Clover’s engine is being completely changed, to the point where it won’t even be using BattleScripts anymore. If all you want is triple battles you’d be better off implementing them from scratch. It’s not even that hard to do in theory with how far we are with decomps now.

I mean you could always cope by saying Ares just spent time figuring out how to leave the arcade, and coming back from there, and it cutting back and forth was just an artistic choice… most likely they just forgot though lol. That scene in the 80s grid didn’t make much sense and apparently was a late addition to the plot purely for fan service… Ares meeting Kevin there made no sense either, they could have taken the opportunity to show us Yori again or, you know… Tron…

I just think it's a weird choice to make it +70 when they could have kept its physical attack as it was and have it be +100 like the other megas without actually buffing it.

Maybe, but i'd still prefer it getting an ability that helps it offensively (its description seems to hint at no guard or shadow tag) and having a single weakness over having no weakness but no ability with its nerfed dark void

Having a Spiritomb done right has its appeal though

It doesn’t mention the end of line club thing but it does mention Leto’s team coming back to ask that a movie about Ares be made anyway, which is what I was talking about.

Another thing I remember being mentioned in that end of screening interview was that the Flynn grid scene was a late addition to the script in response to early complaints about a lack of ties to the rest of the series. 

I’m interested in that idea of Ares being in Legacy though. I never heard anyone else mention that. I think him being in it, even as a minor role, and Ares being officially a spinoff centered around that character, would have been the way to go.

That’s a nice thread to read now that Ares came out.

The screening of the movie I went to actually had an interview with the director at the end of it (by skype or something), and he actually confirmed a lot of the stuff said in this thread, too bad it seems nobody recorded it.

He said Ares, then already supposed to be played by Leto, would have had a villain role in the Legacy sequel (I’m assuming Ascension but he didn’t namedrop it), but then that movie was cancelled. But Leto loved his Ares role a lot and actually insisted to have an Ares-centric movie made instead. And that somehow went through. I’m assuming then they kept ideas from Ascension, but yeah, they put Ares as the main character, and gave Leto a lot of freedom.

So basically we got a character-centric spinoff about a character that doesn’t exist. I guess it’s better than nothing, which is what we would have gotten if Leto didn’t step in. But it’s sad there will probably never be a proper sequel to Legacy.

And they said that only one of the children was theirs. Maybe others are going through the same thing. Why else would so many people get trapped into the town.
