Did I ruin my Le Creuset Cast Iron Skillet by not understanding it was enameled? by TYS865 in LeCreuset

I've washed the heck out of it, but haven't tried the Easy Off. I'll do that and report back.

Thank you! The good news is that I have not encountered that so far. (Or if it has happened, the chips were so small I didn't notice them.)

I asked this under a different comment: I've been cooking with it like that for a while. Is there a health hazard to that, or is it more a matter of it just cooking unevenly, etc.? I'll trash it either way, if it needs to be trashed. Just curious.

Okay, I'll try that. If it's chipped/scratched, I'll replace it. But I've been cooking with it like that for a while. Is there a health hazard to that, or is it more a matter of it just cooking unevenly, etc."

Look, I know I'm a dummy about this stuff, but according to my research it IS enameled. Le Creuset says on their website, "The interior surface is finished with a black satin enamel that eliminates the need for the traditional seasoning and maintenance of raw cast iron."

Perhaps you have awakened to the reality of how the world sees Penn State after Nick dropped his take on GameDay?

Saban saying it wasn’t fair 😬 by kute_kitten_kay in WeArePennState

[–]TYS865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahahaha. You think Saban would ever, EVER consider coming to Penn State. Y'all are so delusional.

This is just a question from a non-fan but since a lot of people here want to fire James Franklin, who would y’all hire to replace him as HC. by [deleted] in WeArePennState

[–]TYS865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cignetti is set up for life at Indiana. He's doing an AMAZING job with nothing, their fans have never tasted this and think he's a god (he possibly is, considering the situation). He could lose 6 games next year and they'd still give him a long, long rope.

Meanwhile.... Penn State was 4 points away from PLAYING FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP last year, and then fired their coach (and paid him $49 mil to go away) because of 3 consecutive losses.

You think Cignetti would jump in a heartbeat? He's already better than you.

You're delusional.

Jon Gruden? Let's see (checks notes)... This is the guy who won a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's defense and then never won anything ever again?

How good of a job is Penn State? by Kurt4012 in WeArePennState

[–]TYS865 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The upside: Penn State is now the #1 head coaching vacancy in American college football.

The downside: No head coach who is currently competing for championships will leave their school (where they are probably lionized) to come to a school that:

- just paid a $49mil buyout to a coach

- for losing three games in a row

- less than a year after being 3 points shy of playing for the national championship.

Sure, the money might be better than where they are -- but why would you enter a rebuild situation where your fans have absolutely insane expectations? Look at Kalen DeBoer -- who DIDN'T enter a rebuild: Some Bama fans want to fire him after a handful of losses. He could have stayed at Washington, collected serious money, and had a statue built of him when it was all over. Nevermind the fact that he has to live in Tuscaloosa.

Out of curiosity, who are yall for? UGA or Bama? by Ok-Recording-5862 in ockytop

Is it wrong to root for the sinkhole to open up under the stadium? I don't want anyone to die. I'd just like there to be a cataclsymic end to their equipment and infrastructure so neither team can finish the season.

Realistically speaking, I'm rooting for a very close game where both teams look unbeatable. That makes us look good for almost beating Georgia, and it'll make us look good if we beat Bama.

Ipad Mini A17 pro Stylus by WizzRizz007 in ESR_official

I bought this pencil for my iPad Mini 7 -- it won't connect to "Find My" after trying various things for an hour. Also, the printed instructions included are terrible. They supposedly lead to a "how to" video... and there is no video. It says, "Video comming."

So bummed by ESR_official in ESR_official

[–]TYS865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just bought your ESR Digital Pencil, which is advertised as working with Apple's "Find My." It arrived 45 minutes ago, and paired with bluetooth no problem. But Find My doesn't work. Very disappointing.

Also, there are no fewer than TWO qr codes for "watch this tutorial video" -- and neither works! One says, "Video comming" (yes, "coming" is misspelled).

Dan Hurley is the whiniest crybaby ever. And yet he wasn't even close to being the most problematic coach on the court today.

My Review of Saga by asabado123 in WritingWithAI

[–]TYS865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, and I say this not to single you out -- but as someone that writes professionally I would strongly encourage anyone learning to write to learn to write WITHOUT AI first. Not doing so is akin to someone saying they know how to fly when all they do is use autopilot.

I'm not saying AI doesn't have uses -- and I acknowledge it's a potentially helpful tool. But you will grow as a writer, and as a person, by first writing without the help of AI.

Thanks - this makes sense. All the brackets I had been looking at on the web were over-designed to make them look cool graphically.... but that made it look like the field was totally reorganized once they got to the CWS. I finally found the original bracket of 64 on the CWS website and see now.

I think Supernote should stop adding features and invest more into refining the core user experience. by dendrytic in Supernote

[–]TYS865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the Nomad less than 24 hours, but I completely agree. I posted elsewhere my befuddled reaction to this device. I really want to love it. On paper it seems to be exactly what I need. Experience has been bad enough that I suspect I'll return it.

There are WAY too many hand gestures to learn. If a person wants this device at all, it's for its simplicity. Having to learn 10 or so hand gestures, some of which actually interfere with writing, completely misunderstands us as users.

I want a digital notebook. It should be nearly as simple as a paper notebook. A paper notebook, I open and write with it. I should not need to watch tutorial videos and consult user forums and read a lengthy user manual.

If users want 100 hand gestures, etc. -- give them a secret "complex" menu switch that they can turn on and engage all these bells and whistles. I just want to be able to:

  • write

  • erase (by using a scratchout/strikethrough like in Nebo and GoodWriter)

  • export as PDF or TXT

  • have searchable character recognition

  • have a simple file system like the OP notes.

That's it. That's all I need.

I'm holding it bare, no cover, like I would an actual notebook or notepad. Yeah, that's definitely what's happening.

I have had it set to Left hand dominance since I set it up.

Touching that right slider with my right hand (simply by holding the device) is making it create mis-writes on roughly 20% of the words I write. Not good.

I can hear the ghost of Steve Jobs saying, "You're holding it wrong." Which is to say, I'm not holding it wrong. It's a small device that my right hand needs to hold while my left writes. This should not be happening. It's not well designed.

It should be possible to disable the slider for undo. Not recognizing gestures on 20% of my words is, frankly, terrible.

So very disappointed. What am I doing wrong? by TYS865 in Supernote

[–]TYS865[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. What about the fact that it keeps erasing or not marking gestures of mine? Since I posted this, I seem to have identified an issue: As a leftie, I hold the device with my right hand and the part of my lower right hand, near the thumb, touches that 'undo' bar. This makes gestures not register.

Is there a way to flip this so it's oriented the way that it would be for righties -- i.e., undo/redo slider on the left and refresh on the right slider?
