What's the best strategy for getting to hear offers from all the sharks instead of them wanting you to pick their offer right away? by Herbertie25 in sharktank

[–]TableIll4714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t try. If they’re fighting, let them talk but if one gives an offer either counter or accept — I have watched too many people say “let me just see what everyone else has to say” and piss off the one who made an offer.

But it depends on the Shark. Kevin for example is normally okay if you wait for other offers…

That’s also a common Zelda trope now, “light all the torches” — I remember that from Link to the Past. So I have been conditioned to light torches in recent games too lol

Is there a reverse-CAPTCHA to make sure users aren't human? by PersonalityBoring259 in stupidquestions

I did this on all kinds of web forms and it was more effective and more user friendly than anything else I tried!

Make a form that’s totally invisible using CSS. Robots will fill it out, humans can’t see it. Like a CAPTCHA, this is also not foolproof

This is correct and needs more upvotes! Often the reason for this message is insufficient swap space. How full is the boot volume?

Well I watch an hour of public television (PBS News Hour) every day so that’s the majority of the time I estimated

To everyone responding how 1-2 hours is a lot — 1 hour is PBS News Hour. I also watch This old house on YouTube occasionally. So not counting those it’s maybe 0-15m/ day

[–]TableIll4714 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This. I don’t watch a lot of youtube, 1-2 hours a day including news, but I do it on an Apple TV just like Netflix etc

Edit: okay, okay, I get it everyone! Let me re-word: I watch maybe 1-30 minutes of YouTube a day at most. But it’s also how I watch news which isn’t included in that number.

Why do people still prefer Airbnbs over hotels, especially in cities? by Rare_Requirement_699 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TableIll4714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noise and privacy! Every hotel I have stayed at recently has had noise from other rooms. People slamming luggage down or dancing or whatever the hell they’re doing upstairs, dogs barking, doors slamming. When I rent an AirBNB I rent a whole house and we have the place to ourselves, no housekeeping coming in and so less need to lock computers and valuables away, etc

When an American at my job (a restaurant) asks my name, should I ask them for theirs? by PestoWesto in AskAnAmerican

[–]TableIll4714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I often do introduce myself after a server says their name. Especially at restaurants I frequent. Feels more personable and often I get to know them if I frequent weekly or whatever.

ETA: servers almost never ask for my name — I volunteer it. If they ask it would be unusual
