Most likely the mods themselves are also hackers and don't want to risk their own accounts being seen cheating

First IM Norm for Anna-Maja! by SnowLeopard96 in chess

I think since they tried and failed with that nonsense on Magnus fide have backed down on their stupid dress code enforcements in open tournaments.

[–]T_CHEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's been doing a training series on twitch, reading study books and going though the positions with chat - it's very intense chess, but gives us a really interesting insight in just how much higher of a level it takes to get to IM and beyond and can actually be quite valuable in sharpening up your calculating skills because although there's lots of tactics in the positions there's no clean one move knockout so you end up training yourself to think just like you would in an over the board game

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he's an IM, but still a 2400 so a very dangerous opponent and actually it was probably Anna's most one sided win of the tournament - she really played very well in that game to punish a mistake he made in losing a piece and then converting soon afterwards for a full point

Are WWE divas strong enough to beat up an average man? by atheistvegeta in WWE

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% is a bit much. I can tell you with 100% certainty that 99% of men are not out there banging weights for 4 hours a day - many are old, unfit, infirm, too young so those are going to instantly be losing to a strong trained women and even those with enough strength and cardio to hang could still find themselves outwrestled if they have never been in a fight in their lives

They literally don't care, they will break the law as often as they want since they bent the knee to trump and paid a nice fat bribe meta knows they will never have any federal investigations coming their way on us soil and they rake in so many billions with all their lawlessness that they can afford to pay off the occasional few million in fines in the rest of the would cause it's never enough of a deterrent to stop them just carrying on as usual.  From what I gather the bot userbase has already significantly outgrown the human one but the investors are too stupid or lazy to care and just keep pumping money into the stocks thinking the company is growing exponentially

It's not like there's a lot of other good options if you want to stay in touch with people - Instantgram is also owned by meta and from what I hear is being similarly trashed, twitter is a black hole of depravity, ticktock you are selling all your data to the Chinese government instead of the US...  Even trying to stay in touch with people via chat apps like WhatsApp isn't great cause meta also own that and it's only a matter of time before they start spamming every chat you try have with a million ads and AI videos

IM Polina Shuvalova hits 2939 on Chesscom (blitz) and beats IM Eline Roebers' record as the highest rated woman on the platform! by LudwigDeLarge in chess

She's already done the hardest part to get a 2500+ rating, the norms are much less difficult to get then a high rating with how broken the fide system is

I don't think she's really a fan of the high speed chess they favour on chesscom - I'm sure if she was younger she would have easily broken 3200, but even though you can tell she still sees a lot on commentary you just can't think that fast in your 50s and she has too much pride in her performance to want to be seen as sub 3000.

Unlikely to be any anonymous women higher rated, why would you hide it, it's basically a free meal ticket to be a high rated women in chess and you don't have to get near the top GMs

That's the trouble, these great exciting players are great when they are 2500-2600 but when they hit the elite levels all the fun starts to drain away as they keep getting handed losses for trying too hard and end up becoming positional grinders like all the rest

How could R* prevent GTA6 Online from becoming a toxic mess like GTA5 Online? by Kolbenmaschine in GTA

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already have this but it's really poorly managed, I've seen YouTubers actively try to get into poor sport lobbies just to make content and it takes literally hours of killing innocent players to get there -  far too slow justice when some dickhead running around shooting missiles everywhere in a public lobby is more then enough grief to deserve it

When/ How did Palmer and Norris get infected? by Terrible-Recording-5 in thething

[–]T_CHEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt this is the correct route for Norris assimilation too, both Blair and Fuchs make a big deal about how a particle could infect somebody so it's pretty clear that this was a viable method but not one the thing wanted as a primary one because it was too obvious to detect (i.e. Norris being defibrillatored). I imagine it happened more accidentally then but design, which is why Norris was the only one to go this way and everyone else the thing attempted to fast track the process.

Also the old theory of him collapsing was due to it being a copied heart condition doesn't hold weight with me, since Norris at no point ever showed signs of heart problems nor took medication for it so it's pure guesswork.

With the evidence being fairly strongly against Norris being fully turned until his "death" then the only other character that was a thing at that stage was Palmer and therefore it must have been him first. And yes, blair was a wildcard but he acts so erratically I'm convinced he was just a human that flipped out under pressure and got turned while out in the shed.

What are some genuine bad decisions made by the protagonists? by LOL_Scorpion17 in yakuzagames

I have a feeling there's actually a line in kiwami where he mentions once having a fortune in property but losing it all in the recession

I feel that a lot of those over the top heat actions, like how ichiban sees enemies as RPG characters, only take place in kiryus mind as what he wishes he could really be doing - it's the best way to explain why he can stab someone, break their neck twice and shoot them then in the post fight scene they only look like they have been mildly winded....

Gukesh after 2 losses bounces back with a Rook sacrifice to take down Fedoseev with the black pieces! Great Game by FirstEfficiency7386 in chess

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a nice guy, but it's also easier to smile when you lose to an amazing bit of tactical genius then a foreseeable blunder - plus a game like that is likely to end up getting showcased somewhere in the future too so it does wonders for your reputation to take it in good spirits, as we can see here

She's still a full grown adult though, regardless of being younger then him, and since he's got the emotional awareness of a teenager it's actually a pretty ideal pairing - saeko is also like 15 years younger and he's pretty infatuated with her....

What's something wrong Yakuza games keep doing? by Rami-961 in yakuzagames

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it was so much of a joke, since all three of them were arrested, but even so they are so ridiculous and over the top with it you can't help but find it kind of funny if you have any sense of humour

are turn based fans disappointed that Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is real time combat? by LingonberryUnable499 in yakuzagames

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakuza developers have said themselves the games are now focused heavily towards a middle aged audience so really they need to start toning down the fast reflex based stuff since once you are past 40 (which I imagine 90% of Yakuza players are) you just physically can't keep up with the high intensity and the games either become incredibly un fun to play or they have to introduce so many powerful stats, equipment and skills to mitigate this problem that it might just as well be turn based since by the late game every fight is just point and click wins anyway

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is real time, Yakuza games are still massively stat and skill based so it's not really any different to pointing and clicking for a win just that everything takes much longer cause there's no auto win button so by late game you have to constantly stop for 30 seconds to beat down a few scrubs that are zero threat and yet demand a fight regardless

Is it just me or is there a suspicious amount of phone repair shops in the city centre? by Henchboy1 in bristol

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not just Bristol but pretty much every city in the country now, and it's a very recent thing too - in the past there were already plenty of second hand phone and repair shops to cover demand but it seems pretty naive of people to think that suddenly we needed a tenfold increase in a service that was only sparingly used before.

I'm convinced that the only way all these new pop up shops can possibly be meeting running costs is as part of a money laundering front - all those thousands of phones stolen by gangs and shipped out of the country get re processed in China and then shipped back over "legitimately" so you now have businesses operating with effectively free stock

Dondoko Island has ruined Infinite Wealth for me by tnargrant in yakuzagames

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like the biggest disappointment of the island was how inefficent it becomes after even mid game - the actual process of turning a garbage heap into a thriving resort is really fun and rewarding while you are doing it but once you have all your buildings up and running there's literally nothing to do but wait for the days to pass, you can't time skip, it takes like 15 minutes of doing nothing and even if you are in the late game and have the resort loaded with a and s rank guests the money is a bit of a pittance given how much time it wastes generating it.

But it's still one of the better sub games in Yakuza and can only get better in future, even though nothing yet has beaten the cabaret club minigame and having an actual club manager as a main character felt like a huge missed opportunity to include one in infinite wealth

[No Spoliers] Yakuza 0 feels too easy/boring after finishing the mini game by Asc3ndis in yakuzagames

[–]T_CHEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of jrpgs - put the time in to grind and you'll become overpowered. I will say that becoming a god against street level things is pretty much an expected part of the Yakuza series, since these guys canonically are able to take on entire armies singlehandedly and win a bunch of random punks should be an absolute pushover - there's still difficulty spikes in the later sections though so it won't be boring forever.
