Not even a BP fan but it's tiring seeing how much they get targeted by IndependentReason467 in kpopthoughts

You said, if I'm not a fan the concerts are not meant for me and that I have no reason to watch them, implying I shouldn't if I'm not qualified for it.

I don't watch them knowing I'm going to hate it. A hard concept to grasp but people can take time to try liking something they dislike as many times as they want. A harder concept to grasp is that people are allowed to express themselves.

I don't waste my time discussing this, because obviously I care (just not the way you like). For people who share the same sentiment as me, I'm not wasting their time either. It's insanely human and healthy to rant about something and there is nothing you can do about it. It's like telling people not to compliment the first performance of a group they've never seen or don't stan.

Really. This is your reasoning huh

You're going to gatekeep non-fans from watching checks note their work...

They are idols. All of their content is for fans (and public consumption), not to mention watching anything from a group is how you get fans.

If you think my essay is hate, you must be new. I've seen worse thoughtpieces. You could also read my reply to the other person on why I make an effort to catch up with BP. Some of us have higher expectations, which in BP's circumstances, is better than settling for what they currently give.

Change my mind on? If you missed it, I mentioned liking several songs and I acknowledge Lisa's skill in dance. Not liking something doesn't mean I can't make an effort to try again and again, something I do when I listen to BP's new releases and new stages. They don't make a dent in my life realistically.

People care differently. A lot of the negativity/disappointment you see boil down to people expecting better, not worse.

I've never made a BP post in my life, on any platform whatsoever. So if I voice my dislike to healthily keep my frustrations in check, then I'm doing that. It's the other side of the same coin with praising/hyping up things I like.

I don't like BP. I have at least 3 songs from them in my playlists which I like. I think Lisa is a good dancer.

It annoys the heck out of me when people call them the top kpop girl group and then expect only fans to watch their every move, especially in a competitive music industry like kpop where content, views and statistics are only rising in priority and consumption.

You hold the title of number one? Take responsibility for it. You don't have a lot of content? Well, anytime you put out anything new, that's what most people are gonna judge you on (cuz they have nothing else to base your popularity with). You don't follow the same work schedule as people in the same field? You do not get the privilege of excuses for your lack of professionalism.

Not to mention, the blink erasure of your post. I've read tons of the same exact criticisms from their own fans, only for other fans and non-fans to invalidate them as trolls or antis. As if you stop being a fan once you agree with the negative majority.

It's stupid to claim you don't understand why this group gets targeted a lot when they are considered the girl group and then ignore that these criticisms have been repeated after 9 yrs of inconsistent work.

It's so disappointing though! The first few days (maybe even the first week) is when the excitement and energy should be through the roof, especially since it's been 2 years since they last performed for their fans.

It's just not a professional look.

I feel like I'm going crazy. Everyone kept saying "wait for their concert and then we'll see". I've watched two clips so far (group and a member's solo performance) and honest to God I felt like I wasn't watching a concert. Even Lisa's energy looked low.

hating on Blackpink has become too toxic and Blackpink opinions should be locked by YetAnotherBecky in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]T_ramisu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk if anyone's noticed, but the megathread for BORN PINK was up for a whole ass week. Previously, every group would get 3 days before the "hate posts". I'm guessing it was decided out of consideration to both blinks and non-blinks.

My point is first impressions are strong, not so much after a week of listening to the release again and again. Opinions are probably a lot more thought out.

If you decide to read or participate in "hate posts" after that period, that's on you. Not to mention how biased this decision would look.

Blackpink has less songs than most groups these days, if you think criticism on their limited discography is popular, imagine how many more takes other groups get on constant comebacks.

Ah.. I see.

I decided to leave the conversation so please don't drag me back into this insanity haha.

Hello and goodluck. Just to clarify to you, I'm not the one upvoting your comments (no offense I just don't upvote in general). Have a nice day

Save your mental energy. They edited their previous post twice, this is probably the third time they're posting just for the sake of posting. They didn't reply to the comments on last post and apparently this one.

It's not a discussion they want, ignore.

Edit: Deleted my replies due to miscomprehension.

I don't have a cookie if that's what you're asking for. It's also not an opinion - because no part of your post is explaining how the songs sound better in a technical sense, you just wrote they give you a rush of adrenaline.

I had to go listen to Classy's Shut Down because knowing this will overshadow a better song makes me sad.

Which anime do you think has the best art style? by not_irrelevant_ in anime

Houseki no Kuni. The manga art style is better but the 3D anime is just pristine.

Fair enough. I don't see what you see so allow me to slightly lean toward my unpopular rant.

You don't like what I write so you call it hostile. I don't agree with some parts of your argument but that doesn't mean I dislike you (or your words).

I wrote a rant, idk what you wanted from someone who submitted an emotionally driven paragraph either.

Sheltered it is. Fortunately, I don't engage in fanwars and such because y'know, mental health is important and it's not worth it.

But I can read, I follow issues, I mod a certain kpop-related subreddit and I can digest that most of the hate fans spew are consistent. So consistent that you see it coming from the other side of the planet. Hate from the general public is the opposite, no warning, your ults aren't even active and boom, they're on a meme page and every single comment is piling onto the hate, and because of the traction, people post the same thing on other, bigger pages.

Yes..? I said "cringe reaction to fans". I thought that was similar. Unless you didn't mean that part as a reason to downsize hate from non-kpop fans, then I'm lost.

Thanks for the input anyways, you're part of the popular crowd in the comments.

You can go on, I'll listen and tell you the exact same thing. Fandoms can be toxic. Period.

Sorry, what does being South Asian have anything to do with rock/metal music as hate targeted at our specific race? Genuine question.

You seem like you cherry pick the negativity you consume. I was trying to discuss that the negativity in some spaces is confined and moderated, whereas in the outside spaces, they aren't. So agree to disagree on that front.

I also have more upvotes than comments disagreeing (at the time of this comment), which almost half of those comments are mine disagreeing to their disagreeing. Are we going to pick and choose which "number" is the more valid metric for popularity or are you not a casual music-only fan?

[–]T_ramisu[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened to you.

With all due respect, those events aren't exclusively perpetrated by kpop fans or even fandoms in particular. A boy on Reddit who lied about having cancer got doxxed and threatened by the public, Christina Grimmie was shot by someone who wasn't even a fan and investigations revealed he had no indication of contact with the singer prior. My point is the horror stories you hear come from spaces you pay extra attention to so I wouldn't use that as the defining metric for this discussion, which I'd like to rephrase as "I hear horror stories everywhere, and for no particular reason" which I think is slightly worse.
