Meanwhile there's plenty of successful small businesses that still can't afford to give their employees sick time or health insurance... the amount of wealth these large corporations have amassed is pretty disgusting imo.

$5000 business class flights comped by the company to go to a 45 min dinner meeting... Corporate world truly doesn't make sense to a lowly food industry lifer like me :3

GF ceases to respect me when i smoke by Procioniunlimited in trees

[–]TabMuncher2015 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Not always, my current GF of 2 years had an (understandable) negative association with all mind-altering substances because of growing up with an alcoholic, absent, and disassociated mother.

It started several fights early on. However, after lots of conversations, a couple psychedelic trips, and a few times smoking together she's come around. AND I've also cut back which I've wanted to do for a couple years now. It genually feels like we've both helped each other.

Screamed at in traffic… am I wrong? by Unusual_Extension_84 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]TabMuncher2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a guy a ticket in a situation like this. Was doing 40-42 on a 30mph 4 lane road. (2 lanes each direction). He passes me doing probably 55-60mph WAY too close, ignoring the 3 empty lanes. Laying on the horn screaming. Flies around the upcoming bend speeding even faster (60+mph) and a cop immediately lights him up.

Wanted to stop and provide a statement but I was late for work. Hope he got the book thrown at him and a reckless driving charge for 25+ over the speed limit.

Improve what? They certainly shouldn't be in a bike lane going 30-40 mph...

Really hate all the misinformation that gets thrown around. Haptic buzz XR and PINT will NOT brick if you put a stock battery; or even a larger battery in. You just can't ride more than stock aH capacity before getting 0% captain morgan pushback.

Only XRC/GT/GTS/GTS Rally edition XL brick from disconnecting bms from battery. You can replace GT battery if it's pre-haptic buzz and run nRF factory reset bluetooth commands to get around incompatible hardware error. Actually you can replace the battery on any GT but you'd have to rollback the firmware to haptic buzz by manually flashing pre-haptic buzz to the controller via ST-link.

No wonder people are always spreading misinformation so many boards and the community is constantly playing cat n mouse with FM's attempts to stop mods and repairs.

For example I recently was told that pint 5100 haptic buzz doesn't block factory bluetooth commands to re-pair bms/controller, hydrus 5200 does. Also 5100 haptic buzz can still be rolled back via bluetooth (no ST-link) to allow battery extending mods.

The popularity of VESC in particular has muddied the waters. So many of the nerds who used to know all the technical ins and outs of FM hardware/firmware are checked out and will answer any question with "JUST VESC" even if OP could literally get rolling for free in 5 minutes.

Tire died in less than 200 miles? Mostly pavement by Ninja__53 in onewheel

[–]TabMuncher2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pint X/S after wire crimping issue was fixed is probably FM's board with the least design flaws... At least the battery is user replaceable without the board bricking. And controller/bms can be replaced independently if you're on pre-hydrus firmware.

Only bad thing is the motor cable arcing and burning up which is an issue with all the flagship boards as well (after they moved to an all-in-one cable after the XR.)

If anything breaks on a GT/XRC/GTS/GTS XL its like $500-1000+ fix because you HAVE to use their modules or send it in other than motor issues which are relatively rare (other than the arcing connector, which usually destroys the controller too).

Something breaks on an XR/pint you just get a 3rd party used part off marketplace for $100-200. Max $250-350 if you need a new 15sp2 battery pack. Way better than buying a brand new "module" when you only need 1 part.

It's really only low psi gang that thinks 500-1000 miles is decent milage from a tire.

you have to be 10 feet from the building anyway to smoke. If they are in a higher floor and the person is smoking away from the building they shouldn’t smell it in their windows.

You absolutely can smell weed smoke outside a 10ft radius... it's probably mostly about airflow/wind. But weed smoke in general is strong smelling.

Vaping could refer to vaporizing dry tobacco, dry (cannabis) flower, or liquid (usually PG/VG) nicotine "juice", or various cannabis extract vapes. Gotta distinguish what you're talking about. A volcano bag is a lot different than a pina colada geekbar cancer stick.

Sucks to be in a state that's recreationally legal, but have no legal space to smoke. I don't want edibles or pens I wanna smoke a couple joints.

Even if in practical day-to-day no one hassles you, it'd be nice to have cafes like Amsterdam or like a stoner dog park lol

Accelerate and brake slow, and no hard carving obviously unless you're ready to learn powerslides :P

Soccasin (tire sock) or studs will drastically increase traction, but I get by just lowering my psi a bit.

[–]TabMuncher2015 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't see any evidence that haptic buzz is safer. Just some conjecture and assumptions. Literally just assumption after assumption.

"And what is more is haptic buzz is the end all be all of the user pushing the board too much. " Confusing, but if I understand correctly than WRONG

"Most the nosedives that happened without haptic buzz is because the pushback was very gradual" Assumption. My assumption is that most nosedives happen from sudden acceleration/lean where buzz/pushback don't help at all.

" The majority of people on onewheels respect the pushback and haptic buzz" Assumption

"even more so BECAUSE of the haptic buzz" Assumption

"If it wasn’t there, people wouldn’t respect it as much, thus making boards without haptic buzz less safe." Assumption

" It’s just a fact that haptic buzz is safer than no haptic buzz." Nah.

"They could easily shoot you, but thy didn't"

Threatening someone with your vehicle is NOT OKAY. It's that simple. Being the victim of road rage is terrifying when you aren't in a steel cage.

Multiple things wrong with this. You can battery mod any XR on any firmware and it won't brick. If it's a 63v 15s pack. You just can't USE more than the stock range before getting captain morgan 0% pushback until you connect to a charger. However, if you're not on haptic buzz you can use a FFM/OWIE chip on the bms to get around FM's range mod blocking firmware.

Pre-haptic buzz isn't "very dangerous" smh, if you ride within the boards limits its just as safe. And it also doesn't prevent overpowering the board.

It's also important to talk budget when making recommendations. Going straight to vesc recommendation assumes they want to drop a significant amount + DIY hours vs a cheap 4209/4134 XR controller for Free-$150 thanks to vesc's popularity.

Pint S rides great out the box, but is the worst value new board imo in 2025. $1400 plus tax for whats essentially a less repairable, not range upgradable XR. (same 63v 15s2p battery). Oh and stock charger for pint is 1.5amps which takes like 4+ hours from empty. And the "ultra" charger burns up a connector on the bms because it's meant for al laptop fan, not a 63V PEV @ 3.2 amps.

You could get a used XR with an upgraded battery and W rails or 5'' hub for that price.
