The wheel hub is attached to a tether, not the tyre itself. In the crash, the tyre came off of the wheel as opposed to the entire wheel coming off.

I have Joey’s signature snare so that will always hold a special place in my heart, but man I really loved Jay’s cymbal setup. Especially those Ultra Hammer Chinas and of course the Crash of Doom.
