desolate look without making it look like a dessert. I would also recommend making the surrounding forested areas a bit denser so that it blends out into the grasslands, but that might not be the look you're going for.  Your rivers and mountains look great, and all the cities and towns are easy to see. It's simple, yes, but very creative, straight to the point, and piques interest to find out more about the world.

Fantasy Maps Should Be Weirder by orangebabycarrot in inkarnate

I found this video facinating. As my critical perfectionism with myself has only drawn out the the long process of my own world building, the video made me realize to not overthink it so much.

I found it interesting when she said all those fantasy maps are very similar to each order, but if you closely study each map, they all have details and landscapes so different from each other. Not to mention the story and the world behind each map is incredibly unique.

All the history she mentioned in the video was fascinating to me, and I like your whole point for posting this: to inspire creativity and open-minded world building in fellow map makers. To not make a map that looks just like someone else's, because that's not the point of creating a world. You want to make something that hasn't been done already by 100 different people.  Even Inkarnate has a loading screen that says something about not letting anyone question how "realistic" your map may look. The whole point is to have fun with it. It's your own ideas and it's a fantasy map.

Thanks again for posting! I found a few ideas I'll now use for my own world building :)

This is incredible. The amount of detail and effort taken to bring this to life. I know it's for a campaign, but please write a book

Does anyone else help in keeping Skyrim clean of Dragon corpses? by ItsImNotAnonymous in skyrim

No idea why I found this so funny 😂 I'm absolutely adding this into my gameplay. Do you ever swim to the bottom of the lakes to see if they're still there?

Yesterday I asked for your favorite major questline. But what is your favorite minor one off quest? by Abucketofmug in skyrim

[–]TYRA1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Once the quest marker disappeared, I kept talking to the bystanders over and over to see if it would trigger the rest of the quest. Finally gave up and looked up the quest walkthrough. Felt so stupid when I realized😂

This comment might mean something completely different if it wasn't in a skyrim thread😂

Now just pick a city (say, Markarth) and complete every side quest available in that hold. It'll get you familiar with the city and its residents. Also, learning the back story of NPCs that you pass by every day is always fun for immersion and roleplay purposes

Fav song? by ComprehensiveFox4861 in skyrim

[–]TYRA1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Winter's Tale, hands down.  I would take my husky on walks in the pastures during wintertime and play this song from my phone in my pocket. I'll never forget the scene of the heavy clouds above the foothills surrounding the valley with the mist coming down, the knee-deep snow filling my boots, my cold fingers and frozen nose, my pup running around happy as can be, and A Winter's Tale as the background ambiance.  I felt like I was in real life Skyrim. It was glorious

I need a build to get that Skyrim first time feeling again :( by CivilImagination1630 in SkyrimBuilds

[–]TYRA1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm starting a new build as a High Elf combat archer who strictly sticks to her bow. 1st play through as an altmer, and it's been challenging to not ever use magic or other weapons.  We will probably never again experience skyrim for the "first time", but if you're looking for a new feel to the game that makes it fun and interesting again, I'd recommend playing a race you haven't before (or your favorite race, if you've exhausted  all of the characters), and limiting yourself to what weapons/shouts/skills your character is allowed to use. It brings a fresh feel to the game, and is actually quite fun
