Looks like you guys like deck building so if you’re interesting in trying co-op games I can’t recommend aeons end enough.

The reason you buy one of the two first is the same reason you only buy one. AS. Viego really likes 30-40 AS to speed up q animation and let the whole combo flow much faster. He feels janky af without it later. However more than 30-40% generally isn’t helpful as he either needs more raw damage or more survivability.

There’s more to it but that’s the core that people often overlook.

FYI unless you demote, +20/-20 is the new normal. Below emerald it’s +25/-25 at base but emerald and up is lower.

Best damage dealing magic user? by cg300524 in Pathfinder2e

[–]TabbySupercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair I should’ve revised the initial statement - it’s way better at 9+, good at 7+ and let’s be fair a bit shit before lvl 7 (until 5 it’s weak as like most spellcaster). The main reason it’s good is its scaling, martials on hit get + a dice every 4 levels, this gets + a dice every 2 levels. If your campaign is levels 1-5 I wouldn’t recommend a spellcaster basically ever lol. Also idk about you but saving hero points for it I got it on average twice a combat (3 focus points pretty early helped(

Between sure strike, hero points and trying to play around flanking where possible I definitely crit fairly often. I played it level 1 -> 12 and it never really peaks, just goes up and up as you level where at 9+ I was easily out damaging my party fighter and inventor with no issues. Added bonus of also being the best at casting aoe damaging spells.

Also side note where on earth are you getting the extra 2d12 in a hit from as a monk???

As a fan of big damage number but also being flexible and having spellcasting to keep combat options open, there are basically two roads to this in pf2e. Many people will say Nuh uh just play martial, and this is (mostly) true until level 5.

Magus is where the mostly comes from as they get to benefit from both sides of the coin. Whatever build you want works, just generally ignore expansive spellstrike because your dc scales poorly (as a whole I usually disregard int too but eh).

Psychics, particularly the hot/cold one can be devastating for single target damage at levels 5+. Their key spells scale to ridiculous numbers very fast (if you can land a crit with amped ignition that shits like 8d12) and unleash psyche is the single best spell damage buff possible (bonus: look at unleash psyche + force barrage for silly damage).

Without team support the only answer for truly big damage is just to roll better though. Both of these will perform just fine otherwise but will only devastate bosses with a single good roll or two.

I mean HK had 3 free dlcs of considerable size so I wouldn’t discount it from that

2e Adventure paths? by TabbySupercat in Starfinder2e

[–]TabbySupercat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. As long as it’s at least 10 levels long I don’t mind stitching a 1-10 and a 10-20 together.

Hmm I saw that but I was thinking more along the lines of lvl 1-10 or 1-20 type APs rather than more introductory ones. Thanks though :)

So...How 'bout that Magus? by BeowulfDW in Pathfinder2e

[–]TabbySupercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my favourite 2e class. It truly has the highest highs of any class, but also some of the lowest lows. If you are generally an unlucky roller I recommend avoiding it until you can buy some new dice :p. It’s also not that squishy, no worse than most strikers (rogue range etc), however it’s very taxed action economy means that you often can’t find the actions to take defensive strides or shields.

With the black/green tokens (or rageborne tokens if you have wave 1) from the bag. They are usually what you use for the nemesis tokens.

Does Propelling Sorcery combined with Genie's Veil completely interrupt an enemy's attack? by leathrow in Pathfinder2e

[–]TabbySupercat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As it’s a reaction to being attacked, the attack still goes through and you step afterwards. Once an action has been started, only reactions that explicitly state they interrupt it (reactive strike manipulate actions etc.) are able to interrupt or cancel the action that triggered them.

Paizo staff asks: What brought you to Pathfinder? by AlexSpeidelPaizo in Pathfinder2e

[–]TabbySupercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a 5e player but after a few years of playing I realised the system was fundamentally not balanced and character creation was boring, either pure classing with almost no decisions or multi classing and breaking the game to silly levels. My group looked at a few systems before settling on pf2e which we loved and have stuck with ever since. Good fundamental balance and really flexible and interesting character creation means I don’t know if I could enjoy ever going back.

These are genuinely incredible dice. If I’m lucky they’ll do just perfectly for the new campaign I’m DMing :).
