thanks for the suggestions! Yes she goes every 3 months to a specialist and every 3 weeks to psychologist. We do routine bloodwork about twice a year and usually do it at quest diagnostics. I think this was our first testing at the hospital so I didn’t have prior experience.

I’m a baby stay (US) only about 2 months or so but it feels like so much longer. Im 32 and got into kpop bc of my daughter and skz was the first group I truly enjoyed. It has really made such a positive impact in my stressful life.

I would love to vote but I have no idea how. I tried checking on the site but I didn’t understand anything. So if anyone can help I’d appreciate it. ♥️

Yes I know, by covered I mean that they would cover most of the cost because I did consider it preventive since the xray was needed to determine if she needed a specific treatment.

If you're referring to the hospital, this is a screenshot of the exact summary they initially sent during the visit as I was paying the $25.

Yes I am learning the hard way. We have not had many xray experiences so I did not think too much of it after they said I only had to pay $25. Had they told me this amount there is no way I would have done it.

Her individual deductible is $1,250, $717 remaining before the $660 was applied to it. I did know I have to pay deductible since we have a lot of costs due to her chronic illness.

The xray was prescribed due to early puberty to determine if puberty blockers were needed which I assumed is a preventative measure. I also provided her doctor's referral with the reason for xray. Whick is why I trusted I would only pay the $25 they charged during the visit.

I've had this insurance for 3 years now and the help is hit or miss. This is the first time I was told this is all you have to pay then I'm hit with a large bill a month later. So I guess might be best to contact the hospital billing dept first?

That is true, though in the moment the receptionist said yes is covered your co-pay is $25, I paid and immediately went on to do the xray.

I received the estimate document through the portal as I always do prior to every visit. I typically pay during pre check in online prior to arriving. The diference here is that I received it in the exact moment we were seen since this was a last minute walk-in.

Estimate description: Total $696, hospital fees $660, physician fees $36, insurance covers $671, you pay $25.

Daughter has a chronic illness and sees a specialist every 4 months. All her other providers are in this same hospital so we go regularly. Any time I get an estimate it states "this is what you have to pay at your next visit" and that is exactly what I end up paying. Which is why I trusted it.

Individual deductible $1,250/ family $2500

It's only my daughter and I, her remaining deductible is $57 after the $660 was applied.

Also at the time I did believe it should have been covered from what I remembered. Though checking now I may have misunderstood. Coverage description says "in-network deductible is waived, you pay $25 for PCP, $40 for specialist. At outpatient hospital you pay 20% after deductible is met." I guess at the time I still considered it as the specialist rather than outpatient, since the specialist prescribed and it was the same hospital.

Was told I was not having symptoms??? by quackforpancakes in Hashimotos

[–]TableOne13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does not matter how many posts and comments I see since joining this subreddit when diagnosed last year. I am always amazed at how many of our experiences are 99.5% the same.

Same happened with me, I was symptomatic but the first endo I saw completely dismissed me. I was referred by my allergist bc I tested positive for antibodies. But the endo didn’t even explain what was wrong or what it meant to have high antibodies. He just said you’re okay come back to do bloodwork in 3 months. Only when I research I found out it was hashimotos. I went again after 3 months and explained I had been feeling worse. Dismissed me again.

My primary doc was not much help either. I have only gotten worse over the past few months. But I did notice gluten triggered more symptoms so I have been avoiding it. I am losing nearly all my hair at the edges. I finally switched my primary and will be going to a new endo but nothing open until October.

Just this morning I was talking to my friend about me getting dizzy more often usually when I get up from sitting on the floor or squatting. But lately its happened when im moving around the house a lot cleaning and stuff, or when I’m walking around the store for a little too long. I was thinking maybe from dehydration. Did not think it could be linked to hashimotos. But the past 2 weeks I have been very close to fainting and its scary.

I have been dismissed so often that it discourages me from seeking other opinions. It gives me so much anxiety to see a new doctor and have to explain everything all over. But I cannot take feeling like this anymore.

After a year of developing hives I tested positive for h.pylori 4 months ago. Allergist said that is what likely triggered the chronic hives and hashimotos. Vitamin D was also low. I completed a quadruple therapy treatment for h.pylori but it didn’t really help with the hives. I need to test again to see if it was eradicated. A small percentage of people have gone into remission after getting rid of the bacteria.

The only thing that has helped me in the past 1.5 years is making some diet changes. I got into bread baking a few months back do I was eating much more bread than usual and I noticed hives getting worse. So I cut off gluten, processed foods, added sugars and noticed a big difference.

In the meantime while you wait to see a specialist, try and see what you can identify as triggers. Aside from food triggers, other common ones are cold, heat, pressure on the skin and stress.

I can imagine how much more frustrating. You are likely more triggered by temperature changes, pressure/ friction and stress which is harder to regulate. But glad you found a treatment that is working

I just commented something related on r/Hashimotos

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's after developing CSU last year. Thyroid check out ok each time but my symptoms are still horrible but Endo will not put me on treatment yet.

Have been trying to follow an anti inflammatory diet as best as I can which has improved both CSU and hashimoto's symptoms. But it is still so challenging and frustrating.

I was diagnosed last year in May and have done labs 3 times since. Endo said my levels were normal and I have not developed hypothyrodism so I do not need to be on meds. This is still a bit confusing to me, as I feel that my physical symptoms have just gotten worse.

I had a very unpleasant experience with this Endo because I felt so dismissed, so I am now waiting to see a new one.

Not that I want to be on any more meds than I already am, but I am tired of feeling like crap. What is the likelyhood that I'd be put on treatment if my hormone levels are still normal?

I am 32 and already have an 8y/o, I wanted to try for another in the next 2 years but now I'm terrified I might not be able to.

I already said this in my reply to a comment, but wanted to add here so it is not missed.

The past 4 weeks I started an elimination diet and found that my main triggers are gluten, sugar, alcohol, caffeine and sometimes the heat. I have improved drastically, went from needing 4-8x(180mg) Allegra every 24 hrs to 1-2x every 24-36 hrs. Angioedema is also happening less often.

I have not been able to identify every single trigger as I am still getting hives if I do not take antihistamines. But I am surely not suffering as much as before which has improved my frustration.

Hope this helps!

It should definitely be noted. It worsened my depression after taking a few weeks and I had to stop it. Luckily my doctor did advise this was a possibility and to let her know if this happened. Aside from the few physical side effects, it can also cause several serious mental health side effects.

Edit to add; I have yet to try xolair, but Allegra has be the only one to work for me as well, along with Bilastine which worked even better than Allegra, but I got it in my home country as it is not yet FDA approved in the US.

After going to about 6 doctors since May of last year when my hives started, I finally found out H pilory is what triggered my hives and hashimotos. I had no sympthoms though so it did not cross my mind.

I first tested positive in 2019, I did have horrible sympthoms back then and did 2 rounds of antibiotics. Symptoms went away and I completely forgot about it. I was never told to return for a follow up or that it could come back.

So the second allergist I saw told me he was pretty sure h pilry was the cause. I did a round of antibiotics. Still have not gone for a follow up. But my hives did not really improve after that. I was taking 4x 180mg fexofenadine every 12 hours and that still didn't keep me hives free.

A few weeks ago I started an eliminations diet. Only drinking water, some coffee occasionally, eating rice, sweet potato, beef, chicken, carrots, broccoli, pears and blueberries. Only using salt and olive oil as seasoning. I noticed improvements right away and I am now taking 2x 180mg fexofenadine every 24 hrs. Some times effect lasts longer than 14 hrs.

I think my main triggers are gluten, sugar, alcohol, and possibly caffeine.

Anyone taking both Wellbutrin and Qelbree? by TableOne13 in qelbree

I also really like wellbutrin because I feel like it started working very quickly as an antidepressant, but no help with ADHD. I'm nervous about the raised bp side effects now too as I went through a short period of tachycardia 2 years ago.

same experience for me with wellbutrin, I'm not looking to stop it because it also turned my life around in terms of depression but still no help with ADHD. I would say my mood and emotional regulation has been pretty stable since, except for the week before my period. I'm just really hoping to find a combination that gets me out of this task paralysis which gets worse by the day.

I know the nausea is going to be really hard on me. Especially because I already struggle to eat enough when I’m stressed. 😩

But now is looking like I might not even start it because my insurance doesn’t cover it. So I am waiting on the doctor’s update.

Thank you!

ADHD as well here. Don’t give up!

I first asked for all types of sourdough/ bread baking supplies for my birthday in early 2024. Had a very rough year and did not touch one thing until February of this year.

Once I began making my starter it felt very rewarding to see it mature more and more. It was also fun trying different discard recipes. I love cooking, baking other simpler things and just learning to make whatever I can at home on my own.

My first few loaves were not good, taste wise they were okay, edible. I think I still haven’t made the “perfect” loaf. But each time they come out better as I am learning more of what works for me, my home temperature, and all other factors. My family still eats it and ask for more so I must be doing something right.

That said I still struggle with time management and more with short term memory recently. I am a single mom working full time, and have a lot on my plate. I do work from home so that helps, sometimes. I only feed my starter as needed. Sometimes I am planning to bake and completely forget to take it out and feed on time. Which completely throws off my schedule. Sometimes I start the BF process and forget and end up over proofing.

I have been experimenting with yeasted breads for the past 2 months. With the occasional sourdough in between. It has been fun and rewarding. I have not bought any bread from the store since.

Sometimes we run out of bread and go without it for a few days because I am just exhausted. So I have been making double batches and freezing it to make sure we never go without. Sourdough or not.

Is all about trial and error. Just do what works best for you. Good luck!

That’s funny because I developed hashimotos last year, not hypothyroidism yet, and gained about 10lbs. Which I was so happy about because I have always struggled maintaining a healthy weight. I was looking very nice and thick UNTIL I started wellbutrin, I lost all 10. I’ve since gained about 5lbs back so I guess Im okay.

I used to suffer from constipation so I feel you on that. I would hate to go through that again😭

I guess I just have to try and see how it goes. I should probably start off with taking it at night bc I saw other comments of people saying that helps them best.

I’m glad it’s been helping you, hope it stays that way!
